“Two Thumbs Up!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2010

My husband and I traveled to Dreams Los Cabos with 28 family members and friends for our wedding on Jan. 23, 2010. It was PERFECT! The wedding, the location, the resort, the fun activities... we LOVED it!

Most of our group got upgraded to a honeymoon suite once we arrived. We loved our rooms but so did those that didn't get the upgrade. Nice balconies, beautiful views, comfy beds, well stocked mini bar... Fabulous housekeeping and turn down service each evening.

Pretty good food, nice setting. LOVED the sushi and tempura and Rangoon. Didn’t love the sweet and sour pork.

Seaside Grill
Right by the pool, yummy breakfast buffet, fantastic steak, ribs, etc. for dinner. Great sandwiches, hamburgers, wraps for lunch.

El Patio
Great breakfast buffet. Yummy lunches and dinners, fajitas, hamburgers, desserts! Beautiful view from this restaurant.

Didn’t love the atmosphere but LOVED the food. You have to dress up to eat here and we only ate here once but it was unique and good! The lasagna was great and so was the calamari. The cannoli was good for dessert. People didn’t love the tiramisu.

All seafood. Marlin quesadillas and fish tacos were good. Adults only for dinner.

We LOVED the staff, especially the bar tenders and housekeeping staff! Yesica, the wedding planner, was amazing! The front desk staff was okay and the gift shop staff wasn’t friendly. Everyone we dealt with at restaurants was pleasant and accommodating and personable. We were treated like royalty and loved every minute of it!

Room Service
We often ordered room service after a late night out. It’s quick and tasty! Loved the hamburgers, nachos and fries.

Pools- Main Pool
Love the INFINITY pool. The swim up bar has to be the best invention ever! Busy pool.
Quiet Pool- Nice pool, much less activity at this pool, more relaxing and quiet and serene.

Rendez Vous
The BEST bar there. Super bartenders, the best drinks, great meeting place.

Not my favorite place. The times they do have an event, they don’t last long, like karaoke and Casino Night. Other people in our party enjoyed it.

Best location, on the beach, friendly and fun in a hut.

Seaside Bar
This is the main pool bar.

Activities at Resort-
There were fun activities at the resort, pool volleyball, beach volleyball, mini golf, air rifle shooting, tennis, movies at night on the beach, Casino Night, karaoke, Pirate Show, whale watching from the beach, lounging in huts on the beach, beach walks, gym, spa, horseshoes, bocce ball, horseback riding, water aerobics,
The only complaint we have is that the activities had a time limit. We’d get really into pool volleyball and then it was over, even with 20 of us playing and loving it. We were loving karaoke and then the one hour time limit was up. Things close earlier than we would have liked too. The pool bar closed at like 7 and we wanted drinks in the pool later at night…
There are no water/ocean activities since you can’t get in the water at the resort.

Activities outside of resort-
Zip lining
This was a great large group activity! On each of the courses offered, you criss cross a canyon

Wave runners
We rented wave runners in the marina. One hour was enough and it was probably my favorite activity while we were there. You can go out around the arch and Lover’s Beach and you see boats, ships, seals, birds, cruise ships. You get very wet which I wasn’t aware of but it didn’t matter. It was super fun!!!

The submarine was fun. You can sit on top and look at the fabulous view or go underneath and see very cool colorful fish. Lots of us felt woozy but no one puked! It’s about an hour, you go out to the arch and turn and come back.

Cabo Wabo, Night Life
We had SOO much fun at Cabo Wabo. Great live music, packed, fun, wonderful night on the town. It’s a must see! We also had lunch here another day and it was great! We went to Squid Row and the Giggling Marlin during the day and that was even fun. It would have been great to see those two places at night!

A bunch of the guys with us went fishing. They caught 9 fish, 20 lbs. or more, tuna and sierra I believe. They had fun, had a great boat and a great captain. Three of them threw up but they all thought it was worth it.

This resort is located about halfway between San Jose del Cabo, the old town, and Cabo San Lucas, the active, fun city. You can get rides from the resort into either town for cheap. You can get rides to any activity, taxis or hotel shuttles. Quick, comfortable rides. The airport is in San Jose del Cabo.

Other Information…
I wouldn’t pay to upgrade to a honeymoon suite, they upgrade most people automatically and the regular rooms are fantastic, too!

Try the drink of the day everyday. Fun new drinks!

