Just got back from the resort yesterday. I was amazed to read some of the reviews here before we left for Cabo. My wife finally asked me to stop as I was getting stressed.

I was pleasantly surprised by most aspects of the trip. My wife and I (around 30yrs old, no kids) had a good time. It was relaxing, fun, and romantic. I think if you are easygoing, and are happy to get to the beach, then you'll enjoy yourself. "Mexico time" is not "USA time". Things are slower and you have to be more patient (for food, tables, etc). You're on vacation, relax. The key is to enjoy the view, enjoy the sound of the ocean, and slow down. On the other hand, if you think that you should be treated as if you are at The Four Seasons in the US, you may be disappointed (but you didn’t pay for it either).

It’s true, there are bees, a lack of pool floats, and people save the chairs. Ask to borrow a float when others are not using it, sit out by the beach, and don’t swat at the bees. I think people complain sometimes just for attention. It’s kind of like a crying baby. We had a great vacation. The food was pleasant (not spectacular, but pleasant) Oddly enough, our best dinner was at the pool grill at night. A great view of the waves and a cool breeze. The food is about the same at all restaurants. If you go to Mexico and opt to eat sushi, you're on your own, I can’t vouch for it. We stuck with margaritas, tacos, and the occasional steak or fish. The Mexican food was good and the views made it better. The Italian restaurant is back in a corner, not very scenic (and hot), so I would pass if given the chance again.

This was our one year anniversary and we returned to our room on the first night to find candles, rose petals all over the bed, a bath ready for us, and soft music. Needless to say, my wife thought I had arranged the whole thing. I confessed, but it was a very nice touch by the staff.

Bring $100 in one dollar bills, it should last you your entire stay. A buck when you belly up to the bar will do wonders, and they work hard for you. Leave a few bucks for the maid, and you won’t have any of the problems that people complain about here, we had no issues whatsoever. The front desk was attentive, the room clean and the service was perfectly fine.

If interested, walk out to the street, take a bus west (to the left), and get off in Cab san Lucas (you can’t miss it). It’ll cost you $1 and is safe, easy and air conditioned. We had a bunch of mariachis on the bus that sang the whole way, very awesome. Stay away from the “welcome tour” by the folks at the desks at the front when you check in. Kindly say “we’ll be back down after we drop off our bags” and they will let you be. They are the time share sales people and will assuredly keep you there for an hour or two. Don’t bother, move on to the bar for a cocktail.

Here’s my last bit of advice: You’re in another country, so try and speak the language and enjoy a different culture, cuisine, and pace of daily life. Mexico is a beautiful and friendly place if you treat her with respect and kindness. The staff will help you with anything you need if you smile and say “por favor” and “gracias!”.

I recently stayed in Los Cabos and had heard many good things and bad things about the town. I also read many good things and bad about many of their all-inclusive resorts. I decided to try Dreams because it had the best reviews with a few short changed customers. Upon arriving, we were not greated with champagne, but it seemed everyone around us did. I might say I was disappointed and wanted to turn into the "ugly American", but I thought I would just relax and see what the whole package was about. I didn't want to let something so insignificant bring me down on my first day on vacation.

Check in was smooth. We were taken to our rooms (I booked w/ Travelocity and our upgrade was honored) we had a beautiful room with a dirty bathroom. Strike two so it seemed. I quickly called and was patient and kindly told the front desk that "my room was dirty and I would like another room please". I believe that a little courtesy goes along way despite my inconveniences at the time, I was still hanging onto patience. They switched my room immediately and gave us a great room on the top floor which had the most spectacular view of the ocean(same layout, just higher).

As for the little things....the minibar. Not a "minibar" by American standards, but we're not in America, so I had to content myself with sodas (including diet), Pacificos, and Corona. If I really had to have a drink, I could call at anytime, any minute, it was great! As a matter of fact, I had champange delivered everyday! (don't order bottles, they charge for bottles, but you can order a million glasses and that's okay!)

Food... food was okay. Nothing to scream about, but good. They have five restuarants and all were pretty good. I stayed away from the buffets because I really didn't care for them. I generally stayed at the sit down restuarant. The wines were tolerable, the service was good, I ate inside to get some AC action. For the most part, it was good and neither of us got sick. The breakfast was fantastic! I like Mexican food, so I'm biased. Plenty of fresh fruit and other items that would suit anyone's palate.

Service was good. People have to remeber there are a lot of guests and the servers were trying their best to get around. I was on vacation so I was okay and patient. I always tipped when I had a drink or dined. Employees were really receptive and we received better service each day. The tipping is generally 10%, but I tipped standard 15%. You don't have to tip, but it shows good taste. Bring $50 in fives and singles. They lasted us 7 nights and we still had plenty to spare between the two of us.

Housekeeping was great. Twice a day and sheets changed daily. Some rooms are ocean front. Try to get ocean front, it's worth the cost and it makes the stay even better (that's why you flew out so far, don't cut corners). Bathrooms and floor are tiled in marble, very nice touch. Spa was fantastic! They have safes in the room that worked very well.

