“Great destination, excellent service, without a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2013 via mobile

Service was great. New and clean accommodations. Location is about as bad as it gets if you desire to be downtown. Overall a great couples retreat. There is a timeshare onsite that will harass you to go to the demonstration...the rudest people you will ever encounter... I can't hold this against the hotel as I don't know if they are affiliated but they were awful!!!

We have been back to Pacifica 5 times in the past 2 1/2 years and love it. It's the most beautiful and relaxing vacation one could have. The staff is beyond excellent.
We have recommended this resort to many friends and all of them have enjoyed their stay also.

As a world traveler I can honestly say that Pueblo Bonito Pacifica is one of my favorite places to return to. It's like coming home. My husband Dylan and I feel like the staff is our family.

That said, our last visit in July to celebrate our 25th year together as a couple was heavily disrupted by the strange presence of a yoga training institute that were not only allowed to take over the main bar located in the restaurant, but also given run of the property. We were constantly having to listen to yoga chanting and music while they walked through the dining area in sweaty outfits with rolled up mats. Also allowed to smoke everywhere on the resort grounds (which used to be prohibited).

It was really unfortunate to not be able to enjoy our evening cocktail before dinner with our favorite bartender. We were disappointed that management allowed this to take place.

That said, the staff remains amazing. The grounds beautiful.
We will be returning again in March for our 6th time to enjoy the renovated pools, whale watching, and ultimate peace and quiet PBP had to offer.

We visited this resort for the first time at the beginning of October 2013. From the moment we arrived, everything was 5 star plus! If you are looking for a romantic, secluded couples spot, this is the place. Rooms are large, and elegantly furnished and the staff tend to any needs you may have throughout your stay. The beds are very comfortable and you even get a pillow menu that you can order additional pillows from.....The resort itself is geared to making your every wish come true.....it is a small and intimate spot with a completely private beach. The only drawback is the fact that you cannot swim in the ocean however long walks along the beach are not out of the question and the beach beds are available for a small fee And the food......the food was absolutely amazing...from the portions, to the presentation to the choices and quality....you could not ask for more. The bartenders are all very friendly and are constantly checking to see if you need a refill and they strive to make any cocktail you wish - or they create their own!! The programs staff were all very friendly and made everyone feel like could participate in any of the events....They just had so much fun!! Having travelled to several different spots in Mexico, Cuba and DR, I can honestly say this resort would be very hard to top!

We have been going to Pacifica twice per year for a few years. Our most recent visit was for 9 days in early August 2013. Through these many visits we have developed a friendship with the current front desk manager named Martin. He is the gold standard for customer service. We always take the butler option (which I highly recommend), but once in a while it’s priceless to be able to go straight to the boss. My singular incident occurred with a rude bartender. It was VERY disappointing to have had to debate with this bartender so I felt like I had to bring it up. Martin quickly dealt with the situation.

Our housekeeper was named Anna Maria. She is a gem. She took great care of us each day. She was pleasant and very professional. Her ability to keep the room clean was second to none.

Ramón was assigned as our butler. He was attentive and available when we called. His unique sense of humor definitely added more fun to our time there.

The food, as usual, was very good. We especially enjoyed the “romantic dinner in the room” option. This is a new feature on the menu that is outstanding. You are given four meal choices, for example steak and lobster, which we chose. The dinner is delivered to your room with a bottle of champagne, wine of your choice, and served in courses by your butler and another server. We also never miss an opportunity to visit La Frida’s. This is an upscale restaurant at the Sunset property. You must have a reservation and it takes a shuttle ride to get there but it is worth it.

We normally go in the spring and then once again in the winter. This is the first time that we went in the middle of the summer because we were concerned about the heat. It wasn’t that bad. Highs were in the low to mid 90’s and the lows were in the 60’s. There is always a breeze and we spent most of our time on the bed on the beach. Of the nine days that we were there only one day did we feel compelled to just stay in the pool due to the heat. The pool water temperatures this time of year were just about perfect.

One note on the airport. As of approximately six months ago, they have a new terminal at SJD which funnels everyone into one exit. It is much more difficult to avoid/ignore the EXTREMELY BOTHERSOME, OBNOXIOUS scammers that try to stop you on your way outside to meet your ride to your hotel. As I have said with other reviews of this location; after clearing customs and immigration, do not talk with anyone until the SUN IS IN YOUR FACE (outside the building)! Anyone who stops you inside the building is just trying to sell you a timeshare. They actually blocked the door when we were going through this area of the new terminal and did not allow us to leave until we spoke with someone. This is unacceptable! For this reason alone we are looking into Hawaii for our next vacation. As much as we enjoy the Pacifica, and their staff, something has to be done about these extremely assertive and obnoxious thugs at the airport.

Room Tip: The suite option is well worth it!

Just returned from a week long stay at this resort and had a great time. The resort has a relaxing ambiance, so if you are looking for a party then this may not be the place for you. The food, service, and rooms were great. We had the all inclusive package and took advantage of the pools and restaurants of the sister resorts, yet still agreed the Pacifica was the best.

Room Tip: Choose the all-inclusive option for access to Pueblo Bonita's sister resorts

At the beginning of November, our office was invited on a corporate trip down to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and we stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica. We enjoyed it very much. The staff and people we interacted with were extremely attentive and considerate to us, especially Magda and Daniel, in concierge, and Marco and Karim, bellhops and valet. These four individuals always greeted us with a smile and always seemed genuinely interested in what we were going to do during our stay and also had many suggestions of places to visit, things to see, and restaurants to dine in. Definitely hit them up for dinner input. Since it is an adults only hotel, it is nice and quiet and you can feel relaxed during your stay. The beauty of the resort being all inclusive, is that you can go up to the Pueblo Bonito Sunset and dine at the many restaurants that are there. The only drawback to Pacifica is that it has one main restaurant. After a week, it gets to be tiring and we found ourselves eating off property. There are many amazing restaurants in the city! I highly recommend this resort.
Oh, and the spa is spectacular!
As a bonus, the sunsets each and every night are spectacular!

Room Tip: All of the rooms face the Pacific Ocean!

My husband & I just stayed at this resort with two other couples for a week ending November 15, 2013. We attended the presentation with the understanding we would receive a resort credit, same as the other two couples in our party, however, when it came time to receive the vouchers, we were told the proper paperwork wasn't filled out and nothing could be done about it. The tour sales representative, Peter, did tell us if we decide to buy we could have whatever we want. Then to add insult, the sales manager, Javier, told us we were not invited to attend the tour, after we'd already spent three hours listening to the sales pitch & visiting model homes. This was clearly a lie as we we're invited upon check-in, just like every guest is. The residence we stayed in did not have hot water, water pressure, a clean pool, working televisions in the rooms, an awful smell in the restroom drain, and the air conditioning didn't cool down the first part of our stay. It took several calls & finally on day 4 of our stay, maintenance showed up only to fix some of the items. Lastly, the wait for transportation from the main lobby took more than 30 minutes on two occasions. We have stayed here before but the service on this trip was vet poor. I suggest others search for a different resort.
