My husband and I stayed at the Pacifica March 2007. (I know this review is rather late, but I just joined TripAdvisor) We absolutely loved the Pacifica!! We knew going to Cancun in March was risky business due to Spring Break being in full swing, but we found the peace and quiet we were looking for at the Pacifica. Courtesy transportation to/from the Pueblo Bonito properties is very convenient and creates a great way to get to downtown Cabo for free! Catching a cab is just as easy and I recall it being quite affordable. ($10 each way - not bad in my opinion)

Our room was gorgeous! We like contemporary furnishings and this room was to our liking. There are comfortable chairs on the patio and the view was great!

We enjoyed the food and drinks. As many people have stated, the fish tacos (with a side of black beans) are incredible! Dinner and breakfast at the resort were really good as well. I'm a very picky eater and I was satisfied with every meal. Unfortunately, we had to cancel our anniversary beach dinner because of high winds, but we enjoyed a romantic dinner next door at the Sunset (La Frida restaurant) instead and had a wonderful time and a delicious dinner!

Speaking of the Sunset, get their dinner schedule when you arrive. They host nightly themed buffets and we didn't know this until 2 days before we left. Apparently a couple of the themed nights are known to be very good, so it's good to know this in advance since the Pacifica only has a couple of places to eat. Having the Sunset next door creates additional dining opportunities, even if you don't take advantage of the themed buffets.

My ONLY criticism is the whole timeshare thing. After checking in, you are asked to visit with one of the hostesses and that's when the timeshare pressure begins. We turned them down initially, but they were persistent, although very nice. (Nothing like the creepy sharks that bombard you at the airport) On day two the timeshare gift offerings increased substantially, so we decided to take the plunge. We received $150 to use at the resort for food and $200 to use at the spa. This "money" went a long way. We used the spa credit towards our couple's massage on the beach (a must do!) and we used our food credit at La Frida and splurged. If you decide to do the timeshare presentation, be prepared to lose your morning. We were told it would only take about 1 hour and we ended up being there for about 3 hours. When we returned to the Pacifica our "hostess" asked how things went and we told her that she grossly misstated the presentation time. She claimed that we had every right to end the presentation after 1 hour and we still could've received our free gifts. I recommend trying this out if you end up at the presentation longer than promised.

The Pacifica is the perfect place to go for a quiet, romantic get-away. My husband and I have demanding jobs and we just wanted a nice trip to unwind and enjoy each other. The Pacifica delivered all the way around. We were very sad to leave. We will never forget the Pacifica!

My first impression of the hotel was that it was extremely secluded and small. The hotel is very "far eastern zen" in its decor. I tend to prefer a more european flair. The hotel itself does not have much going on, which is fine if you are there for relaxation. My husband and I spend most of our time around the pool and walking on the beach, which is very secluded. You can walk up the hill to the sister resort Sunset Beach. Pacifica grew on me. When I first checked in I didn't get great vibes but it is a great place for relaxation. The Sunset is very nice and pretty and you are welcome to use all of their facilities as well as all the facilities at the Rose and Blanco. The resort tends to be pretty expensive for things like drinks and water. Nine dollars for a bottle of water in the room seems excessive to me. You can go into town and get the same thing for less than 2 dollars.

Don't bother trading in money because they will take american dollars everywhere you go.

Beautiful resort as long as you like minimalist zen.

We had some wonderful food in town. Mi Casa had great queso and margueritas. There were also tons of great little cafes by the marina for breakfast or lunch.

Regarding the timeshare presentation, it is your call. If you have a couple of extra hours in the morning then go and you can get a ton of free stuff. This is why timeshares are so expensive, by the way. They have to pay for all of their marketing expenses. If you are not interested in buying a simple no will do the trick. It is very low key.

