I used this site extensively before we left, so I feel it's only right to write this review! Let me tell you -- I concur completely with the previous reviewer....the Pacifica is a gorgeous, wonderful and relaxing place to vacation!
The lavender towel upon arrival was such a treat and the check-in was incredibly painless. Once we told the timeshare lady that we were only 25 were we never bothered again. On the short walk to our room, our lovely bellhop explained the layout of the resort and how things work. He was very helpful.
We spent most of our time laying out by the pool and eating lunch at the swim-up bar. Alfredo at the bar was awesome, friendly and really quick. Because we only used Alfredo, I can't comment about how the "chair-side" service is, but it looked like people were enjoying not having to get wet to get their drinks! I agree with many of the previous reviewers that the fish tacos are great!!
There are two pools and a hottub, but we stuck solely to the pool with the swimup bar. It was really nice and there was always a seat available under the umbrellas when we would come down in the mid-morning. People who came down closer to noon usually couldn't get a chair with an umbrella, but the staff usually accommodated them by pulling chair under palm trees and people seemed satisfied with that.
I was surprised to see the prices on the menus because I had really built up in my head (thanks to previous reviewers) that they were going to be astronomical. They weren't. I don't know where people live that $8 is expensive for a HUGE frozen margarita/daquiri. Beers were only $3-$4. The lunch entrees we ate (usually getting two and sharing them both) were about $12 a piece. I found the prices at the pool bar/aqaubar very reasonable...but that's my opinion.
We ate in Siempre, the main restaurant, three times, twice for a "big" dinner. The chicken ceasar salad was very good. I had a brothy fish dish the first night that was phenomonal...about $25. Our last night there was the best though...I had a rack of lamb and my husband had steak. They were both about $45, but worth every penny. Simply delicious. My husband and are I not "big eaters," so we usually split a salad and had entrees with no dessert. Our bills were usually about $130-$150. If you get wine your bill will go up drastically, as I will 100% agree that the wine list is way overpriced. We couldn't justify buying wine at those prices.
We only had breakfast at the resort once. On the van ride to the hotel when we initially arrived, the driver stopped by a Wal-mart so that we all could pick up items we needed. We got a case of bottled water and a bunch of cereal bars. It was great and saved us money as bottled water is a little pricey at the resort.
As I previously mentioned, we are not big eaters. I could see how people who eat three big meals a day could easily spend A LOT of money here on food. Our food total when we left was $775...not too bad considering the great deal we got on the room. This made are trip cost similar to any high-end all inclusive we could've gone to.
I want to say that I think there are two types of resort people in the world. People who like mega-resorts with 10 on-site restaurants, a gazillion activities, and lots of action --- and people who like the exact opposite. I don't think one is better than the other, but my husband and I are definitely part of the latter group. Our stay at the pacifica was sooo peaceful and relaxing because there was 1) no kids 2) no music blaring at the pool/bar 3) similar, calm guests all around. If you like activity and action you may not like this place and get bored very fast.
Finally, I want to comment on the wind. I had to buy a headband there because my hair was blowing in my face the first day and it drove me nuts! BUT -- and this is a big but -- the wind cooled the air sooo much. The last two days there the wind died down and it was so hot that we only stayed at the pool for a few hours. So, the wind can be a nuisance but it helps make August in Cabo a little more bearable!