There are locals selling things on the beach. They can’t come past a certain point but be ready to tell them no, over and over again. They are nice and all, and some of the stuff they are selling is worth checking out. You can talk them down to a lower price, too.

This is our second all-inclusive resort and it is the way to go! We LOVE it! You DO get your money’s worth! Everything at the resort is included, activities, food, drinks, EVERYTHING! Once you leave the resort, you have to pay for outings and such but it’s reasonable and worthwhile.

This was a great resort for kids. We had a 2 year old and a 3 year old with us and they loved it. There weren’t many kids there. They played in the pool and on the beach and they liked the food. We didn’t use the Adventure Club at all so I can’t comment on that.

Let them know if it’s your anniversary or anything. They put a banner on your door and you get champagne and goodies in your room!

Have fun and take in every minute. This place in unforgettable!

We went to Dreams as part of a wedding party and had one issue after another.
The hotel had overbooked and put us next door in their sister resort. Really nice room, but we were completely away from the rest of the group and had to shuttle back and forth! My husband explained that he was in the wedding and how important it was for us to be there. We had even paid for an upgraded room that they gave most in our party for free! They were of no help to say the least. From the minute we got there they sat you down trying to sell you timeshares, and off resort excursion. We don't pay that kind of money to just leave the resort the whole time. The service was horrible! You would sit down at a restaurant and would have to find some one to take your order. The food was lousy! Cheese nachos consisted of 7 eleven watery cheese. The margaritas were terrible! This is Mexico right? There was almost nothing to do at the resort for entertainment at night. You pretty much had to go in to town to a bar or something.
They even messed up the reception food for the wedding. They forgot half the shrimp on plates that were suppose to accompany the steak. The steaks were hard and over done and there were only 4 tables of about 8 and they couldn't even serve the food all at the same time. Some people would be done while others hadn't even go their food. My advice is go to a Sandals Resort instead. It's the same price with amazing food, service that can't compare, and every activity you can think of on the resort. We have been twice to a Sandals Resort and will never go anywhere else!

We stayed at Dreams Jan.18-25/10, and enjoyed everything about it. The service, helpfulness, rooms, meals, views and peace were all excellent! We've been at two all-inclusives before, which were mainly or all buffet style. Here, breakfast is the only buffet one has to have, but is excellent. The rest of the meals are at 4 gourmet restaurants, so that we wished we had bigger stomachs to try more! The only thing I would change is the music piped in at the main pool - to something more soothing and fitting to the locale - "dreamy", if you will!

We stayed at Dreams Los Cabo for our Honeymoon in June 2009, stayed 2 weeks and we would go back in a heart beat! Service was amazing.....pool & beach side service...HELLO! Who can ask for anything more! Juliana was our best waitress! All the restaurants were great, the only one that was still good but not as famous is Portofino, the Italian Restaurant. Seaside grill was our all time favourite as well as Himitsu. During our second week stay the opened up the Cafe located at the front of the reception, luckily they did because their regular coffee served for dinner or breakfast was just OK. But the Coco cafe was AMAZING (I'm a coffee freak!). Room service is included and was very good! Midnight Fajitas or Nachos were the best. Their room service breakfast was also very good....we had that very often! Our room was 612, top floor in the middle with a Beautiful view of the Ocean! Can't ask for anything more! Excursions: Take an hour of your time and go see the time share people, they are all in the lobby of the hotel, trust me, you will pay pennies for your excursions if you are interested in doing so. We did the Caborey Cruise, which is a sunset cocktail/dinner/show cruise, it was beautiful. During the cocktail there was a live band playing amazing rock songs on the boat. we also did the snorkeling, actually i stayed in the boat but my husband went and he loved it! The food was fantastic as well. The third excursion we did was the ATV...ok....Very fun for men.....life threatening for women unless you ride with your partner (which i did not! Thought i was tough enough)...so lets just say i wasn't amazed by that one, just wanted to get back to the hotel...my husband on the other hand had a blast! Try to rent a car if you will plan on gong to the cities often. they have shuttles at the hotel but it gets very expensive. Also if you plan on taking a cab, a 1km route or 20km route will cost you the same thing! We went to eat at the famous Esperanza hotel. IT IS WORTH EVERY PENNY! If you want to pay yourself a nice outing, i strongly suggest you go there for dinner. The food was just unbelievable....I mean, i don't think i have ever eaten that well anywhere. It's quite pricey but like i mentioned, worth it! The night shows were good, but when your there 2 weeks in tends to repeat itself. the karaoke nights were funny. It's always very entertaining to watch drunk people try to sing! PEPE!! The best bartender in the world! Don't be fooled by is height...this man is sensational! The most important thing is to spot your waiters tip them and you will have an outstanding service throughout you stay! I had some treatments done at the spa, it was very enjoyable. The gym is very nice, not very big but does the job for a good workout (after all those drinks). TWISTER you must try that drink, it is phenomenal! Rooms were clean at all times, bed was very comfortable. We visited Cabo San Lucas many times, the mall was still under construction....but for us women we always find something to buy :) Didn't have a chance to visit San Jose del Cabo, looking forward of doing so next time! In all it was a fantastic honeymoon, great location and absolutely no complains about the Dreams! We are now going to the Dreams in Punta Cana, this chain is really "Ultimate Luxury" If you have any questions feel free to message me!

