My Husband & I just got back from a 5 day vacation to the Dreams Resort in Los Cabos. We both turned 40 this week so we went there to celebrate. It has been 10 years since we have been away ALONE without our children. So I definitely knew what we wanted out of this trip. And I have to say Dreams fulfilled just about everything!!
When we arrived, we were treated great. Just watch out for the "vacation consultants". After you check-in, they will take you and talk to you about all of the excursions you can go on while visiting. We knew what our agenda wanted to be and it was to RELAX, SLEEP, EAT, DRINK and just not have to worry about a schedule. DO NOTHING was our plan. But they do offer some very nice things to do at discounted rates. The resort has something to do every hour of the day, plus the spa and other on-site activities (gym, tennis, etc.). They do have (2) pools. The main pool is georgous and very big. Lounge chairs very comfortable. Pool bar - convenient and great. The beach area - very nice & relaxing. The have grass cabanas with lounge chairs and hammocks. (2) cautions about the beach - there are people there selling items so after a few "No Gracias" they get the hint. They are behind a rope so they are not close to you. Also, the beach area is restricted from you swimming in the ocean due to the tides and ocean sealife. We were fine with that because we like to swim in the pools. But you still receive the same outcome of being by the ocean, hearing the waves, seeing the water, etc. There are five restaurants for you to eat at. They were fine. With this being our first "all-inclusive" vacation we really do not have anything else to compare to. The food overall was good - not the greatest. We thought it was still worth it. Again, just not having to go outside the resort to look for somewhere to eat is great. I probably would not choose this resort for our "family vacation". There were ALOT of couples and especially in the evening you would be restricted to do what most people do there. Dress nice in the evening, drink, beautful music playing, candles lit at every corner you turn, just very romantic. I know they have a kids program, but not sure what that involves and if you would have to pay extra for babysitting. I thought the staff treated us very nicely and they worked very hard to please you and make the resort look its best.
My only suggestion is that you need to contact the resort 2 days prior to your arrival to confirm what type of room you are getting. We requested a Jr. Suite with a King-Size Bed, Ocean View. We got the right room just with 2 double beds. They had NOTHING available to give us. So that was a bummer because the bed is not very big. With my Husband being 6'3", he needed some room. They told me that bit of advise, but again she said the only 100% guarantee you have getting the requests you originally submitted is to order the "Honeymoon Suite" Those definetely have a King-Size Bed. We'll know next time!!
Overall, we had a wonderful, relaxing vacation just the two of us. We would go back - just not with our children. If you go, say "Hello" to Miguel - the Dreams Activity Team Member. He was alot of fun and really likes for you to partake in Stretching at the beach and the Water Aerobics. He's a good guy. Hope this helps with your planning.
