We stayed at Dreams Los Cabos for 8 days for a family vacation and my wedding. There were 10 of us total, and everyone just raved. The resort is gorgeous, the views are to die for, VERY friendly people, and good food. The food caters to the American tastes although Himitsu offers great Asian from sushi to curry and Portifino is great Italian - try the spinach soup! OH and head to Portifino's again for breakfast, especially if you have children (they have a children's size buffet, too cute!) my 6 year old sister loved it. If you're at the main pool be sure to get Pedro as your waiter, he is AWESOME, if you can't find enough louge chairs together just let him know and he will take care of it! And at the Rendevous Bar the best is Pablo, very funny guy and very attentive. They make great Miami Vice's. The only cons of our trip - you can't swim in the ocean (which I knew ahead of time), housekeeping comes a little later than prefered (usually about 3:00-4:00 in the afternoon), and the construction going on at the resort right now shuts down a restaurant at a time (but it wasn't much of a problem) and PLEASE do not eat the mayonaise there, I got sick from it, they keep it in the direct sun 24/7. But even with that I can't complain. The spa is so relaxing, I totally recommend a massage. My wedding was gorgeous, I couldn't have asked for anything better and my husband agreed. Although we must be much more easy going than one of the previous reviewers. It was simple and charming. I don't know if it's possible but we had THE BEST room, 614, if you can request it or a room near it you won't regret it. Top floor, center of the resort, best view in the place. The whole family is already planning a return trip for our 2nd anniversary!

Just back from our trip and we were both very pleased yet very disappointed with this resort. Upon arrival, the bell staff is excellent. They provided us with cool wash cloths to wipe our faces with on a hot day as we stepped out of our van. Our bags were whisked away and check-in was a breeze. The front desk (Andres) and concierge (David) staff were absolutely outstanding. We were upgraded to a Governor's Suite which was wonderful. The grounds were impeccable and the ambiance delightful. Our housekeeper (Carmen) was extrememly pleasant and kept our suite spotless and homey---the nightly turndown service included chocolates and a red carnation along with the next day's calendar of events. The only problem we had with our room was the lack of water pressure and hot water prior to the dinner hour (too much demand on the system, I guess). Cold, trickling showers were the norm before dinner. Our only true gripe was with the food and beverage service. We noticed several times that the podiums at restaurant entrances were unmanned for seating. We sometimes had to wait and felt ignored by the staff there at the buffets. Once, at El Patio, the host was downright rude when I hunted him down to seat us. Still, the wait staff, once underway, was pretty good. Our best service and ambiance was with Carlos at the Portofino. The food, however, was very disappointing. Sad to say, but the best meals of our vacation (and they were surprisingly good) were in seats 5A and 5B coming down on Delta Air Lines. It's pretty sad when a resort can't even compete with airline food! Most meats at this resort were overcooked/dried out and the pasta at the Portofino tasted like plaster. Moreover, 3 out of the 6 in our party came down with food poisoning and had the trots for a very miserable 24hrs. Then there are the wines: The ones designated for the all-inclusive service are downright awful (I'd rate them even worse than the food). They do have a wine menu where you can pay to have what you want but at $400+ per night, I was surprised that they couldn't even provide a $3 bottle of Sutter Home or Stone Cellars (which would have been much more palatable by comparison to the swill that was offered). Moreover, I'm convinced that the bar beverages are watered down. When I asked the bartender to strengthen my drink, he obliged me by pouring in more rum/tequila right before me. Still, I drank 5 strawberry Margaritas in 40 minutes and could easily go out and drive a car (stone sober). Not that I was trying to become intoxicated, but I was curious as to whether or not I could even get a buzz after pounding down several of their drinks in rapid succession---it didn't happen. As such, and this is only my suspicion, I would suspect that they preblend water with their rum/tequila to make the appearance of adding more when they're really not. In summary, we've stayed at 2 other resorts in the Los Cabos area. This one had the best staff and grounds but definitely the worst food and beverage. Their rates are exorbitant considering what you get in return, and I don't mind paying more if it's worth it. In this case, it was not.

We just returned yesterday from spending 8 days in Cabo. Traveling from the east coast was uneventful, just a long day. We left the east coast around 7 a.m. and arrived Cabo around 2. Airport was typical of a Mexican airport. Timeshare vendors everywhere. Just keep walking. They'll keep asking what hotel you are staying acting like they can help you. Just keep going until you get outside. That's where your ride will be.

We arrived around 3 at Dreams and we were told that our king suite was not available but for $200 they could put us in a gold suite. Our friends got their king room and they checked in after us. Told them no way and they gave us a room with doubles for one night and a waterfront room with king the remainder of the trip. Tried to talk with a manager and sat and waited over 20 minutes and no one showed up. The new room was oceanfront but you could hear all noise from the pool area, movie area and bar til late into the night. Room had just been refurbished and they forgot to put in the room service table, a chair and a lamp. The maid service was good most times. Sometimes the room would be cleaned by 1 and sometimes by 5/6.

Food ok... Asian restaurant closed for remodeling but moved to the El Patio restaurant for one of the nights... Mexican restaurant was horrible. Wasn't a typical Mexican meal. The steak house, Seaside Grill food was good but service was real slow. The seafood restaurant Oceana was nice but our favorite was the Italian Portofino for both service and quality of food.

Lobby bar was the place to get your drinks, had more variety. If you are a wine drinker, bring your own. The white and red are from Chile and not all that great. Tried to get a bottle for my room and they wanted $41. Bought a bottle downtown.

Pools were nice and kept well. Couldn't swim in the sea as the undertow is horrible and red flags are up always. Sand is gravelly as well so you didn't sit on the beach long.

Spa - don't go. The swedish massage was painful for some, not great for others. Pedicure wasn't done all that well either.

Did the sunset/jazz cruise which was very nice. Staff were great there as well. The shopping is on the high side so we just walked the area. Pretty much the typical Mexican shops... everyone selling the same stuff.

The staff at Dreams - had a hard time communicating in English and not all that friendly. There is a small rodent problem at the resort. Not in the rooms but on the grounds.

Overall... I do not plan to visit this area again. I'll go back to Cancun where the beaches are gorgeous, the staff are friendly and the food is good.

I travel often and have to say the Dreams truly is a dream! The rooms were spacious and immaculately clean, the grounds were well-kept and beautiful and the staff very friendly. The resort is in a great location with such breathtaking views of the Pacific and the food isn't bad (this coming from an Italian from NY) considering it's "all-inclusive". I'd stay here again in a heartbeat and I recommend it to anyone - single or families!
