We (myself, my husband and 9yo son) stayed at Dreams Los Cabos from Sept. 21-28th, 2007. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! I can see where some people can nitpick this place to death, but the warmth and friendliness of the staff more than outweighed any negatives we encountered. First of all, I don't think this is a 5 star resort, 4 is a better fit. Secondly, they are doing some renovating and El Patio was closed during our stay. There were also some portions of the resort that had furniture pulled out into the courtyard...which looked a bit bad, but they were not putting guests in those rooms, so you really didn't have to access those areas unless you were wandering around the resort. It is true also that you cannot swim in the ocean there, but the pools were sufficient for us to swim in and catch some sun.
The food was good, not excellent, but good. We definitely didn't go hungry! Yes, breakfast was essentially the same buffet each day...we just chose different things to try each time. We basically didn't eat lunch much....mostly had snacks by the pool or grabbed a hotdog or burger at the Barracuda bar. Dinners were pretty good. I have a degree in hotel and restaurant mgmt., so my standards are pretty high, but the food was good for the most part. Portofino was my favorite, then Oceana, then Himitsu. My husband had sushi at Himitsu and he said that was excellent, the rest of their food was just O.K. The service we received everywhere at the resort was fantastic! The server at Himitsu even went out of his way to get chicken nuggets for my son since they didn't have a children's menu! (I knew they had them at the resort since they are on the room service menu.) We ordered room service a few times and never encountered any problems. The food arrived in 30 mins. or so and it was always hot/cold depending on the item-- the american breakfast was delicious!
Our son met a friend while we were there and they went to the kids club almost every day for at least a couple of hours. There weren't a lot of kids at the resort during our stay, so they were the only ones in the kids club much of the time. I can't say enough about the kids club staff....Gina and Rosy were fantastic! It also gave us a much-needed break each day which was priceless.
I can't end this without mentioning the very hard- working entertainment staff! They were there each and every day...all day and into the night! Moy, Lalo, Lucero, Miguel...just to name a few! They were fantastic! It meant SO much to our son that they would greet him and remembered his name each day, gave him high fives etc. The shows they put on each night were fun too! We even had a blast and made good friends with some of the bartenders: Victor, Octavio, Sbeidy and Joaquin at the Barracuda bar were the best! My husband even got misty saying goodbye to Victor! The warmth and friendliness of these kind people truly exceeded our every expectation! We would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

We just returned from a week at Dreams and although the weather was a bit toasty (upper 90's each day) it did little to put a damper on a great vacation. I cannot reconcile how anyone can give this place a bad review. The place is beautiful. The grounds are kept immaculate and the staff is always eager to please (tip or not but please do as they work so very hard often beyond the call of duty).
Our favorites (hard to remember them all);
Lobby Bar - Pepe, Pablo, Moises (best drinks are found here)
Recreation & Entertainment Staff - Lucero, Lalo and Candy (unbelievable workers who love people and their jobs)
Front Desk - Ivan & Katrina (so very helpful)
Oceana Restaurant - Antonio, Saul (great seafood and presentation with splendid dinner ambiance)
Seaside Grill - nice dinner ambiance and tasty lunch menu or buffet and the waiter Lolo is excellent
Portofino - The staff is all so very nice and the ambiance here is wonderful
Himatsu - rice is uncooked and horrible and sushi is not shushi (should switch it to Mexican restaurant)
El Patio - closed until our last day but it is a beautiful restaurant at the oceans door with all meals a buffet (or theme night)
For training the fitness center is perfect. They keep the equipment clean and in working order and always cool.
The entertainment is fun for those who can accept that it is not Broadway. If you want a good time the staff and audience can always seem to make it happen. Lots of participation.
The rooms were clean and decorated nicely. Great maid service daily (including turn down at night). Our maid Bertha was great.
Make sure to request a higher floor for a fabulous view of the ocean and facility.
The ocean is not suitable for swimming. Undertoe and waves are too rough. Swimming is available at the Hilton about a 15 minute walk down the beach. Pools are awesome. Lots of chairs and shade. They do not permit saving chairs which is nice and hey do enforce the rule. Makes it fair for everyone.
Shuttle and taxi service (optional) to Cabo San Jucas and San Jose Del Cabo is a must. Gives you the flavor of two very different towns in Mexcio. To and from the airport we had a wonderful experience with Trans Cabo. We booked it in advance (online) and they were waiting for us with a sign and nice Cadillac Escalade ($65 for four people one way).
The airport is easy in and out but does not have enough seating
at times so get there early for one.
Overall this place is great. We stayed at Dreams Puerto Vallarta
last year which was comparable (maybe a little better food there). Dreams is a dream, so go enjoy the memories of a lifetime in Los Cabos and then share your great experience with others.....

