we LOVED dreams los cabos. the resort was beautiful! we loved the streams, fountains and open air lobby. unless your resort includes airport transfers, i would book before you leave with transcabo. they are reliable and have a website you can book through. I think we paid $50 for 2 of us roundtrip. BIG NOTE....if transcabo is taking you back to the airport at the end of your stay, you're supposed to call them a day or two beforehand to let them know you will still be needing their services. this is written on your confirmation...don't forget.

upon arrival, we were given champagne & chocolate chip cookies. we were upgraded to a suite i was later told went for $800/night. it had a bedroom, pretty big bathroom, walk-in closet, living room & small kitchen w/table & chairs. we were on the first floor yet we could still see the beach & ocean. we brought a good bit of money for tips....we had heard this was a must at dreams. we generally left the maid $2 each day & also left a few bucks at the restaurants after meals. i think we spent about $100 in tips for the 5 nights we were there. all rooms have a minibar and much to our surprise, it was stocked daily!! we were also happy to know that room service was included in the all inclusive deal. (very good club sandwich) note: not everyone at this resort is on the all inclusive plan...so you have to tell your waiters & bartenders your room number. tip: if your package includes a free spa massage or golf or anything...bring the printout from your confirmation or the webpage printout....they do want proof. it didn't seem that they had it on file there.

the food was wonderful!!!! we'd been to all-inclusives in cancun and did not love the food. however, at dreams....we were thrilled with almost every meal. oceania was our favorite....be sure to get their mahi mahi at lunctime...and dinner too. while we love japanese, the japanese restaurant was not our favorite. we did not try portofino. i heard mixed reviews on el patio. the night we went was steak night.....it was very good! you choose your steak & they cook it for you on the grill. we also wanted fish...so they made us some special fish. that was nice. breakfast was also pretty good at el patio. there is a lady who makes smoothies in the mornings from fresh fruit...heard they were good but when we went to get one there were flies all over the fruit so we passed. the poolside service is also very nice. they actually have VERY good cheesburgers & margharita pizza!!! be sure to bring some pants for men & a sundress or something nice for women. almost all the restaurants bring a complimentary appetizer or special drink. we ordered the jalapeno poppers at the poolside restaurant and they were really good. that's the good thing about all-inclusives, order anything you want to try!

one thing we loved about this resort are the fun things to do. the towel station by the main pool has a listing of what is happening every day. plus, the check-in desk can give you a brochure. i especially enjoyed yoga at 4p by the beach and water aerobics at noon in the pool. water aeorbics was really fun....patricia was the instructor and she was hilarious! my husband liked the putting contest each day at 1p. there was a movie night...that particular night is was "ray" but it sounded like it was usually a cartoon kids movie like "incredibles." as for pirate night.....unless you have small kids...SKIP IT! it was really cheesy & dumb. oh, be sure to go to kareyoke night at the beach bar.....we only caught the last bit of it but it was clear EVERYONE was having a blast. get there early so you can get a seat on the swings at the bar. by about 10p each night, the resort had pretty much shut down the partying & activities. of course, on nights you're looking to party, you'll probably be downtown.

the resort has a complimentary bus that will take you back & forth to the city....but you have to book it a day in advance. it's not huge...and it's first come, first serve. we never rode it. it will not take you to the airport. we rode the city bus alot. i think it was about $1 per person each way. the ride to the town of cabo is about 20-25 minutes. the actual bus stop shelters aren't usually there. usually you just stand along the side of the road & wave them down. at dreams, just cross the street & stand on the side of the road. the city buses are orange & blue. just be sure the driver sees you or he'll pass by. most stops don't have an actual bus stop shelter so it's kind of confusing. another strange thing is that you have to tell the driver when he's coming up on your stop...or else he'll go right by it. and when you're heading into town from dreams, the down town stop is just after you make a sharp right hand turn. most of the drive is fairly straight...you turn right & then get off at the next stop. when you are heading into town, be sure to pay attention to which resorts are before yours so you can give the driver a heads up on when to stop. we were counting on landmarks like a hill but it was very dark & you can't see a thing at night on the bus! when you're coming back to dreams from downtown, go to the bus shelter outside of the paradiso mall. by the way, the mall has nice bathrooms if you are downtown and need to go. very clean. another tip, the buses stop at 10p.

