My wife and I spent 5 days( 2/25-3/3) at Dreams Cabo San Lucas. The property is very clean and beautiful. The regular room we had was great and the beds comfortable, with a great view from the patio. We were directly over the fire pit just off the main lobby so it was a little noisy until around midnight but not bad. We had a micro and stocked fridge with soda and beer. Maid service was great and the dollars we left on the pillows each morning seemed to motivate the maids. The food was very good and we highly recomend the Shrimp cocktail and Fish tacos! The problem with food is that there are not enough people working in the restaurants and service can be from very slow to down right crazy slow. Also it gets very cool at night and most food is served outdoors and the food can cool off very fast. Bring a sweater and light jacket or sweatshirts for the evening. The pool is beautiful and empty because the water was about 60F. That was a real downer because the pool is big and there is a swim up bar but only a couple of people were brave enough to enter the water. The beach is big and clean but the surf was rough and they did not recomend swimming. Beer and liquor is top shelf for example 12yr old johny walker, bomay gin, etc. A trip to town on the hotels free shuttle is the way to go but it only runs until 10pm and only every couple of hours. But the city bus for $1 is great and drops you off right in front of the hotel. We did a whale watching trip and it was worth the $40 per person. The hotel entertainment was not really good and it gets quiet at night. Overall it is a nice place and is trying to do well but they need more staff and a entertainment director to get the place going. Having a pool that no one can use is not helping the situation. Its rated an apple 6 but it is not there yet.

My family and i just got back from a seven day stay at dreams (feb 20-27). We had a great time.

Their gym was crap. they need to invest in more cardio equipment.

we found most nights that if you didn't eat by 6:00, you'd eat at 9:00ish, and some nights we were okay with that. since they don't take reservations, its pretty hit or miss. especially at oceana. we ate there at the last nite, and we were expecting to be there for 2 hours and ended up there for 30 minutes because our food litterally came out 5 minutes after we ordered. el patio was available most nights, and the food was pretty decent. entertainment varied, and it was okay. the pan asian food was okay. wanton soup was like drinking from the ocean it self, and the sushi was warm, but everything else was good. Breakfasts were the best, and lunch was good, with the exception that the seletion of good on the lunch menu wasn't very large.

When we first checked in, one of the rooms wasn't ready, so they upgraded it to a full suite. The rooms were amazing. amazing views. The grounds are breathtaking. Although the ocean is not safe for swimming, i would still go put your feet in. The vendors on the beach were a little annoying but after a while they kind of got the point. I would suggest getting up early and getting your pool towels and reserving chairs, because by 8am, everything was taken.

We did the whalewatching on the last day there, and we saw a great number of them, and it was a fanastic time.

The nights tended to get a little boring. If you didn't go into the town of Cabo San Lucas, there wasn't much to do. The hotel has an open pit fire, and thats where I ended up most of the nights. If you make friends with the other guest, it promises to be a good time.

My wife and I just back from a 4 night trip Feb 16 - Feb 20. Long and short of it is a 4 star facility with 2-3 star service. Very nice rooms. Great views. Nice beach for walking on/taking photos. Very nice staff. Excellent spa. Average food. Drinks and food are VERY expensive if you don't go AI - so consider that if you drink much (avg drink was $12/$6 for beer I believe). If you get room service, order it one slot earlier than you need it - we missed ours before an early whale watching trip (Baja Explorer did a great tour - saw a TON of whales and sealions). If you like it quiet, ask to stay overlooking the smaller pool.

Overall, the wait can take forever for food and drink and none of the food was "impressive" (although the breakfast was good). But, the rooms are nice as are the facilities and if you can tolerate the service slips (again, we had no rude service, but they are waaaaaay understaffed) and you get a good deal, you could do worse. We had fun, but would probably try the RIU Palace next time.

Oh - tip a couple of bucks at your meals and when you get a round of drinks and the service goes way up.

We stayed at the resort February 15 - 22, 2005. The resort itself is gorgeous. Spectacular grounds and rooms, with some attention to detail (lite torches throughout the grounds at night, robes in the rooms, complimentary shower gel, suntan lotion, etc. in the rooms.)

The food is very good, although I did get Montazuma's revenge while at the resort (we only ate at the resort) and spent several days very sick with diarrehea and vomiting.

The service is shockingly poor. The restaurant staff is some of the most inept and slow staff I have ever encountered. It would not be uncommon to wait 1.5 - 2.0 hours for a table at a restaurant, 30 minutes for someone to take your order (just a drink order!) and another hour to get your dinner. Unless you like to eat right at 6:00 prepare to spend the better part of your evening at the restaurant. Most of the time guests were waiting several hours for a table and there were empty tables in the restaurant. We were told on one occassion by a restaurant manager, despite the fact that there were empty tables, that we should find another restaurant because they were too busy! You could literally spend an hour going from restaurant to restaurant, being turned away, and signing up for waiting lists that take 1 - 2 hours.

However, despite the service and my illness, the food was often better than most all inclusives.

Do not take a room over the lobby, unless you want to spend your night listening to music and the crowd at the fire pit. We asked to be moved no less than 8 times, and were promised that we would be moved. Finally, after escalating our request to the General Manager, we received a change of rooms. When we arrived at our new room, the room had not been cleaned and the toilet was overflowing. Thank goodness for the bell boys (the reception staff is useless -- they are in desperate need of some training). One bell boy got the GM for us and we were immediately sent to an upgraded room.

Beach is beautiful, but you cannot swim in the ocean as the tide is too rough. If you like a beach holiday, this is not the place for you.

Also, resort is very secluded. It is a good 20 minute walk (on the beach or the highway) to the next resort, and a 15-20 minute drive to the nearest town. We had cabin fever by day three!

Our room was spectacular, but the housekeeping service was poor. They often took dirty items (glass, towels, robes) and didn't replace them! We would find ourselves calling Housekeeping several times to request the unreplaced items during our stay, and waiting up to an hour to get towels, etc.

This resort has a lot of potential, but the quality of the service is exceptionally poor, and the management/supervisors seems to be somewhat indifferent to the guests problems. I would not reccommend it. Pre-dinner drinks in the lobby bar (waiting 1-2 hours for dinner) was often spent sharing resort problems with other guests. We were certainly not alone.

Dreams is a real nightmare!

My Fiance and I stayed there in October. We had just got back 2 months before from Puerto Vallarta where we had a great time so we didn't think going to Baja could compare since we live in Southern California and it is not that far away. We couldn't have been more wrong the people who worked there were great and very helpful. We knew about the timeshare crap since we just came from Puerta Vallarta and had sat theough one there. We went to one and got a bunch of free trips which was cool and said no to all of the other sales people, so we spent 2 or 3 hours looking at another hotel and it paid for the next 2 days worth of trips. If you know what to expect and plan on saying no a lot its not that bad.
When we were on the timeshare sales trip we overheard another couple saying that Sammy Hagar was putting on a little show at Caba Wabo for his Birthday and it was hard to get tickets. We kind of forgot about it for the day, and the next day we were having some drinks at the bar near the pool (Danny the bartender is hilarious) and Michael Anthony of Van Halen walks up with his family and sits down, we started talking to him for a while, where he gave me some crap because i didnt want to get up a 5:00 am on my vacation to get in line to buy tickets for their show. My fiance talked me into it and saw Sammy, Michael and the rest of the band that Sammy was with at the time play in a club with only 500 people. I became an instant VH fan and saw them in LA 6 months later. We look forward to going back every year.
