Stayed at Dreams Los Cabos last week. The facility is beautiful. Everthing is well manicured and clean. Check-in was fast and we were told we would be staying in a one bedroom suite. The staff explained they had a shuttle that took people into town, but you had to reserve a seat. We had a rental car, so we never used this feature. We were also offered an all-inclusive package for 52.00 dollars per person. We declined this because we wanted to venture out and eat in any restaurant we were nearby while exploring.
Loved the pool and the blue floats provided by the hotel. The beach hammocks were comfortable and always available. Plus, they had an adequate gym to work out in. They played soft jazz at the pool and it was total relaxation. I didn't see more than 20 people at the pool at a time. September is hurricane season, so the resort was only 25% booked.
Our one bedroom suite was spacious and spotless. We had a full kitchen with all the amenities like dining table, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. The bedroom was huge with a comfortable bed, TV, walk in closet, and balcony. The bathroom had dual sinks, ample counter space, and a separate room with shower and toilet. The front room had a pull out couch, another TV, and another balcony. Maid service was spotty. Twice we returned to our room after 5pm and our room had not been cleaned. The first time I called and complained, the second time, I just waited and at 5:25 the maid knocked. I declined the cleaning, but took some clean towels. She had done an excellent job the day before, so it was still very clean.
My husband and I ventured out almost everyday. We went in to San Jose del Cabo to shop, La Playita to check out the new marina, and the fish count at Gordo Banks, Acapulquito(Costa Azul) so my husband could surf a few times, and Chileno to snorkle and mingle with the locals. (My husband rented a kayak and caught a bonita too. :) Plus, we drove into Cabo San Lucas and ate at The Office, Las Quesadillas, The Crazy Lobster, Panchos, The Trailer Park, and La Golondrina. We were getting a little stir crazy at the deserted hotel and had to venture out for some action every night. Only about a 15 minute drive to Cabo.
The only problems I need to address are that 1. our room had no oceanview at all. They state that all rooms have oceanview, but our view was blocked by numerous palm trees. We had to go out of our room and walk to the pool area to see the ocean. 2. No ice machines ever had ice. we had to ask the restaurants for ice. 3. Since we did not do all-inclusive but wanted to order room service, I requested a room service menu. The prices are outrageous!!! For example, 5.00 dollars for 1 beer. In Cabo we usually paid 3.00 dollars for 2 for 1 happy hour beers. Water was 6.00 per bottle. Continental breakfast was 17.00. Pot of coffee 9.00, Hamburger 14.00, club sandwich 13.00, diet coke 5.00, margarita 9.00 and so on. When I am on vacation, I don't like to think about prices, but come on!!! If I paid those prices , I would feel like the employees were laughing at me behind my back, like I was a big sucker with no brain and so much money I could just throw it away. My husband and I had lobster dinners for 18.00 each in Cabo. We had 1.50 Coronas, free water bottles, garlic fish with all the trimmings for 15.00, we ate at a taco shop that had killer baja tacos, salad, salsa bar, plus 4 beers for 18.00 total!!
I guess they do this to make you see how much of a deal all-inclusive is. So it is good to do all-inclusive if you plan on just staying at the resort the entire time. But buy some eggs, bread, ham, tuna, chips etc.. at the store and venture out to all the outlying areas. If you only stay at the resort you are really missing out.