Mosquitos! I got chewed up. Bring something for the mosquitos if you are the type of person that is prone to them. If you have children, I saw lot's of organized activities for them. The pools were nice and big (kinda of warm), get out early for a lounge chair (8:00-9:00ish) cabanas too (they have about 10-12). There is an adult only pool that was great (still warm), but very quiet, with an adult only dining as well. Their menu was the best!

The beach is not accessible, but still very beautiful to sit, hear, and watch the waves crash. This, I have to say was the absolute best part of the trip. Just to be able to sit on the beach and watch the waves crash, with a beer, and the feeling of solitude and utter relaxation. You cannot put a price on that! Most visitors were the pool, so I felt I had the beach all to myself. Take your iPod! Concert on the beach. The sun is intense, so bring some heavy duty sunscreen.

A little unknown fact about the hotels on the corridor. They have an agreement which you can visit any of the neighboring hotels and use their pools. Some ask for a small charge for other amenities, but the pool use is free. So, if you get bored of your pool, visit the other hotels while you take a walk.

They have a shuttle service into Cabos for guests. There are only a few shuttles out to town and the last returning shuttle is at 6:30 from town. You have to get up really early to make a reservation as there are only about 8 people to a shuttle. The theme nights were cute and cheesy. Movie night at the pool was nice. Overall, it was a great deal. You have to go with an open mind, ready for anything, and patience. It may take a few minutes to get what you want, but you'll probably get it. They will take care of you. I did hear a few guests get rerouted to another facility. Make sure you book with a good travel company, no last minute deals and "special" offers. I booked my trip 2 months in advance and got an amazing deal. Dreams is a great beach resort, it's not the Ritz, but certainly very nice.

Stay away from time share monsters, unless you want something for free. The town of Los Cabos, nice, fairly clean, friendly people, and some great little cafes. I stayed at the resort, it was relaxing. If you want to go into town often, this place is a little to far to do daily runs. The bus shuttle is across the street ($2) and people are nice on the buses. I would recommend Dreams and go back in a heart beat.

While out of my room.... housekeeping took some of my items. I informed the front desk, security and management. Over a month later I was offered a "free message" if I would return.... NEVER !!!!!!!!! I truly feel that there was no respect for me as a guest

My items were never returned.

I'm writing this review while still in Mexico, just not at Dreams. After spending a horrible night at Dreams, my group (2 families of 4), switched hotels and are now staying at Melia (A hearty thank you to Expedia). Where to start my review?

After arriving at Dreams, we were handed cold towels by the bell desk- this was the high point of our night. The front desk clearly had an attitude problem(I've experienced this in Cabo before). We arrived at 2:00- check was for 3, and we were a little early. Our room, however, wasn't ready until after 4. The bellboy lost our luggage, mixing it up with another couples' luggage, and then left it to me to find the people and switch it myself. No apologies.

Despite waiting over 2 hours for the room, it was filthy upon check-in. There was a lumpy looking brown substance on the couch, which I am praying was chocolate. The bathroom was a mess. No towels. We had to call several times to get it cleaned, and even then it left a lot to be desired.

While we were enjoying our experience, our travelmates were having problems of their own. Their shower did not work. The toilet didn't flush- I guess thier room had plumbing problems. And electrical ones- they had to air conditioning(It's 100 degrees here in August-a lack of AC is unacceptable). After trying to fix the shower for 40 minutes, my friends were informed that they weren't going to be able to fix it during their stay- but no other room was offered. When we explained these issues to the hotel manager, he just shrugged and said that he was the weekend manager only. Thanks.

We then went to lunch. After being told by 4 waiters that there was no children's menu, we tried to order food for my picky eating children off of the adult menu-when they realized that this was going to be difficult, a kid's menu magically appeared. The waitstaff was the most passive aggressive group that I have encountered.

They have a great swim-up bar/bars. Lots of bartenders there. Only problem, none of them seemed to work unless you waved dineros in the air. Magically, they come to life.

Trying to go to dinner was equally challenging. We got a "buzzing" type of pager, and were told that it would be 20-30 minutes later. We checked after 40 minutes and were told just a little longer. After an hour and a half, we went back where they told us with a smile that they tried to page us, but then gave our table away- they claimed that our pager must have been broken! Then the host tried to goad me into fight because he was adamant that it was our fault because we didn't stay at the restaurant (I thought that's what the pager was for).

Thankfully, Expedia rescued us from this "Nightmare". They were able to switch us to Melia Cabo Real, where we have been having a great time. Stay tuned for my review of Melia, which has been great. Please heed my advice-avoid the nightmare that is "Dreams."

My husband and I and another couple spent the week at this resort celebrating our anniversaries. We thought this place was awesome. The rooms were nicley appointed. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good. But the best thing was the view of ocean and the mountains (sets the mood for romance). You will need to go to Cabo for night life as not much goes on at the resort after 10:30 pm. We highly suggest renting a car as it easy to get around the area. This is the place to go if you want to relax and unwind from the every day stresses of life.
