My friend and I take a girls' trip every Martin Luther King, Jr. Weekend. This year we chose Dreams...and I am extremely happy that we did. I will start by giving you the only downfall to the whole place...restaurant choices for dinner. The hotel only opens a select few of its restaurants each night, so you are limited in choices. I have no complaints about the food. I can only complain that my dinner choice was pretty much made for me each night. It might have helped if we had been preventative and made reservations, but two girls on vacation are only worried about the margaritas they can drink by the pool all day.

That being said...OUR VACATION WAS WONDERFUL!! The rooms are adorable--tiled floors, spacious bathroom, comfortable beds, and a nice sitting area inside and outside on the balcony. All rooms in this hotel look out over the pool and the ocean. You can't go wrong.

Each morning, we watched the sunrise and then went and enjoyed their tasteful breakfast buffet. Lots to choose from--fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juices, eggs, potatoes, bacon, sausage, french toast, pancakes, and some locally, mexican-flavored items.

The pool is fabulous! We never had a problem getting a chair and our server kept the margaritas coming!! Request yours made with Don Julio--YUMMY! The pool side cafe has the best lunch. Get the fajitas! We had a fabulous lunch there everyday. They will even serve it to you poolside. Between this and the breakfast buffet in the morning, the lack of dinner dining space didn't really bother me. I knew I would get two fabulous meals the next day.

Overall, we had a fabulous, although short, stay at Dreams Los Cabos. For an all-inclusive resort, it is just right. I think everyone always needs to remember--YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! And if you are looking for a pretty inexpensive getaway, this is it!

After reading some of the very negative reviews, we were a bit concerned about our trip to Dreams (March 13-18). But we found everything to be amazing and we hope to go back next year! It was heavenly...

The hotel, grounds, and rooms were gorgeous. Check-in was very easy (greeted with champagne), and while we were approached about the timeshare - we found it to be a very soft sell. We simply said not interested and it was no big deal.

The room was great - overlooking the ocean and the quieter pool. Maid service came twice a day - and we often saw them from the pool cleaning windows, scrubbing floors, etc! The fridge was restocked everyday - and the front desk had complimentary DVD's for viewing (granted the selection was small at times, but we found something to watch a couple nights).

We found both pools to be warm enough for swimming and preferred the quieter pool (quite warm). We loved the cushioned chairs and spent a lot of time floating in the pool on the complimentary rafts. The drinks were fabulous - and we were surprised to see all the top shelf liquors available. While we didn't do much other than relax, they had tennis, badminton, putting green, ping-pong, bocci, and volleyball available too.

We were relatively pleased with the food - we ate at sit-down dinner every night and, like others noted, loved the pan-asian restaurant. Breakfast was also great (loved the chilaquiles). Granted, service was a bit slow at all restaurants (especially during lunch) - but we were in no hurry. We never had to wait for a table, but the waitstaff was slow to bring menus, drinks, food, etc.

We tipped throughout the trip - nothing big, but just to show our appreciation. No one was ever looking for a hand-out, though, which was very nice. We booked a few excursions through the group in the lobby - we recommend the luxury catamaran Sunset Cruise (although they were much less tactful in looking for tips!). We also ate at Mi Casa in downtown Cabo which was excellent as well.

I would recommend definitely recommend Dreams to my friends and family.

My boyfriend and I are mid-20s and live in downtown Chicago. We are used to being around people of all different backgrounds, eating different kinds of food, and waiting in line at crowded bars. I write this because it may give some insight to my review. I should also qualify by saying that I have found in the past that if you approach your vacation with a good attitude, it will turn out good! I don't know if it was my good attitude, or good luck, that made my vacation at Dreams enjoyable... but it was a great vacation. Check-in was a breeze. We didn't ask for a king bed, but got one anyway. The rooms are amazing, and our suite was bigger than my boyfriend's apartment in Chicago! Everything worked in our room, it was regularly cleaned and restocked, and we found it very serene to be the last room at the end of the hotel by the quiet pool. The quiet pool was definitely our scene - heated, no loud music or organized activities, not a lot of hub bub, and waiters who came by regularly. Amazing guacamole and frozen lemonade.

