We came to Casa Contenta on a whim. We had a last minute resort cancellation and found this place via the web. We had no idea what to expect and our expectations were low! Boy were we in for a shock. From the moment we walked into the house we knew that our bad luck had turned into our new good fortune. We stayed 8 days in the Ocotillo room and I could not have asked for anything better! What I can't even put into words is the views from this house! Hands down, no other place in Cabo can compete. You can watch the sunrise, the sunset, the legendary arch, the cruise ships port, the moon rise and all of these views are unobstructed. For selfish reasons, I do not want to keep raving about the house because I loved that it's not as well known. I personally would like to keep it that way as to always have a vacancy in the future. I will not do that because Craig and Lori deserve to have this place recognized for all of their hard work. I can not leave out Dora either, who was the sweetest person we could have met! Because of her, we always had a clean room, but most importantly, the BEST breakfast I have ever had! (and I am a very picky eater). I could go on and on about this place and anyone who has ever stayed at Casa Contenta would agree. If you are considering this place, your search is over!!!

First off: There is so much to do in Cabo, and the location totally exceeded my expectations! I'm so happy we ignored the swine flu hype and made the trip. Cabo is gorgeous, swine flu free and open for business! I did my research and called my doctor and felt completely safe. There was no swine flu, and I saw nobody wearing a mask.

As for Casa Conenta — it felt like our (luxurious) home away from home. The grounds are scenic as is the view. Breakfast every morning, prepared by Dora, was diverse and delicious! Poached eggs over toast with bacon, or strawberry pancakes, breakfast always came with a smoothie, fresh coffee, and fresh fruit. Yum.

As for the room, it was quite large but a bit cold feeling. The lack of "wow factor" may have made the rate seem a bit pricey.

We had the pleasure of watching the sun set in the colorful Baja sky from the spacious roof deck. Owners Lori and Craig were generous enough to offer us some wine before dinner one evening, and chatting with them about their experiences in Cabo really added to ours. They also had great recommendations on restaurants, and set up a fun boat trip for us one afternoon.

From the breakfast, to the internet and international phone access, to Lori and Craig's personal touches, the service at Casa Contenta was exceptional. It's a great place to get away! I definitely recommend it!

Casa Contenta is a unique and beautiful bed and breakfast that offers the peace and quiet of a more remote location, but is within a mile of the center of town and the most active beaches in Cabo San Lucas. For larger parties they offer the option to rent the whole house (except the area where the owners live) which is what we did as we travelled with 5 of our kids (one adult child, three teens and a nine year old). There are three rooms on the first floor, each with it's own bathroom and two rooms on the second floor, also each with a bathroom. The lving room area is fully equipped with a computer connected to the internet, a large television, games and books galore. The living area opens to a fantastic patio/deck area that overlooks the ocean with a perfect view of "lands end'. There is a small pool and hot tub and at least seven lounges along with a great shaded area with a table and chairs. Guests also have access to a beautiful roof deck area from which the sunsets can be watched or marshmellows roasted over the fire pit which is surrounded by ample comfortable seating. The staff is polite, helpful and never in your face. Craig and Lori, the owners are very nice and available, but they also respect the privacy of the guests. We did not take advantage of local meal preparation options and elected to take over the kitchen oursleves, but during normal times when multiple guests stay, the staff prepares breakfast and there are many options for having dinner made in "the casa", as well as close proximity to many places to eat. This is a bed and breakfast and not a resort. It is a former home that has been lived in and as such has all of the charm and character of a place that has collected memories. Things are kept very clean but not "sterile" and when you are here you really do feel that you can relax. The pool is a great hang out for part of the day, but the kids need to get to town to have fun. This requires a car, so you need to have a car if you stay here. Cabo is Cabo, and this review is not about Cabo, rather about Casa Contenta which is a lovely place and great for families if rented out as a "villa" or for individuals who want to be out of the mainstream craziness of Cabo. One footnote, the word "quiet" refers to a general removal from the craziness of being in Cabo. There are all of the sounds of a mexican village when you stay at Casa Contenta..including roosters, a few barking dogs etc. All is quieted by the lovely chirps of many different kinds of birds that live in Casa Contenta's garden!

My husband and I stayed at Casa Contenta in late January. We were only there a few nights but the house was comfortable and spacious. We have stayed in about ten B and B's in our travels and this was the most welcoming. Lori and Craig were warm and generous hosts. We had the Agave room which was large and airy with an in room shower and a private bathroom adjacent in the suite. It was on the second level, above most of the larger suites. The breakfasts were decadent and we enjoyed visiting with the other guests. We didn't have any problems with mosquitoes but we also slept with the windows closed and AC on. We also didn't have any problems with noise either although there was an occasional rooster in the morning.The B and B is located on a hill a little outside of town. We had awesome sunsets from the roof each evening. You could see the arch, the bay, and a great view of water. It's also outside of the city center so it's quieter at night. You definitely need a rental car to get around the area. I also highly recommend taking a sunset cruise on the Rissalina. The captain and crew were welcoming and it was a smaller pontoon type boat. It felt like we were invited on a friend's private cruise. The dinner was tasty and we got a great view of the arch and coastline with a few whales too. Lori has great recommendations. We also discovered a wonderful Argentinian restaurant in downtown Cabo that was really authentic and tasty. I lived in Buenos Aires for awhile so I'm a bit of steak snob but the food was great and not very expensive. There seemed to be a good clientele of locals there every night. It was on the main drag across from the Tesoro Hotel towards the hill. Sorry I don't remember the name. It was a small window front but new and modern inside.
We have stayed in two other hotels in the Cabo area (Hilton and Cabo Azul in San Jose) and overall felt more relaxed and at ease at Casa Contenta. It's definitely not a resort but still has enough amenities to make you feel relaxed on your vacation plus there is no timeshare pitch to worry about!

Also definitely check out San Jose if you have time. The town is cute and artistic and has some great restaurants to check out.
