After researching numerous honeymoon vacations, My wife and I decided to Try out Dreams Los Cabos based on their reviews and amenities. Between us, we have travelled all over the world and have stayed in 2 star all the way up to 5 star hotels.
We booked our vacation using Orbitz. Basically chose the best flights (aka shortest) and the longest duration at the resort in the timeframe we selected (6 days).
We chose the Los Cabos area due to the uncertainty of weather in the Gulf of Mexico/Carribean, during the fall/early winter months. The weather was beautiful. 90/day 70/night. Clear skies not a trace of rain.
We ended up hiring a private car through TransCabo. We were picked up at the airport by a brand new Suburban with our requested chilled champagne. The trip from airport to hotel was about 15-20 minutes by tollway. The driver Cesar, was very nice and was able to tell us about the history and demographic of the Los Cabos area. Upon arrival at the hotel, we were greeted with cold towels from the bellman and our bags were quickly checked in to the bell desk. We had some left over champagne and our bellman Victor, brought us glasses so we could finish our drinks while waiting to check in.
Check in was a breeze. It took less than 10 minutes to get our keys and our bags were at our room in about 5 minutes after check in. We had a Jr Suite room 522. It was located right off the elevator and had the best central view of the resort. From our balcony you could see the infinity pool and ocean behind it. The room was very well appointed. We were in one of the newly remodeled rooms. There is a refridgerator in the tv armoire which is stocked with various sodas, juices and beers. Cable TV, Digital Safe, English/Spanish hotel amenities book, Ceiling fan, good airconditioning, etc. The bathrooms are stocked with gilchrest and soames products and there are lots of towels.
The Pools at the resort are great. The main pool had many activities throughout the day and was more crowded than the other pool, which was more quiet and less crowded. The service from the swim up bars was excellent as was the service from the pool side waiters. If you are looking for lots fun and activities go hang out at the main pool. If you are looking to relax and not be bothered by younger people stick to the quiet pool.
The restaraunts were pretty good for being an all inclusive resort.
We ate at the Oceana restaraunt twice, Seaside Grill twice, Portofino once and the breakfast buffet at El Patio twice. The Asian restaraunt was closed for remodeling during our stay. Our favorite restaraunt was Seaside Grill. They had an excellent Filet, but be aware that the meats are a bit over cooked so order a step below what you usually order. We usually eat our steaks medium and we learned to order them medium rare. Portofino was nice but stick to the pasta dishes. The grilled pork chops were kind of bland and overcooked, but my wifes Chicken Parmesan was excellent. The salads are pretty much lettuce and dressing. The soups are hit and miss and the desserts are so-so. The service at all of the restaraunts and bars is excellent. Room service is 24hrs and the food usually gets to you in about 20 minutes. The staff is very friendly and courteous and communication is fairly easy for non-spanish speaking guests.
The drinks are good throughout the resort. They have a daily drink special that is more on the fruity side. The liqours are decent and the beers are corona and modelo. The bar staff is very good and you will never go thirsty. If you go make sure to visit Alejandro at BarRacuda near the beach.
The nightly activites were pretty fun. We experienced the Casino night, Mexican Night, Monday Night Football, Live Music and Karaoke. The entertainment staff is fun and energetic. Miguel was one of the funniest. They also offer a pub crawl where they take you to town to experience Cabo nightlife.
The maid service comes in around 3-4 pm and there is a nightly turndown service around 7-8pm.
Overall, The Dreams All inclusive experience was very good and we could not have asked for a better honeymoon experience. The staff and amenities are very good and the food choices were pretty good. I would rate dreams a solid 4 out of 5 stars. If you are looking for a good all inclusive, definitely check out Dreams.