as for downtown, there is lots of shopping and bars. the main bars are el squid roe, cabo wabo & giggling marlin. the giggling marlin was way fun!!!! watch for the kids trying to sell you things on the corners...very sad!

one negative, EVERYWHERE you go people will try to give you free stuff or discounts if you'll listen to their timeshare offers. we only listened to one....it was at our hotel....it took exactly as long as they said (i think it was an hour & half) and once you looked them in the eye and said "we're not interested" they got the hint....but you have to be blunt b/c they will keep on reducing the price until it's only a portion of what they originally offered you. you do get a free breakfast out of the deal and also discounts on the excursions. before you go, be sure you know for sure what excursions you're interested in...and i'd suggest doing it the first full day you are there so you can get it out of the way & also so you will be able to book your excursions.

2nd (and only other) negative, due to the fact that the sea of cortez and pacific ocean meet in cabo, the ocean is very tumultuous & dangerous. we couldn't even put feet in the water. my husband got in to his ankles & the little man who worked there came & made him get out! the negative is that you can't get in the water...the positive of this is that as a result, everyone stays around the pool which means that it's very quite & peaceful on the beach. no loud kids, screaming moms or radios. it's just you & the loud ocean. i loved it! every afternoon around 4p, my husband & i would just go sit on the beach & enjoy the sight & sound of the ocean. it was fantastic!

another note: if you happen to need a doctor while you are there, the front desk can send one to your room. it will cost about $90 but it's better than sitting in a mexican hospital on your vacation. they can also bring prescriptions to your room.

excursions: we saved alot of money by booking our deep sea fishing trip at the actual marina rather than at our resort. when you go downtown, you can't miss the marina...it's behind the paradiso mall. just walk along the boardwalk & they'll be people selling trips. note: you can definitely bargain....don't take the first price they offer you. we also did a sunset cruise on a catamaran....very fun!!!!! be sure to sit up front along the netting. free drinks, loud music, fun people...we loved it! skip the ones that include dinner....the dinners on these things are usually really bad!

Having traveled to Cancun and Mexico City many times, my expectations for my first trip to Cabo were LOW. Dreams exceeded my expectations on every level. My husband & I were greeted with champagne upon check-in, and our Honeymoon Suite was more than adequate. The bed was surprisingly comfortable - I slept like a baby! And what a treat it was to find that the pool outside the Honeymoon Suites was the QUIET pool!

We enjoyed all of the restaurants except El Patio, but only because we don't like buffet meals. We have no complaints about the quality of any of the food, or the service. Himitsu (the Japanese restaurant) was our absolute favorite - contrary to popular belief!!! Be sure to order the Thai Spring Rolls. If you are traveling with kids, the Seaside Grill is a must.

Our only complaints are that the bathtub faucet didn't work in our suite (but we never really wanted to sit in a hot bath since we had the warm, quiet pool right outside), and several times a day our room would fill with a faint smell of sewage. But, we took it as a positive - that meant it was time to go back to the bar!

I echo the comments of others on the housekeeping staff. They did an amazing job. We left $5 a day, from day 1, and always received prompt and thorough service (at least twice a day). On the third day, we were surprised with a towel art elephant, decorated with fresh Hibiscus flowers. We received fresh flowers every day from that point on. The minibar isn't stocked regularly, so that may require a phonecall to the front desk.

I know I'm rambling...but PLEASE tip your bartender if you actually like some liquor in your drinks! Tip $2 on the first drinks you order, and $2 more on your third order. I promise that this will ensure a heavy pour. Get to know your bartender. Ask him what his favorite drinks are - and order them! Your bartender is also an excellent resource for testing conversational Spanish!

