To begin, I have alot of Mexico/Caribbean all inclusive experience. I have worked in the travel Industry in many capacities for 20+ years. This is what you need to know about Dreams Los Cabos..... This property has the best staff I have ever encountered without question. We were a group of 27, ranging in age from 4 to 68. The staff are so honest and concientous:
Some examples:
Day 2- We are dining at El Patio with our group. The waiter summons a member of our group. They have not closed the room safe properly before they left for dinner, the maid came to do the "turn down service" , and discovered the safe open with money, jewelry, ipods etc and immediately called security for an
inventory check.
The kids/husbands often left things behind in public areas, i.e flip flops, deck shoes, pool toys, shirts, books , etc.
All items were returned, paper work completed, and bagged securely until such time they could be retrieved by the owner. With 12 kids under 12 in our group there were a few injuries, bloody noses, cuts, sharing gripes etc. The staff was there with first aid, gentle words, humour, patience, ice cream cones and made it clear that kids are enjoyed and valued.
The resort is small , trips back to the room to retrieve items do not involve a big hike. The rooms are amazing, we had a 1 bedroom suite that was so roomy and comfortable that I feel I need another week to really appreciate it. The restaurants are great. Good selection/all inclusive cuisine without the stressful feeding frenzy vibe we've experience at the other resorts. The layout of the buffets were well designed, no congestion. The food varied and good quality/no Illness in our group of 27. No reservations needed at the speciality restaurants. Italian is so-so, but not awful as previously reported , Japanese is all asian cuisine with excellent sushi, including a sushi bar and sake. You can get curries, and thai food there as well. The Oceana is awesome.. lunch and dinner there is perfect for romantic couples time. The only real negatives about the food is the cheese on the nachos (horrific) and they do not always cook the burger meat thoroughly. I will be contacting the resort on these issues.
The entertainment is decent. The Las Vegas show a little too
risque for some members of our group, the Wii tournament and Mexican Night were loved by all. The Kids Club activities and staff
were amazing. The beach is beautiful but not swimmable. Kids beach Bungy.. great. Spa/gym facilities..top notch .
For those with really young children the main pool is 5ft deep so please bring life jackets as there is no little kid pool.
You will see alot of whales and dolphins,,,bring warm clothes for early mornings and evenings. The resort needs to get green with the water issue, lots of plastic water bottles. Alcoholic drinks are watered down, but tasty and varied. (-Changita- perfect first drink of the day- contains pureed mango/banana/rum) The red and white wines are of decent quality and the champagne is french. Exceptional staff are Pedro/ Elsa (pool service). Argens (swim up bar) Bertha (maid) Kids club (Jennie)
Enjoy your visit to Dreams. We certainly did.

When looking for reviews of the quality of food and drinks, I didn't see much, well here is what I found out at my recent stay. Breakfast is buffet with omlette and waffle station which was very good. Also good selection of mexican dishes that change daily, fruit is very good in Mexico, do not skip the fruit. We usually just had a small snack for lunch poolside. dinner - Japanese restaurant was great for sushi, also ate at Oceana, the seafood place. great appetizers, order more than one! The clam chowder was excellent.

Now for the drinks, It is a premium bar, but you need to call for the brands if that is what you want. Othewise the will use the cheap stuff. They are very accomodating. Some places in Mexico will refill the bottles of premium brands with well brands, but Dreams does not.

I would definitley stay here again. Seems to be a great place for families or couples. Fairly close to the airport is a nice feature also.

My wife and I and another couple spent four day and three nights at the dreams resort in Los Cabos.
This was our fifth trip to Cabo in the last 6 years and first to the dreams resort.
Before this we stayed at the Westin, the Sheraton and Casa Del Mar. At first I was a little nervous about going to dreams with all the bad reviews that have been posted lately. I was also nervous b/c this was our friends first time to Cabo and here I was supposed to be an expert of the area. I was pleasantly surprised with how nice and comfortable our rooms were and I can honestly say that of the other hotels we stayed in these were probably the nicest.
While the resort itself is much smaller than the others I mentioned above, I actually enjoyed this. By the second day, you recognized everyone and the staff for the most part even remembered our names.
Everyday we sat on the beach under the palapas and relaxed, away from all the rigors of everyday life. Our waiter Marco was extremely friendly and always had a fresh drink waiting before the one I was drinking was finished. Granted we tipped him well ($10-15 a day), but it was well worth it. By the last day he had a drink waiting for us when we got downstairs.
My only really gripe with the hotel is the food. The Italian restaurant was just awful. The food was terrible and the service horrendous. My fish was so over cooked; I ate one bite and wanted to send it back, except by that time the kitchen was already closing. My wife and our friend both ordered the tortellini with cheese and spinach inside when we finally got the food (20 minutes later) they brought them some disgusting ravioli, without informing us that they no longer had tortellini. I don’t even know why they called in ravioli, when there was nothing between the 2 noodles. You can buy much better ravioli from the frozen section in your supermarket.
My other complaint with the food was the fish tacos for lunch at the restaurant by the quiet pool, they too were disgusting. I happen to consider myself something of a fish taco connesuir and out of the hundreds if not thousands of fish taco I have eaten in my life these were up there with the worst.
Other than that I would say the food was fine. The breakfast buffet was very good and so was our meal at the Japanese place. We also had a good meal at the seaside grill the first night we were there. After the taco fiasco the first day, I resigned to eating quesadillas and pizza from my lounge chair by the ocean.

The rest of the staff was very good and I enjoyed the fact that they employed an activities staff

So all in all if the price is right, I would go back to this hotel again. We definitely got our moneys worth in drinks.

One last thing I want to comment on is that I swam every day in the ocean. While the surf is strong, if you are a good swimmer, you should have no problem.

My wife and I stayed at the resort for our honeymoon last summer and absolutely loved it. The property was clean, fun, lively, and beautiful. We have discussed visiting again. The food was good for the most part and we only disliked one of the places we ate (Japanese place). The staff was very kind and treated us like royalty. We only ventured outside of the resort for one evening mainly because we loved the place so much. I would recommend this resort for anyone wishing to have a lovely time.

My wife and I just returned from a week at Dreams. We were there Jan. 21-28, 2008.

We really liked the resort, but didn't love it. We didn't have any of the problems that other reviewers had and thought the property itself is really nice. Our room was a jr. studio with a small kitchenette, spacious balcony, oceanfront.

While we were extremely satisfied with the property itself, the service left a little to be desired in our opinion. We were there on a timeshare rental week that we booked through www.redweek.com . I highly recommend this site, as the entire week cost us $450. Yes, you read that right. $ 60 bucks per night for what is basically a 4 star resort.

So since we were there as timeshare, we were not part of the all-inclusive deal. That was fine with us, we could have bought in for $85 per person, per day, but that seemed really steep and we declined.

But not being on the all-inclusive plan, the staff didn't quite know what to do with us. We had to sign for our drinks and food, like at a regular hotel, and this seemed to throw them off a little bit.

Besides that, the staff didn't seem to go the extra mile. Last year we stayed at the Hilton up the street from Dreams and the service was impeccable. We couldn't raise our lounge chair without someone helping us.

So, having said that, if you can get a week at Dreams through a timeshare re-sale, I would highly recommend it. It was definitely worth the price we paid. However, if you are splurging, and are trying to go top shelf, I would stay somewhere else.
