Having been to Dreams in Pto Vallarta several times before, my sights were set high for this trip. The location itself was disappointing - unsafe to swim in the ocean from the beach (any hotel), dusty from the desert wind, and no feel of Mexican culture.That said, the hotel was even more disappointing.
Our Preferred Club Jr. Suite was not on the top floor as stated and the "breathtaking ocean view" was blocked by the side of the adjoining room and a large palm. We did however have a view of the pool, restaurant roof and rooms across the pool.
The grounds were nicely kept, food above average for an all inclusive, but nothing compared to PV Dreams. Cabo needs a new pastry chef - everything tasted the same whether it was focaccia in the Italian restaurant or breakfast pastry. The alcohol selection was good, but everything was served in a child's plastic cup. Restaurant and bar staff was friendly, but not particularly professional.
The most irritating thing was the noise. At 6:30 am the carts to service the restaurants and bars starting rolling under our windows. By 7:00 there were leaf blowers and hedge clippers. The carts continued all day as they set up beach events and more food services for lunch and dinner. After dinner there were more carts with trash and unused food and by 10:30 more carts hit the pavement to remove the tables, chairs, lights and decorations from guest events and entertainment. Some of the noise is due to the horseshoe design of the buildings, but plastic carts and/or different wheels could make a huge difference. My hope of drifting off to sleep and waking to the sight and sounds of the surf sadly never happened.