I feel like I stayed in a different hotel, based on the reviews I've read, but my suspicion is these reviews are planted by the hotel and/or its timeshare company owners. This hotel is nothing but a spiffed up lure to sell timeshares. You cannot avoid the hardsell pitch, which was explained to us as a 90 minute "welcome tour" and turned into a three hour used car sales pitch. And once you turn down their overpriced timeshare offer, you are virtually cast away. Service at the hotel was average, you could tell there was little training or coordination. Food was HORRIBLE. And it is mislabeled as a holistic retreat, other than being on the ocean, where you can't swim, there is little that comprises a holistic retreat -- we could not figure out if and when there were yoga classes, no one seemed to know and by the time we found out, we had missed the one class they offered on the weekend. It is quiet and the weather was beautiful and beach and whales were a treat, but there are so many better places to stay with better service and not operating as fronts for timeshare businesses, which this site and Expedia do not warn yo about.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Pacifica from January 20-30, 2008 and we cannot say enough great things about this resort.

Transportation from airport to Pacifica: We arranged for a shared shuttle on Exepedia.com. Cape Travel greeted us outside and it was $17 US per person, plus gratuity. Two stops total, 45 minutes travel time.

Transportation from Pacifica to airport: We arranged for a private cab through the concierge. $70 total for two people, plus gratuity. 35-40 minute travel time.

Customer Service: The staff is wonderful, attentive, helpful, and easy going. We were met curbside by two staff members - one took our bags; another offered us eucalyltus scented hand towels.

Swimming: Two gorgeous, warm pools. One huge pool with swim-up bar; one medium sized pool. Both 4.5 feet deep.
Note: Due to the strong current undertow and sudden beach drop off, swimming is NOT allowed in the ocean.

Decor/Rooms: Resort grounds and buildings are well manicured and maintained. Contemporary, zen aesthetic rooms.
Ask for a room located on the 4th or 5th floors. We were on the 4th floor and kept the sliding door open every night to hear the ocean waves.

Food: As others have mentioned - resort prices. We mostly ate poolside during the day - fish tacos ($12 US), sandwiches/burgers ($12 US), beer ($4 US), pina coladas ($6 US), etc. Tequila shots are $12-18 US each.

Dinner: Highly recommend Frida at Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach for a splurge (steaks, seafood, etc - excellence service.) Also recommend the Bistro at Sunset Beach for casual dining. Both places have patio seating, so ask for a table outside.

Spa: The prices are steep - $48 US for a pedicure, $100 for a 50 minute massage, etc.

Shuttle Service: Free shuttle every 30 minutes to Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach, the sister property located 3 minutes up the hill. From there, you can take the free shuttle into downtown.

Taxis: If you are downtown, look for the green or blue vans. It cost approx $10 US to the Pacifica.

Groceries: There is a small one at the Pacifa and a large one at Sunset Beach but prices are high - a one litre bottle of Fiji water is $7 US, Voss water is $9 US. We took the free shuttle into town and took a cab back to the hotel - stocked up on Arrowhead water ($2 US for one gallon), juices, beer, snacks, breakfast foods for ten days. It was the smartest thing we did!

Exchange Rate: January 2008, about 11 Mexican pesos to 1 US dollar at banks in town. Most banks are open until 5 pm - drivers license ID required. At the airport, stores will accept the US dollar.

If you are looking for boisterous crowds, the Pacifica is not for you.

If you are looking for a quiet, restful vacation spot to swim, read, and work on you tan, the Pacifica is it!

We chose Pueblo Bonita Pacifica by the reviews on TripAdvisor and they were right on!
The pool was great and the swim-up pool bar was fantasic and delicious! I recommend trying the fish tacos. There are also activities to participate in which could get you a free drink or when we did the cooking class we later were able to get any type of lunch by the head chef.
The staff was very attentive and helpful. Getting to town is no problem and a taxi is always ready within a few minutes. I HIGHLY recommend eating at Edith's in town. We were lucky to have someone mention it to us and we ate there twice, it is just THAT good!
Also, the beds re totally comfortable and the rooms were very nice. I adored the little chocolate on my pillow when they did the turn down service.
I loved that is was completely relaxing and no children around but yet active enough that we did not feel like the only couple in our age group (27)
