The hotel management must be reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, because almost everything that previous reviewers mentioned as irritants had been fixed or addressed when we arrived. We stayed for 7 nights in a regular room, not a suite. The room was comfortable, but small for the rack rate. If you want to spend time relaxing in your room, then go for a suite. (Full disclosure: we went on an invitation that included a $299 per couple for 7 nights deal as well as discounts on selected services.) The service was excellent. The shuttle service has been expanded to twice per hour. Several people made friends and shared taxis or rented cars, since this resort is outside town. We talked with people who took taxis to San Lucas from the "corridor" or from San Juan, and they paid much more. If you don't want to time your leaving to coincide with the shuttle and you don't want to pay for a taxi, then choose a resort located in the crowded, noisy center of town. We thought the serenity of coming "home" to Pacifica and leaving the party scene back in town was worth the cost of the taxi. If you want to party and dance and haggle with the beach vendors, choose another resort, since this one is quiet, serene and absolutely the most relaxing hotel I have ever visited. We had no waits at any restaurant. In fact, we usually had two or three waiters nearby, refilling coffee cups or water. The food prices at the hotel are very high, but are comparable to all of the finer resorts in Cabo. We ate at local restaurants in town that were just as high and not as good. We did find the best value was the lower-priced cafe at the Sunset Beach. We were greeted by name at the pool and at the restaurant and the service only slowed a little at peak times in early afternoon when almost all of the lanai chairs were filled. We were disappointed that the wine bar which advertised tapas did not serve them after 6 p.m. Tapas are generally served in most places as a light evening meal. We are used to eating a larger noon meal and eating light in the evening, but this hotel and all of the Pueblo Bonito resorts followed the American tradition of a light lunch and heavy evening meals. Since the resort defines itself as a "Spa", it was surprising to find an extra $15 per day usage fee for the gym or any wet area. That fee was waved if you received a massage or treatment. The gym and equipment were appropriate for the size of the hotel , but there could have been more scheduled activities and training offered. There were lighted tennis courts, but the golf courses are in the process of being built. If you want to swim in ocean water, take the shuttle to the Rose and you have full privleges at this or other Pueblo Bonito resorts in Cabo. We liked the atmosphere at the Pueblo Bonito San Lucas or the "Blanco" as the locals call it, which is just next door to the Rose. The beach service was excellent. Many people we talked to liked the heavy architecture of the other Pueblo Bonito resorts that are in the traditional Mexican or mediterranean style, but we loved the clean lines and open contemporary style of the Pacifica resort. The concierge service was very good, but many of the staff are only recent arrivals to Cabo from Mexico City or Cancun, so don't expect them to know the local scene very well, or any of the sights in Baja Sur. They will however get you in touch with locals who do know the area. We rented a car and spent a day in Todos Santos, about 75 km north, and it was a trip well worth taking. Get a local guide to take you if you don't know the local and national driving customs, which can be hair raising. We even took advantage of viewing timeshare opportuntiies (or fractional ownership as they insist on calling it) which we normally do not do. We received a large discount on food costs and spa treatments and received a number of free activities, like sunset cruise. All in all, it was a terrific vacation, and well worth it if you want a quiet, serene place to stay without noisy children, without beach vendors and without a Starbucks for miles....yes!

After reading some reviews, we decided to give this relatively new hotel a try. The Pueblo Bonito Pacifica was just what we needed. It was very serene and beautiful - from the minute you walk into the lobby. The hotel was supposedly full, but we never felt like it was crowded at all. There was plenty of room each day around the beautiful well laid out pools. I think the most amazing part of staying here was just the incredible views from all parts of the hotel - from the doors outside the lobby, the pools, the beach and even our balcony. The staff was very friendly and helpful. After I gave my name and room number to the hostess at the main restaurant our first morning there, she greeted me each day by my name. This is Mexico and things do move at a slower pace, so do not expect the speed of service you would at home. Relax - you are on vacation! On the weekend, the restaurant gave out mini newspapers at breakfast so that you can keep up with the latest news which I thought was very nice. The food is very good and we thought the prices were reasonable. I was shocked at the individual who pointed out no Starbucks as a bad thing. I love my Starbies as much as the next person, but come on!!! We got massages at the spa and I have to say, this was one of the best massages I have ever gotten. I went with the stone massage which was a bit pricey, but well worth it. My boyfriend usually says most massages are not strong enough and he said his was perfect! We were not disappointed by not being able to go into the ocean here since we knew that before we went. The beach is wonderful to walk on and is covered with many pretty shells. It is also an ideal place to watch the sunset.

Based on the reviews we read, we decided to rent a car which really gave us the freedom to come and go as we wanted. We were only in Cabo for 3.5 days and spend the majority of time at the resort enjoying the serenity of the hotel. For some fun, we went to the Giggling Marlin for dinner one night and enjoyed the entertainment. You should also head out to Los Arcos (boat ride was setup by the very helpful concierge) for some amazing views and to see the partying that goes on at Medano Beach. We enjoyed a lunch there with the sand between our toes at the Mango Deck.

This was not a cheap holiday, but this is not a cheap hotel in the least - amazing location, beautiful grounds and rooms, friendly staff and good food. We had such an incredible relaxing stay here that we will definitely return!

