My husband and I visited the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica for our anniversary in April for a week. We absolutely loved everything about the hotel.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful with each and every one of our requests. When we arrived at the hotel, the time share people offered us $100 worth of spa credits, $100 worth of food credits, a dinner cruise and a glass bottom boat ride in exchange for attending a time share presentation the next morning. We had read the reviews on this site prior to our trip so we knew what to expect and had decided in advance to go ahead and do the time share presentation.
The time share presentation did showcase the sister hotel (Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach) which is just up the hill from the Pacifica. The whole thing took about 2 hours. It was pretty low pressure, and even though we didn't sign up for the timeshare, we felt it was worth it too get the free spa and food credits. After that, the timeshare people didn't bother us at all the rest of our stay.
Our stay was otherwise incredible. I had e-mailed the hotel in advance since it was our honeymoon and upon our arrival they had spelled out "Happy Anniversary" on our bed, as well as provided free champagne and chocolates for us. I had also asked to be on the 4th floor in an e-mail to the hotel and we ended up with a 4th floor room with incredible views of the ocean and a nice ocean breeze every evening. Every night the staff would come and provide turn-down service for our bed linens and leave chocolates on the pillows.
We did spend most of our time at the pools during the day. There are 2 pools, one "infinity pool" with warm, bath-temperature water and one with cooler water and a swim-up bar. If we were out at the pool by about 10 AM or so, we had no problem finding a spot to hang out for the whole day. One thing: there is no beach swimming at the Pacifica due to the strong currents in the ocean, but the pools were great so we didn't mind too much.
Another thing we liked is the shuttle bus which goes to the 3 other Pueblo Bonito hotels in Cabo. If you want to go to downtown Cabo, you can take a shuttle from the Pacifica to Sunset Beach then to downtown for free so you don't have to pay for a taxi. They leave every 30 minutes or so. We went into town pretty much every night to eat since the restaurants in town are a lot cheaper than the one restaurant at the Pacifica. Definitely try "The Office" in downtown Cabo which is right on the beach so you sit at the tables with your feet in the sand. You should make reservations, though, because they are really crowded in the evenings. After being in the hustle and bustle of downtown Cabo though, we couldn't wait to get back to the relaxing peaceful atmosphere of the Pacifica!
We did have our anniversary supper at the hotel restaurant Siempre at a table overlooking the hotel pool just as the sun was setting. We went right when the restaurant opened for supper and we were the only people in the restaurant at first so we got amazing attention from the staff. The meal was delicious, and the staff even gave us a little present for our anniversary (a box of chocolates with a bow on it) for us to take back to our room.
The only downside to our stay was the room service. Our first night there we ordered sushi, and they messed up our order, bringing us the wrong dish. The sushi wasn't very good compared to what we have had at home. After that, we only ordered food poolside for lunch and ate in downtown Cabo for dinner every night. You can also eat at the Sunset Beach hotel restaurants if you like which are about 5 minutes away by shuttle.
Overall, the hotel was absolutely wonderful. The rooms were very clean, and the whole hotel definitely lived up to its name, providing a very relaxing, spa-like experience. We will definitely go back to celebrate another anniversary!