Speaking of Spanish, here are my final words of advice where the Spanish language is concerned: LEARN YOUR ROOM NUMBER IN SPANISH. Learn that "satisfecho/a" means "I'm full. Take this plate away." Learn that "Yo igualmente" means "I want what he just ordered."

On the tour/excursion type activities, I will say that you should do your research and only go with a tour company who seems reputable. We went through Baja Explorer and did the Pirate Sunset Cruise and the 2.5 hour ATV tour through MotoSol and were extremely pleased with both.

My final words. If you are looking for a honeymoon location, Dreams is for you. If you are looking for an anniversary celebration, Dreams is for you. Dreams is for lovers. They do offer ample activities for children of all ages in case your children are a part of your travel plans. I do NOT recommend this hotel for singles or college groups. This is NOT a party resort, but you can take a short bus ride into the city to feed your craving!

This hotel is fabulous and breath-takingly beautiful. My boyfriend and I just returned from a 5 day trip over Labor Day. The hotel is gorgeous, all the restaurants have great food (the SeaSide Grill was our favorite), there is a plentiful amount of bars, the pools are clean and well maintaintaned, and the rooms are very large and clean. There are nightly activities at the hotel, or you can take a free shuttle to Cabo San Lucas(just be sure to sign up a few hours ahead). The service is amazing. I have never seen people work so hard for guests. It was obvious that they worked long, hard hours and never once were grumpy or complained. On that note, please TIP!! I saw so many people not tip, and its not right. Just because you are All Inclusive doesn't mean you shouldnt tip. A couple of dollars goes a long way in Mexico. Reward them for their hardwork!

This is a great resort for people who want to eat, drink, sunbathe, and relax. It is not for Spring Breakers because although Cabo San Lucas is only 15 minutes away, it would be a pain trying to go there to party everynight - not to mention expensive!

I definitely want to go back soon!! I cant wait!

Just came back from Mazatlan from a five-night stayed at ElCid Marina. Rested for two days and headed back to Cabos for another four-night fishing trip stayed at Dreams. I rated Dreams a solid 4.5 stars.
Dreams is a very nice resort. It’s right in the middle between San Jose and Cabos, 15 minutes drive to either end. The ground is well kept and beautiful. Upon check-in, the bell boy (Carlos) immediately valet park our car, took our luggage and walked us to the check-in desk. Check-in was fast. We were given two rooms on the 5th floor at the end of the building. It was like five minutes walk to the lobby but we didn’t mind. Carlos then walked us to the bar and got us margaritas for everyone before walking us to our room. That was nice and appreciated. When we got to our rooms, Carlos explained to us what’s included in our AI package. Basically, everything from 24-hrs room service to all the drinks in the mini-bar(beers, soft drinks, juices, etc..). The only thing is not included is if you ask them to get you box lunch for fishing trip. I was told that the box lunch is $8 extra. However, you can always order room service, then drive to the local market and buy boxes/foil papers and pack your lunch for fishing trip. Take the drinks in the mini-bar to fishing and they’ll refill them the next day. I think about 20 drinks total.
Room: Very clean with Terry robes and slippers. If you want a good ocean view room, ask for the highest floor room (5th floor). 2nd or 3rd floor rooms may be blocked by coconut/palm trees. I only have two minor complains about the room. 1. Water pressure in the shower was very weak. Not sure if the hotel was trying to save water or they have plumbing problem. Both of our rooms had slow water flow in the shower. 2. Maid service. We left our room to fishing from 6AM came back at 3PM and our rooms was not cleaned. We had to call house keeping getting it cleaned. On the 2nd day fishing, we called house keeping at 6AM and there were no answer so we called the front desk and requested the rooms to be cleaned by 3PM. When we got back, again, the rooms were not cleaned despite we tipped them $2 each day.
Food: Love it. Compare to the ElCid at Mazatlan, it’s like heaven and hell. Our favorite was the Oceana restaurant but all of them were very good except the Asian restaurant. If you’re staying for five or more days, try them all. But if you’re staying only four days or less, you can skip the Asian restaurant. I’m not picky on food and only rated the Asian restaurant a 1*. The rest is either 4 or 5 star food.
Facility: Very good. It has four or five pools with one adult-only pool. Bars everywhere. You can grab a drink easily anywhere on the hotel ground. We loved the No-wrist band policy. All you have to do is tell the waiter your room # when you sit down. I hate to wear a wristband at other resorts. They have different activity everyday. The live music at the lobby area was very good.
Tips:
Rent a car in Cabos. It’s very easy to drive just like the US. If you’re in Mazatlan, that would be a different story. We rented a mid-size car for only $11 a day plus $11 liability insurance.
For those of you who go fishing, Dreams will freeze the fish for you with no extra charge. Just make sure that they store the fish in the back of the freezer. We froze 25 bags of Tunas and by the time we took them out, 5 of the 25 bags were only half frozen. They told us the five bags were stored at the front of the freezer and since the chefs kept opening the freezer, those five bags were not completely frozen.
We took the Jet Ski snorkeling tour. The price was $140 but we bargained down to $100 and took four jet skies out. May that’s why they gave us the discount. We had a very good time on the Jet Ski tour.
Ok, the million-dollar question is will I come back to Dreams? The answer is YES but I may try out RIU since it has a good rating as well. Now, people may ask which location is better, Mazatlan or Cabos. Because Cabos has better resorts, I’d prefer Cabos over Mazatlan. If you want to have a feel of Mexico, Mazatlan would be a better choice. Everything is much cheaper in Matz than Cabos. But if you’re here for the resort and fishing, stick with Cabos. That’s my opinion

