My wife and I stayed at Dreams from Sept. 14th-21st and overall were pleased with the stay.
We opted for the Honeymoon suite and after peeking in several rooms while walking down corridors, we were very glad we did. The other rooms seemed rather small compared to our two rooms and balconies. Not that we needed the space, but it was nice not feeling cramped...Although it was described as an ocean view, we couldn't really see the ocean without straining our necks...
Our room was situated on the "quiet" side with an "ocean view". There are two pools at Dreams. One (the main pool) is really nice with a great view of the ocean; however, it was crowded and every once and awhile they would play loud music and the staff would dance or something...It was also the spot for several volleyball games. It almost had the atmosphere of a spring break party. Great if you're into that...
The other pool, which is what our room looked out over, was the "quiet" pool. Here, the only music that played was relaxing music and there weren't alot of people, although you couldn't see the ocean from the pool.
After the first day, we figured out that the best spot was in the cabanas on the beach. They have about 20 or so cabanas, some with hammocks that look out over the ocean. We literally got our favorite one early in the morning and didn't leave until five or so...The only caveat is that there are people trying to sell you things from the beach pretty much all day.
Foodwise, we really liked El Patio for breakfast. The buffets were great and we weren't disappointed by the food there at all. Other places were ok, considering the fact that they have to feed alot of folks...We especially liked the sushi place and the italian place...
One thing I would recommend is the honeymoon package. The dinner on the beach sounds cheesy, but it was hands-down the best meal the whole week. Also, the maid service that night was fantastic (roses and swans come into the picture).
Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but probably would look for more intimate places if we decide to go to the area again...
