I was fortunate enough to take a sumer trip with Panterra. I bumped into Leila, who I had ever met, and another traveller at the airport in Calgary. Leila offered that we could drive with her to La Paz instead of waiting for the transport van.
My trip started as soon as we landed. What a wonderful way to see the real parts of Mexico and meet the people. The geography was outstanding. Leila knew which places to sail to and maximize our time. The pictures do not do justice to the beauty of the land and the people. The crew were so warm and accommodating. The food was outstanding. I have a fond memory of hermit crab races that sent Estelle back to the kitchen muttering about playing with food. Another fond memory was putting on the flood lights before supper and going out after to see what had gathered from the food chain. One event involved some of the literary types linking the amazing flood of thousands of fish swarming the yatch to a passage in one of Hemingway's novels. Everyday we saw pods of hundreds of dolphins and even some whale sightings. Good times.
I hope to go another trip in the future. I recommend any trip with this outfit. I felt the primary focus was on meeting individual needs and accommodating each individual to meet their goal for the trip. If you wanted to snorkel and swim- it was available. If that was not your style, a Panga was arranged to take you on a tour of a nearby island. Or you could stay behind and read a book and nap. We were well prepared to ensure we were always safe. There is a broad base of knowledge about the land and the people that comes only with years of experience. All day long there was something to do as a group or as an individual.
Leila was flexible and accommodating. I had a wonderful time.