We just returned yesterday from Dreams and had a wonderful vacation. We are a family of 6 with kids aged 14(twins), 12 and 10. Overall, everything was excellent. We had two junior suites next to each other which was fine, and overlooking the quiet pool. One of the shower heads did not work(no water at all) in the boys bathroom, but within 15 minutes it was replaced and working better than my shower at home! The front desk offered to move us at first, but after looking at the alternative rooms overlooking the main pool, we decided to stay in our quiet location.
The kids enjoyed all the activities from the beach soccer, pool volleyball, water aerobics, ping pong and bungee jumping. A big thank you to Moises. My daughter waited in line in the hot sun one day only for the rope to break. The next day Moises went searching for her to be the first in line that day. We found most of the staff to be very friendly and caring with the kids and with us. As with any resort, there are are certain individuals who are friendlier and go above and beyond. It was my husband's birthday one day so Alejandro at the Barracuda Bar poured a round of Don Julio for everyone seated at the bar that afternoon, after we had sipped Miami Vices and Dirty Monkeys! Welcome to Mexico! The hammocks on the beach were great for an afternoon siesta!
We found all the restaurants to be good and we tried them all. Some of the dishes we liked better than others, but that goes for any restaurant, right? For lunch we especially enjoyed the shrimp cocktail, guacamole, and fish tacos. We have traveled to Italy, and we loved the Portofino restaurant. Service was slow at times but we were on vacation! One night the kids ordered dinner in their room and and it was great. They especially liked the chocolate cake. The theme nights were fun and we thought the buffet food was pretty good. The dishes were replenished frequently and if something ran out you only had to ask and they would bring it out for you. And what could be better than watching movies on the beach, under the stars every night? I was really apprehensive about staying here after reading some of the awful reviews. After seeing for myself I can't see how we could have been staying at the same place!
Yes, you are in Mexico, and at the end of August it is extemely hot and humid, and there are flies sometimes, but please, if you didn't want to be outside having food there were always a couple of indoor, air-conditioned alternatives. Let's face it, we could all sweat the small details but I think this place does a really good job for an all inclusive resort. Last year we stayed at the Mauna Lani Bay Hotel in Hawaii and I thought the staff at Dreams were much friendlier. The location is to die for. The only drawback was the ocean not being swimmable but we knew that going in. We visited a couple of other beaches and swam there. I thought Dreams pool area more than made up for it.
So please go, enjoy, and have a drink in the pool overlooking the beautiful ocean for me!