My husband and I were at Dreams from 9-21-07 thru 9-29-07. During that time, we were treated like royalty. Everyone there was so nice and accommodating. I had read bad reviews on this property, however, we experienced nothing but the best. Our accommodations were wonderful, the staff was friendly and helpful and always ready to assist you in any way. If anyone stays at Dreams and has a bad experience, I feel that they are not able to be pleased anywhere.

My husband and I travel extensively and have not found any property more outstanding. The rooms were well taken care of as they were cleaned twice a day. The beds were turned down at night.

Our hats off to the general manager and his staff. A special thanks to Jean Louis Magron, resident manager, for his kindness. Also the entertainment staff was wonderful.

This was our 10th anniversary trip, as well as a 50th birthday for some friends who went with us. The resort had a beautiful birthday cake to present to our friend and also they decorated our room one night for our anniversary.

All in all, I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone. Again, if you have a bad experience, it is your own fault. I can't image anyone at that hotel being ugly or not willing to help their guests. We will DEFINITELY be back!

Thanks again so much to Dreams Los Cabos and their staff!!

We stayed at Dreams for a quick honeymoon getaway after our wedding. We were there from Sept. 23-30th. For an all inclusive, this is upscale. There were mostly buffets for breakfast, but the food was good, and you can order something to be prepared if you like. I am a vegetarian, and the Oceana prepared cheese enchillada's for our romantic dinner there- even though El Patio, the Mexican restaurant was closed for remodeling.
The dissapointments: no fan in the bathroom-- the mirror steams up quickly, so we left the door open.
The restaurant being closed without any notice to us prior.
Chairs hard to come by at the pool.
Not a huge selection of vegetarian food.
We were suppose to get a Honeymooners banner on our door, and didn't (minor, but it would have been nice)
Maid service was okay (even with daily tips)
No one seemed to know we were honeymooners even though we let them know prior to arrival, we were suppose to receive some extras and an upgrade and didn't get it.
The wine selection in the all inclusive package is so/ so.
Sort of pricey.
The entertainment is pretty much the same during the afternoon, but evening is different and enjoyable.
If you go golfing at Cabo Real- take bug spray for the first 9!
The good points: the beds are comfortable, the rooms are nice and our room had a breathtaking view.
There are several restaurants offering food from a menu, and not just the same, old, boring all inclusive atmosphere.
The people are very friendly, and I am now expecting my husband to say, "It's my pleasure" all the time!
Portofino has decent italian.
It is smaller, which we liked, and the kids weren't too annoying.
Everyone tried to be very accomodating and the drinks were strong!
Please- tip the bartenders- they work hard and DESERVE IT!
The best part was the lobby bar- Rendesvous, which we wish we would have went to from first day- Victor, Pepe, Moises, Everado and Pedro are the best! They made our trip relaxing, fun and enjoyable. We may or may not return, if we get a better deal than we did this time, then we'll go to relax, for the views and for the great service, especially from the Rendevoux amigos!

My wife and I chose Dreams Los Cabos for our honeymoon, based a lot on Trip Advisor and other people I spoke with. We are both well traveled, however we usually don't opt for all inclusive as we are more on the adventurous side. I spoke with a travel agent briefly, but in the end, decided to do my own research and booking. I'm so glad I did. I booked our room for 6 nights directly through the Dreams' website. After about 3 weeks, I went back in to recheck the price and to my surprise, it had gone down over $1000 dollars. I immediately called and was able to rebook at the reduced rate. I have no doubt that a travel agent wouldn't have looked twice after making the booking. After you book your trip, I would check back often for price changes as they tend to fluctuate a lot and often. In several reviews on Trip Advisor, it recommended asking for a room on the highest floor (6th floor) - I'm glad we did. Cathedral ceilings and excellent views. We slept with the sliding deck doors open every night and the music and noise from below was never too loud.

The pools, bars, and common areas were pleasant and relaxing - the food -- only okay. They were renovating one restaurant, so they were down to four. We tried them all and quickly decided the asian restaurant was our favorite and we went there most - both big sushi fans.

My wife used the spa for massage and facial and was very impressed. The only real excursion we did was to charter a fishing boat for just the two of us. I highly, highly recommend this. For a little over $400, we had the boat to ourselves with the crew and were able to catch lots and lots of fish - dorado (mahi mahi), tuna, wahoo, and of course, marlin - we had a blast and was the highlight of my trip. You don't have to go out very far and even those with weak stomachs should be able to handle it okay.

We did received the honeymoon package we requested - sign on door, flower petals on bed, soft music, candles, and bottle of champaigne on ice - very nice. The staff was nice and attentive - both during meals and poolside.

Overall, we were both very happy with our trip. For true relaxation and to have everything at your fingertips - this was just what we needed.