The crowd was definitely older than us, and not urban. This didn't bother us, it was just a different group of people that we're used to being around.

The food was better than I'd expect at an all-inclusive resort. At all-inclusives, I never expect gourmet food... just good food that fills you up. The breakfast buffet was fabulous and we loved the authentic chilequiles. We looked forward to going each morning. Dinner varied - as another poster noted, it was pretty much all buffets, all the time. They were decent-to-good buffets. We could tell that the buffet situation was because the resort was understaffed and overoccupied. The exception to this was the one sit-down meal we had at the pan-asian restaurant... we were both blown away and considered it to be just as good as any of the trendy pan-asian places in downtown Chicago. We wished this restaurant had been open more often for dinner, but it wasn't.

Service was spotty. It is a young, overworked staff. They definitely need more people. Speaking Spanish - even just trying - will make a huge difference. So will a smile, and a calm, understanding look. We saw people making a big scene one night about what they perceived to be a problem, and it definitely didn't seem to be making things any easier for them. Tipping also helps - we went through nearly 200 one dollar bills in a week. The best service came from the porters and pool waiters... the front desk staff was OK, but didn't go out of its way to help when you had a question.

As for venturing out of the resort - the public bus was just as easy as anything in Chicago... the bus was nicer and more clean, in fact! Taxis are also easy and pricing - negotiated in advance - is similar to that in any big city. We had one amazing dinner at Palmilla, a resort down the road that Conde Nast consistently rates the best in all of Mexico. If you're looking for gourmet food in a casual setting and aren't afraid to pay for it, definitely try Agua at Palmilla. Alternately, C at Palmilla (run by renowned chef Charlie Trotter), the Restaurant at Las Ventanas, and the restaurant at Casa Natalia in San Jose del Cabo have all been referred to us as world-class restaurants... unfortunately, we didn't have the time to try them all! Cabo San Lucas had a neat marina, but was very touristy and definitely not the vacation experience we were looking for.

I definitely give Dreams a better than average review. It met most of my expectations and I didn't want to leave! If you are an easy-going vacationer and don't have expectations of Ritz Carlton-level service, you'll have a delightful stay.

My husband and I went with 8 friends ranging from ages 30-40. Reading the other reviews I sometimes wonder what people expect or if we were at the same resort!!

We arrived March 6 - 13, we had fabulous weather, the service was great, (note that we tipped well as a large group) we found the restaurants to be great, on some nights it was buffets and on other nights we has a-la-carte. They are under staffed but with us being on vacation we were in no big hurry. The restaurant that we loved the most was the Asian restaurant.

There are two pools, the main pool (we never went in) and the "lava" pool that was so very warm but yet refreshing! Maid service was good, they restocked our fridge every second day and did a great job with cleaning our room. The resort is gorgeous and very clean!

I found a lot of people complaining about the dumbest things and very demanding and ignorant, you are on holidays and you are in Mexico, have some respect!! Your holiday is what you make of it, relax, be patient and have fun!

I normally would not take the time to write a review, but felt compelled after my nightmarish stay at Dreams. Prior to booking this alleged 6 Apple property, a request was made for a King bed. I was told this request was not guarenteed unless available at check-in. Upon check-in, we were told we were in luck and a King bed was in our room. Once inside the room, I got my first surprise of many yet to come. Two beds, how romantic! I returned to the front desk and was told a mistake had been made and no King bed was available. I was told to check back in few days, which I did, only to get the same unfortunate response. I had to contact housekeeping on a daily basis for soap, shampoo, coffee and to re-stock the mini bar. All after leaving a tip too! Dreams advertises a la carte dining. Well guess what? You got it. Buffets only! I inquired as to the reason and was told they were too crowded and did not have enough staff to serve individual meals. The food was always cold, in part to not having sterno under all the serving dishes, and all to similar day after day. The pool was cold, due to the heater being broken. The lobby bar often closed prior to it's scheduled closing time, even when people were still seeking service. The putting green they advertise is actually indoor/outdoor carpeting. At check-out, I was told I owed for 2 phone calls made from our room. As it turned out, they were made by housekeeping! Should I have been surprised?