We stayed for one week at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica the week of Thanksgiving. I initially wanted to stay at the Marquis on the Corridor but my husband convinced me that this was the place for us for two reasons. No kids under 16 allowed and we also received a promotional price (timeshare of course) which made the decision to stay there a bit easier for me. Although we had some problems while we were there, my overall impression of the place was very positive.

Positive comments: Beautiful lobby and surroundings within the hotel property, quiet place even though the hotel was full, no problem getting lounge chairs any time of the day (although they need to consider buying pads for the chairs as they were not very comfortable), beautiful beach (although cannot swim in it which was ok with me not my husband), nice staff who really tries to be helpful (although not always successful in resolving our unique problems), great main restaurant(especially for dinner and breakfast).

Negatives: Fitness room is on the "basement" floor, therefore, no windows or views of ocean, etc., fitness center required a $15 fee unless you have a Spa treatment that day, our room had a horrible smell that although they tried to find the problem they never were able to (pretty awful smell but once doors were open for 10 minutes or so, smell basically went away). Since they were full we couldn't move to another room. No coffee maker in room. However, since I read this in another review, we brought our own.

Since we had a "promotional" deal, we had to sit through a timeshare presentation. As far as timeshares go, the Pueblo Bonito Sunset is by far one of the best I have seen. However, still not worth it for us to buy one. The Sunset is just up the road (need to drive or take a shuttle) and offers additional restaurants if you get tired of the one nice restaurant at the Pacifica. We heard that Frida's at the Sunset is a very good place for dinner (romantic) but be prepared to spend your $$$$. In fact, Cabo in general is pretty expensive as far as Mexico goes.

As for other restaurants in Cabo, we dined at the "Restaurant" which is at the Las Ventanas Spa and Resort and were not impressed. Although expensive, we wouldn't have minded the cost if the food was worthy which it was not. Next time I will try Aqua's at the Palmilla or the restaurant at the Esperanza if we are celebrating a special event as we were this time. We had a good meal at Brazil (if you love meat, this is the place for you), enjoyed Edith's for the Mexician atmosphere, food was just ok. Ponchos is suppose to be great but we didn't get a chance to get there. We will try this place next time. Great Japanese restaurant called Nick San. Everyone we talked to as while as ourselves had a great meal there and it seemed to always be packed.

Overall, we would definitely go back to the Pacifica and pay the normal current rate and hopefully get a non smelly room. However, the entire area surrounding this resort has been bought by the Bonito owners and there are long-range plans to build two golf courses, many more hotels, residential homes, shopping, etc. I love the area now but for us, once the area gets built up, the charm of the area will diminish.

My husband and I had been really looking forward to this trip over Thanksgiving however, we were very disappointed. Resort had many flaws that we found
~service was very slow
~prices for food was very high
~food selection was very limited
~access to town was difficult
~front desk were inconsistent and not helpful to our needs as tourists
~no swimming beach access just very dangerous surf
~no espresso service or Starbucks
~restaurant service was very slow (we were sat and not approached for 40 minutes, we then left)
~pool service was very slow while being well staffed
~room smelled of sewer (we found other people had the same problem)
~we both got very sick and are not sure from what (while staying most of the time at the hotel)
~housekeeping would knock at your door at very early hours
~the "deli" or equivalent to a gift shop was VERY overpriced with limited selection of items(the espresso machine was broken)
~drinks by the pool are very over priced ($15 for Sex On the Beach, $5 for one beer)
~if you found your needs were not being met, you had no choice or take a 20 minutes ($24 round trip) taxi ride into town

We did not think we would have to write this review but are sadly disappointed. I have heard other people talk of the Rose being better but at this point, we are not ready to try any of the others.

We changed our planned three day trip to Todos Santos to include a day at Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. A year ago we viewed the resort while under construction from a fishing charter. The development seemed somewhat remote and the location quite barren. The reviews on this site were very good, however, and we wanted to explore further. We checked in at Pacifica about 6:30 PM and unfortunately missed the sunset. The lighting and water effects at reception are amazing. You will look far to find a more serene and beautiful lobby. Reception was smooth and efficient and there was the added surprise of a complimentary upgrade to a suite. No advance time share commitments, we simply booked a regular room several months ago at a good rate. The rooms are beautifully done and embrace the resort's minimalist zen like earth, air, water and fire theme. We explained that because of our limited stay we wanted to enjoy the resort and not go off to timeshare presentations at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach and there was no pressure to do so.
Pacifica has beautiful architecture and they have really moved up the bar as to what can be done with good design. If you want "action" this is not the place for you. If you want immediate decompression from a busy schedule this may be your spot. Service at the lobby and reception is excellent. Perhaps a little slower at the pool bar but just slow down yourself, it's the reason you would stay there. The main restaurant, Siempre is beautifully laid out and serves food as good or better than you will find at the better restaurants in major North American cities. A nice touch is the swimming pool which curves around outside of the restaurant. Prices are not inexpensive but the value is there. You may wish to enjoy a leisurely breakfast at Pacifica and seek out some of the great restaurants in town instead.
We had our own car so transportation was not a problem. The drive to and from the resort is quite spectacular. Having a car would be a good choice rather than relying on taxis or shuttles. On balance we would recommend Pacifica for those seeking relaxation. We like Solmar Suites (older and quite different), among others, for the same reasons and would probably still choose it along with the Pacifica.