The service at Dreams was excellent! We had a Deluxe Suite which was wonderful. More room than anyone would need! All rooms are ocean view and the resort has less than 300 rooms I believe, which was great.
The food was top notch. No reservations at any restaurant. Only one buffet-we were used to 2 or 3 buffets at other resorts. Good choices on menu. Waiters were very attentive. There is an Italian and an Asian restaurant-We tried the Italian last night there and it was delicious! Didn't try the Asian. Great seafood at the Oceana.
3 pools-plenty of room. Lots of daily activities if you were interested. This was definetely a "no worry" vacation. Took resort shuttle in to Cabo twice. Reasonably priced too. Taxis are expensive.
We will check out "Dreams" at other locations! This one was great.

We did not stay at this hotel but did go to Oceanos for dinner one evening as we had a guest pass from the hotel next door, Casa del Mar.
The food was awful; we felt as though we were at a wedding...all pre-prepared and tasteless.
The waiter was so angry that we didn't tip him, that we could understand what he said when he returned back to the kitchen and overheard his remark.

We couldn't wait to get out of there.

One evening, we heard the loud music playing from a distance at our hotel...
Luckily we did not have the condos right next door as one could not sleep from the noise of Dreams....overall, would not ever stay there!

We are a family of four with two kids aged 6 and 7. We spent a week at Dreams Los Cabos during Thanksgiving to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We stayed at Dreams Puerto Vallarta in 2008, loved it so much and decided to try another Dreams resort. This is our first trip to Cabo. Prior to our trip, we read lots of very informative reviews on the forum so we will focus our review from a family’s perspective. Overall, we very much enjoyed the resort and had a great time.

Check-in and Rooms:
We arrived at the resort around 3pm and check-in was a breeze. The resort was beautiful and looks very new and well-maintained. The staff was very efficient and friendly. We stayed in a 2-bedroom master suite, which is comprised of a standard one-bedroom suite (#5530) connecting to a junior suite (#5529). The suite is located on the top floor (5th floor) at the eastern most end of the resort. Dreams Los Cabos is located right next to a very busy road (as are most resorts on the Corridor) and we were very concerned with the road noise as we could see the traffic and hear the noise standing in the open-air hallway waiting for the bell to unlock the door. However, once we are inside, we were extremely happy with the panoramic, unobstructed ocean view, the 3 balconies, and absolutely beautiful decor of the rooms. The road noise turned out to be a non-issue, as it was muffled by the sound of the ocean. Since it’s an end-unit facing the quiet pool, and there is a wide storm wash separating Dreams and the resort next door it felt extremely private.

In the one-bedroom portion of the suite, there is a bedroom with a four-poster king-size bed, and a large living-ding room combo with a sofa, two chairs, a wetbar, and a dining table for 6; in the junior suite there are two twin beds, a very large sitting area with a sofa, a desk, and a small table for 2. In the two bedroom suite there is a total of 3 DVD players, 3 safe-deposit boxes, and 3 mini-fridges that were stocked with complementary water, Corona and Pacifico beer, soda, and juice daily. Housekeeping usually comes in mid-morning for a complete cleaning, and once again in the evening for turn-down service. On the second day after we checked-in, the concierge surprised us with a complementary bottle of sparkling wine and fruit basket, and a beautifully decorated bedroom with rose petals and candles.

