We visited from April 24 - 30, 2006. Last year we went around May 17.
The Bad -- no rep. from GBS and No Pool Chairs
We did the all inclusive this year. GBS tried to rip us off, they told us it was going to be $100 pp at the resort and sold us on $85, when we got there they were offering $70pp. No one wanted to help us and we had to use our cell phone to call GBS in Miami and I did convince them to credit us the $180 difference. That was really the only disappointment. Oh well, other than the fact that there are just too many big groups at this place and they tend to hog all of the chairs at the main pool and as anyone knows, big groups can tend to get obnoxious too. We discovered the lower pool by the beach which was much more peaceful with a fabulous ocean breeze and much better service from the bar too. Until our last day, when the hotel took all of the chairs from that pool for the day to set up for a dinner for -- get this -- a group of 120 people. That's the sort of thing that continues to bug us about Dreams, but if you're just 2 people, you can usually squeeze in somewhere just swipe an unused pool float and float away.
The Excellent -- The staff was always friendly and accomodating. We brought about $200 in $5's and $1's and used most of them. Tip the housekeeping staff and you'll get adorable towel swans, and many other special touches in your room. Plus our room was always cleaned early (we left $2 - $3 each day). Service is a little slow in resaturants, but that's just Cabo, the restaurants at Dreams are actually better than most in town (where you always have to wait and ask for your check). I don't know if service was different for people who don't tip, but we were always well taken care of. Theresa at Oceana is a sweetheart and wins the employee of the week award for us!
We met some very nice people on this trip and had some good fun.
Dreams is great, but don't forget to go into Cabo San Lucas and have some real fun and fabulous food. Worst case, go to Modano Beach for a day, eat lunch at The Office on the beach and rent some kyaks or jet skis or something.
Best of all, go with a good attitude and just relax.
