This hotel is everything I'd hoped it would be. Everyone was right! We had a relaxing stay at this beautiful spa retreat. As soon as you walk in you are greeted with calming aroma therapy (it's like this everyday, all day). The staff is exceptional and well attending. The only thing I didn't care for was after we checked in, we were sent over to the two ladies at the desk. They offered us a timeshare presentation (we were expecting this). When we graciously declined, they looked at us as if they couldn't believe it. Fine, we received our free drinks vouchers and proceeded to our room. The valet was already up there waiting for us with our bags. Julio went on to explain everything in the room and the services that the hotel provided (didn't have to read a thing)! There is absolutly nothing to do at this place but relax and enjoy the sun and surf. Make sure you try to fish tacos they are the best! If you do want to do stuff, take a taxi to the Marina. Find the Ecocat (Resturant) ask for Bernardo and/or Lucy (they are married)...They have the best prices for fishing, jetskiing, etc.! Or go to the D'Joint resturant and ask for Javier...he can has good hookups for anything you may want to do in Cabo. You will get bombarded with people yelling at you that they have the best this or that...keep walking and look for the folks above...they won't try to get over on you. But know that tourism is their only way most of them make money, so listen, but but be smart. These guys are honest and fair. While you are at the Marina, try Solomon's they have great food and the drinks are not watered down. Make sure you go to Pancho's for breakfast, lunch or dinner! The food fantastic, the waiters are fun and attentive. Try Mi Casa, its a touristy spot, but the food is good and the resturant is interesting. If you like adventure, take the Wild Canyon Tour...it's a hiking/zipline thing! So much fun, the guides are funny and knowledgeable! Also, try the ATV Adventure...it's for 3 hours and well worth it! You will need a shower when you're done, but that where the professional pampering at the hotel comes in! We had the best time, will recommend this hotel to any couple or single person looking to relax, but still take advantage of all Cabo San Lucas has to offer! Seriously, it's worth every penny!

Two things that would make this hotel unsuitable for me:
1) Beach not swimmable;
2) The whole hotel is smoke-free zone, and they enforce it. They would call me at 2am to tell me that someone saw me smoking on the balcony. Well, I fixed that by smoking in the bathroom.

If I knew those things beforehand, I would never choose this hotel. That information is available on their website, but you have to really search for it instead of screaming at you. Plus, since I booked the hotel through Hotwire, I did not know the hotel name before I paid. So, if those two points are not a problem, then I would say it is a nice hotel, and probably the 4.5 star rating is correct.
The other things that I did not like at the hotel:
3) They were all bewildered that I am traveling alone;
4) They charged me $1/day for some donation without asking me first. It was refunded with no problem, but if I did not notice it on my bill, it would be a problem;
5) 20 minutes from the city center. Not 10 minutes as stated in other reviews. It takes 10 minutes just to get out outside of the complex passing three check points. Given that there is a speed bump every 100 yards and they drive 10 miles/hour, it takes a very long and bumpy ride.
6) Concierge service even though was very polite and tried hard to accommodate my needs gave me wrong or partially wrong info on all the three questions that I have asked them.

Recently stayed there. Misunderstanding with staff regarding reservation and guest #s resulted in security being called to our room. They could have simply come and talked to us to clarify the problem! We were then treated terribly throughout the rest of the stay....made to feel uncomfortable/unsafe in whatever we were doing. Very disappointed with this establishment. They do not cater to the customer.. They cater to themselves.

My wife and I have traveled to Cabo several times and have always stayed at one specific property that we love until this trip. I got this bright idea to try something "new" so we found the Pacifica and from what everything we read and researched it seemed like it was going to be great! 4-1/2 star rating (same as the other property we have stayed) so it should be very nice and comparable. WRONG! Let me just start by saying that we travel a lot and have stayed at some very nice places and there is no motive to this review other than I wish someone would have told me before we booked this place.

The management in this hotel is without question the worst I have ever dealt with. They are extremely unaccomodatiing and absolutely do not care if you are pleased with anything. We arrived at the hotel and after checking in did not take long to realize this was not the property they advertise it to be nor was it what we were hoping for it to be. After numerous disappointments we decided that we wanted to leave the property and go to another hotel. NOT A CHANCE. The hotel management absolutely would not budge and would not give us any kind of a refund. We had a package deal and had payed for five nights and were even willing to pay a one night penalty. The so-called management told us that we would forfeit our entire five nights and there would be no refund (things were so bad and we were treated so poorly, we actually considered doing that). The rooms at this hotel are like a cracker jack box. Extremely small, very simplistic. There is only one sink in the bathroom (even in the suites). Most of the rooms are very far removed from the pool and beach area which puts you pretty far back from the ocean. The pools are in bad shape. They are made up of small little blue tiles and there are tiles missing everywhere. All the restaurant options in this hotel are in one circular buidling (execept for the food you can get at the pool) and basically are not seperated by anything (it is a very strange set-up). For a "Holistic" resort you would expect the spa and fitness center to be amazing and although I did not use the spa my wife did and she said it was one of the smallest, unimpressive spas she had ever used. I would echo those sentiments concerning the fitness center. Also be aware that the hotel is trying to push time shares and will hit you up to sit through a presentation that will eat up part of your precious vacation. They are definitely deceiving about the way they approach it but we fortunately did not fall for the pitch and did not end up going to the two hour presentation. I have been hit up several times at the San Jose airport for time share stuff but come on....at your 4-1/2 star resort they hound you for a time share presentation??

Overall this was a very disappointing resort for us and we will absolutely never go back and I would not refer this property to someone that was looking for a more "upscale" resort. The biggest thing that I would want you to know is that this was not what we expected and think that if the property had a more accurate rating it would be just fine and although the service staff itself was good the managment and customer relations was as I stated earlier the worst I have ever experienced.

Four years ago we stayed at the PB Sunset Beach (just up the hillside from the Pacifica) and toured the Pacifica (just opened). That's all it took. We knew we would stay here on our return trip to Cabo.

The resort is absolutely beautiful from the grounds to the pools to the spa, etc. The landscaping is very well maintained. Everything was spotless (I'm extremely picky when it comes to cleanliness). We stayed in a room with a king-size bed on the fourth floor. We had a magnificient view of the beach and ocean along with the larger pool. While the room is smaller than most resorts, it was plenty of space for me and my husband. I have never felt sheets as soft and smooth as these (and I always use 700 thread count sheets at home). Plus, the bed had a feather bed on top of the matress. Extremely comfortable.

The food at the pool, cafe and restaurant was very delicious (on the expensive side though). Service was impeccable through the resort, especially at the restaurant and pools. We basically had the place to ourselves. Three buildings were not even in use (thanks to the Swine Flu scare). We took the free shuttle between this resort and Sunset Beach as well as the free shuttle to town (PB Rose). Very easy and accomodating travel between the resorts.

I cannot say enough great things about this resort. We will be back!