Food: Since we were there for 7 days, we had dined multiple times at all of the 5 restaurants at the resort and we would rate the food from mediocre to excellent. The best food and service by far was Portofino, the formal Italian restaurant. Himitsu, the Asian restaurant, was average but service was excellent. Oceana, the seafood restaurant, was very good. We had breakfast buffet at El Patio every morning and it was excellent. They also had a themed dinner by the pool almost every night and the Mexican buffet was excellent. Seaside Grill was the most disappointing in terms of the quality of food and services, especially during lunch. There is also a small take-out Café by the Explorer’s Club and the kids go there everyday for sandwiches and desserts. For a resort this size, we were surprised that the beach was not very crowded and we could get a palapa after breakfast almost everyday. Beach food and beverage service was excellent. Room service, which is also included, was prompt and good, except that you cannot get fruit after breakfast hours. Therefore, we always assembled a platter of fruit at the breakfast buffet at El Patio, and the waiters there were always happy to cover it with a plastic wrap and provided plastic utensils for us to bring back to our room. Every night there are at least 3 dining options to choose from and we would rate the food (and beverage) service at the resort overall as outstanding!

Beverage: There are a few complementary wines (mostly Chilean) on the wine list at most restaurants and a fairly extensive wine list for purchase. We ordered a bottle of Italian wine at Portofino that was very good. One night we decided to bring the complementary sparkling wine the concierge gave us for anniversary to Portofino and they were happy to serve the wine with no extra charge. My husband liked the variety of beer and beverages served at the swim-up and beach bars. The bartender will serve cocktails with top-shelf liquor upon request. We had to provide our room number at the swim-up bars but there was no paper to sign. Once the servers know our kids, they were able to get juices and smoothies on their own from the bars as well.

Kid’s Club:
There is a complementary kid’s club (Explorer’s Club) that is open from 9am to 10pm, closing only from 5-6pm, the so-called shower time. The facility is located next to the check-in area. It looks well-kept with a small sandy playground and a gated entrance. The facility is completely fenced-in and the staff is vigilant in keeping the gate locked and parents are not allowed in the facility. At the front entrance there are several close-circuit monitors hung next to the gate so parents could come anytime to observe the activities inside. There are structured, closely supervised activities for the kids throughout the day. Since our kids had a great time at the kids club in Dreams Puerto Vallarta, we had no reservations about leaving our children there and knew they were having a great time. There’s a schedule of their daily activities published in the resort’s daily newsletter that was delivered to our room in the previous evening. Theoretically one can drop off and pick up your child any time during the day, although one should check the daily schedule in advance as the kids need to be checked-in at the Explorer’s Club and one cannot drop-off the kids at the pool or at the beach in the middle of an activity. We truly appreciate this kind of vigilant policy, as we are in a foreign country in a beach resort and we would not feel comfortable leaving our kids at the kids club if they did not have a strict policy regarding our children’s safety.
As expected, our kids had a great time at the Explorer’s Club and were looking forward to it everyday. The kids had tennis lessons, built sand castles, searched for sand crabs, and did bungee-trampoline on the beach. Usually after breakfast we would drop the kids off at the kids club for a few hours, pick them up for lunch, and spend the afternoon together as a family. A few afternoons the kids went back for a special activity (e.g. bead-making or video game contest) that they heard about in the morning. Every night at 6pm parents can drop their kids at the Explorer’s Club and order dinner from the Room Service menu. The staff would place the order and at around 7pm, take the kids down to the buffet restaurant to have dinner. In the beginning my husband and I were concerned they may be too tired in the evenings to go back to the kids club. However, the kids begged to go back so they could have dinner with their new friends and after two nights of rushing through dinner to go pick up the kids only to be told that our kids didn’t want to leave yet, we started to relax and really enjoyed the time to have nice dinner by ourselves and to reconnect.

Negatives were very few at this Dreams property. As mentioned previously the only disappointment we had was the service at the Seaside Grill. In addition, the first night we were there were significant noise and loud music from workers lingering after repair work in the unit right below us but one call to the front desk quickly solved the problem. One thing to note is that the time-share people in the lobby never bothered us or even approached us, and the tour/sightseeing operators in the lobby were more than helpful.

Overall we had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation with our children and are very happy that we chose to spend our 15th anniversary at Dreams Los Cabos. We are already planning a family vacation to another Dreams property in Riviera Maya for Thanksgiving this year!
