My husband and I spent five nights at Dreams from July 9-14. We really enjoyed our time there and even better my husband was impressed (tough critic) and my expectations were fulfilled.
We arrived at the airport and had to repeat no gracias a few times before finding our shuttle to the hotel (Transcabo). The transportation was very professional, there was a shuttle waiting for us at the airport and I would recommend Transcabo to others. Once we arrived at the hotel check in was easy.
I booked the trip through Orbitz and after reading a few reviews I was very nervous that we would be bumped. But we were quickly checked in and headed up to our room (324) with no problem.
The room looked exactly like all the pictures I'd seen. I did smell a slight mildew odor that seemed to come from the shower curtain but it wasn't enough to bother us. The balancony was large but our view of the ocean was slightly blocked by the gorgeous palm trees on the grounds. Because of this we switched to a higher room (616) after two nights. The new room had no smell and we had a great view of the ocean. We spent a long time sitting on the balcony watching the waves crash on the beach.
The food was very good and we never had to wait for seating at dinner. The bed was comfortable (mattress pad and egg crate on bed) and the in room DVD was a nice feature and the movies on the beach were very cool.

I knew in advance that we could not swin in the ocean which turned out to be more disappointing then I expected although the 15 minute walk to the Hilton wasn't bad and we spent several hours there swimming. We also rented wave runners at the swimming beach for 30 minutes and had a blast.
The hotel shuttle was booked all day when we tried to go to town so we took the bus which turned out to be very easy.
Overall we had a great trip. I did have an unfortuntate experience with one of the hotel staff (Idilia) who interrogated us when we arrived about time share opportunities. She originally said she was providing welcome information and then got upset when we told her that we weren't interested. We had to be very aggressive in order to get away.
Because of the swimming issue we might consider a different hotel next time but aside from that, we were very happy at dreams.

My family and I just returned from Dreams last week. We had a great time, but I don't know if I would return to this particular hotel. We certainly had mixed experiences.

Upon check-in, we were assigned a room but when we went to the room, it was not what we had paid for. We had purchased a suite that included a separate bedroom. When I went back to the desk, they spent awhile trying to research this and finally agreed that I had paid for a larger room and finally assigned us a new one. As they were moving our bags from one room to the other, our digital camera was stolen (and of course, never found).

The new suite room was very nice with double beds in a separate bedroom from the kitchen/living area and it included two bath rooms which was great. Unfortunately, even though we were on the 4th floor, the palm trees were quite tall so we didn't have any view of the pool or the ocean (only the trees).

When we were first arriving at the hotel, we were met right after checkin by someone we thought was a concierge, but later found out that she was an onsite time-share salesperson who was recruiting us to come to a breakfast in the morning. She offered pretty good discounts on local activities like fishing so we decided to attend. The breakfast was good and the salesman was very professional. When he didn't close the deal with us, his boss came in to try to push us which was quite irritating. We did get the discounts we were promised and felt that the salespitch was worth it overall, although we were hit up everywhere we went with time-share "deals". It was amazing and quite annoying after awhile!

Although many of the hotel employees were very accomodating and pleasant, we did have to deal with a very unpleasant person at the front desk. We were told that since we had an all-inclusive package, we could request box lunches for our fishing trip for no additional charge so we did this. When we picked them up, we were told that they were $22 each! We spent a couple of hours later that day and then another couple of hours at checkout trying to get these charges removed from our bill. It eventually worked, only by telling them that if they did not remove them, I would instruct my credit card company not to pay them anyway.

I hate to imply that our whole trip was unpleasant ~ it wasn't! The food was very good (although no kids are welcome in the seafood restaurant and the Italian restraurant required my husband to wear long pants (which he didn't bring) so we only ate at the other two restaurants. The pools were great and the beach was beautiful (the current is very strong so you can't swim).

Cabo San Lucus was a nice town although very expensive (especially for Mexico) and we didn't catch anything on our 8-hour fishing trip. This seemed to be the norm when we were there. We did have a great time riding horses on the beach in town and also riding ATVs through the mountains and the beach. Those were our favorite activities.

All in all, we had a good time at Dreams, but would probably return to the Gulf side to Cozumel for our next Mexican adventure.

I stayed at Dreams with my 16 year old daughter from July 8-July 13th. I really thought the grounds were beautiful and beautifully landscaped. Yes, the area separating a deserted stretch of beach on the left by the quiet pool could be built up but maybe a new resort is coming in. The room was absolutely gorgeous. The upkeep was quite good. The room was always kept immaculate but we did tip $2 per day and we always had plenty of towels. The staff was very friendly and we experienced very consistent, good quality service. The duck entree at the Portofino restaurant was very good. My daughter liked the lasagna. The Asian place was good too, and they did a great job with the presentation of the food. The beef at the Oceana seaside place was a little fattty, but the shrimp was excellent and I heard from other guests that the Mahi Mahi was excellent. The drinks were top shelf and yes, they were strong. Even though we couldn't swim in the ocean, the taxi to Santa Maria beach where the snorkeling was awesome was only $14, and I don't recommend the bus because the walk down to the beach would be very long in the heat of the day. I recommend a tour to Todos Santos to see the famed Hotel California, and for some great art galleries. Madano Beach by the Office is swimmable and very nice. I would definitely return. It's not quite 5 star, but perhaps almost a 4. The price we got was excellent, and I think everyone I talked to there loved it.

Just returned from 5 nights at Dreams. It really is a very nice resort and one we'd gladly revisit. It is not quite a 5 star hotel, but then again you aren't paying for one. Overall the place is a bargain (in terms of all-inclusive opportunities). Commenting on the key areas others have spoken about:

Food/food service: We thought the food was excellent and the service very friendly and attentive. The choice of restaurants was nice and we liked all of them. Room service selections are somewhat limited. On the one occasion we ordered lunch, we were pleasantly surprised that it arrived in less than 30 minutes. The mini-bar, restocked daily, with its sodas, water and juice, is a nice touch.

Drinks: We think the policy of the hotel must be that drunk guests are happy guests! We found the drinks to be very strong. They are pouring premium liquors to boot. At the Oceana (seafood) restaurant they automatically bring you a special martini without you even ordering it.

Room: We booked a jr. suite, but upon arrival, without even asking, we were upgraded to a honeymoon suite on the 4th floor. No wait whatsoever. The 2 room suite was very nicely appointed. The room was very clean. Maid service, as reported by others, was inconsistent. Some nights we got turn down service, others we did not. Some days we didn't get handtowels or washclothes, but at least we always had large bath towels. There were always maids about however and you could usually obtain whatever you needed.

Pools: Never made it to the smaller adults-only pool. The main pool was beautiful with the water temperature perfect. The hotel really should end the practice of allowing guests to "reserve" chaises. It amazed us that people actually even took the pool floats for themselves knowing they were there for the enjoyment of all. The hotel should end that practice as well. I will say that we never actually saw one of those float holders say "no" to a request from someone to use it (provided it was returned!).

Grounds: The grounds are very pretty. The landscaping could be a little nicer on the periphery of the property (particularly near the smaller pool). The place was very clean over all. On one or two occasions we thought they could have done a better job cleaning up stuff in the pool/beach area left behind by late night revelers.

Tipping: While we wholeheartedly support being generous with the hard working staff, part of the appeal to us of an all-inclusive resort is that you don't need to think about, or carry, money so we didn't particularly like that tipping does occur here on a regular basis. That said, we didn't think the service we received was in any way affected by whether on a particular occasion we were tipping or not. We much prefer the approach taken at some other all-inclusives which discourages tipping during your stay but encourages "contributions" at the end of your stay to an employee welfare fund of some sort. I hope the hotel will consider going that route.

Ocean: You can't swim here, but there is a beautiful expanse of beach for strolling. It was pretty deserted at all hours. The sand isn't particularly soft, so water socks or sneakers are advised. The waves at times were very impressive and a lot of fun to watch.

Entertainment/Nightlife: The activities staff around the pool during the day were virtually non-existent. There were planned activities, but rarely was there anyone trying to organize them. The nightlife is pretty lacking. The movies on the beach were cool though. But there is plenty of partying to be found if you are ready to go into town. For us though none of this was a drawback since we went to Dreams wanting to do absolutely nothing. The resort is excellent for that!

If you are looking for a relaxing vacation in a beautiful setting, you certainly won't be disappointed staying here. We're certainly glad we did.

Check in - fast and very pleasant
Room - excellent #303, it had everything ocean view, large balcony, room service, DVD player, iron and board, hairdryer, lighted mirror, full bathroom compliments including sun tan lotion, fridge, fully stocked daily, microwave, safe ( no cost ). Room cleaned very well daily.
Restaurants - all al e carte, no reservations needed and never had to line up to be seated, food very good, service alittle slow but you enjoyed the view of the ocean and waves crashing so you did not mind. Two theme dining areas required men to wear long pants, when hot was a pain for my hubby.
Ocean - you cannot swim in the ocean but we went on long beach walks which was beautiful.
Pools - great, relaxed and enjoyed their outstanding bar service, you did not need to move if you did not want the waitress was always around serving drinks and food. Towel service open at 7am and always had towels, no problem getting pool loungers and they were padded.
Out door movies - just like a drive in except you walked in and sat down outside on pool loungers to watch the up to date movies.
Shuttle service to Cabo - free both ways and operated daily numerous times.
Resort - very well kept, clean and tidy
Overall rating - we would return to this place in a heart beat, Cabo is very nice especially around the marina.
The only down side and it wasn't major, the theme nights could be slightly improved.
Please feel free to email me if you have any qyestions about the resort
