I read a lot about the Fiesta Americana Grand before, so let me tell you the real experience:
1. The hotel property is simple incredible, the hotel is located in one of the most exclusive areas, Cabo del Sol, a Luxury development in the Los Cabos Corridor, with 2 Championship golf courses, resorts, and full ownership condos and villas.
2. The hotel itself is magnificent, located at a cliff it goes from top of the hill to the sea, so the views are spectacular. The rooms are not too big, but very well appointed, the bathroom with separate shower and tub deserves a special mention.
3. The service is always warm and friendly, they make you feel at home.
4. The infinity pools -3 in total are truly awesome, they have spectaculare views of the ocean, also they are really hot , this is specially good if you have little children like me.
5. The beach as i´ve read is very rocky, the sand itself is quite rough, but with low tide you can try to take a swim.
6. The food is really good, we tried the breakfast buffet at the Viña del Mar, wide variety, and great taste (about $30); the poolside Peninsula menu (great hamburguers, and nachos (about $15) a corona beer ($4), and the gourmet restaurant Rosato, great for a romantic Dinner with a nice view
Overall The Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos is everything we expected and more, it will not disapoint you!!!

We have traveled to Cabo several times and love it. Unfortunately, the first 6 hours of our visit last week was a nightmare, due the the staff at the Fiesta Americana. We had reserved a private car from the airport so we coud make a few stops on the way to the hotel. When we arrived at the airport, the hotel had sent a car for us to share with other couples. We had to make our own arrangements at the airport and pay $155 USD for a private van to the hotel. We had reserved a king, non-smoking, beachfront studio unit and confirmed our reservation the day prior to our arrival. When we checked in, we were given a room with double beds and another building in front of us. The manager we spoke to was rude, condescending and actually laughed at us. Finally they found a room for us with a King bed, still not the view we were promised, however a king bed. When we arrived at the room, the accomidations were not as described to us. The mattress on the bed was so old that you could see it sagging towards the middle on both sides with the blankets and bedspread on it. In addition there was construction we were not informed of and there were several amenities, including the pool closest to our room that were inoperable. We spent the next hour calling around Cabo to find a new hotel. Luckily it was not high season, so we were able to secure a room in a different hotel. Bottom Line, the accommodations were shabby and the lack of service and professionalism of the management was unacceptable.

  • Liked — There was one very pleasant bell boy at the complex.
  • Disliked — service and quality of the bed
  • Tips/Secrets: — do not stay here

Let me start by stating my fiancee and I went with two other couples to the Fiesta Americana. One of the couples had just bought into the vacation club there and were able to get us a great deal on airfare and hotel accomadations if we listened to the sales pitch at the resort. That said, here are my comments:

Resort: definately a beautiful resort with wonderful pools and a decent beach. the pools were HUGE and included a swim up bar, a waterfall, and an infinity pool. each pool was at a seperate elevation, gradually leading down to the beach. I have to complement the staff on cleaning the place up so well. we arrived in CABO just 2 days after JOHN went thru, and most of the sand and debris had been cleared. the pools were warm, which was a negative when the sun was out, however, when it was raining that was certainly a plus.

Beach: if you are expecting wine powder sand, this isn't the place for you. most of the "sand" is rock and can be quite coarse in places. however, there are places to get into the waves if you want and are careful of the rocks. the beach is rugged and beautiful, but definately not like Cancun or hawaii. just keep that in mind when you go to CABO in general.

Rooms: The rooms were clean, cool, and comfortable. the biggest feature was the large walk in showers with enough room for two people. coming home to my dinky shower was a real bummer. the beds were comfortable and the pillows were a heavy weight feather type that were SO nice to sleep on. My only complaint here was that were supposed to have a king room but had two doubles instead. we were not able to get a king room at check in even thought the resort was totally empty (hurricane JOHN 2 days before).

restaurants: we ate some the best seafood in CABO that I have ever had. It was super fresh and the shrimp were excellent. We ate our first lunch at the restaurant attached to the Bikini Bar and were a little surprised at the prices. for 4 people and a few drinks we spent almost 150$! So understand that CABO in the resort areas are certainly not cheap. We ate a very nice and casual dinner that first night at the cafe. The Ceviche was the highlight for me and my fiancee loved the seafood stew. The enchiladas were okay. Rosatos opened our second night there and had a nice looking menu. I was a little skeptical about the food though, but the six of us ate there anyways. We ended up there spontaneously, and probably weren't dressed appropriately, but they had a table for us and seated us immediately. Let me say that this was the best dining experience I have had in a while. The service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. Most of us had seafood which was AWESOME. I had scallop carpaccio, my Fiancee had lobster raviolis, our friends had seafood stew, and octopus! Oh my, if you stay at this resort you have to eat at Rosatos! Superb!

Service: we had excellent service by everyone, but honestly the hotel was practically empty. I was really nice being waited on because there were hardly any others at the resort. I guess the time to go to CABO is after labor day and after a big hurricane!!

vacation club people: we listened to there pitch and said no! and they left us alone the entire rest of our stay! Amazing!

The only real negative experience we had was due to the elevators not working most of the time we were there. The one by the room was out our entire stay and the main bank were out 3 out of the four days. We did have access to the employee/service elevator, but it was a little tricky at times.

  • Liked — Best Pina Coladas around!!
  • Disliked — Hiking the stairs everytime you wanted to do something
  • Tips/Secrets: — Eat at Rosatos!!!!!!

We just returned from a week at the FAGVC. Aug.18 thru Aug.25. We had a 2 bedroom that was very spacious. There were 6 adults, 1 child, 1 teenager, and a toddler. There was plenty of room for all of us. The #2 bedroom was the lock-off room which had 2 double beds, balcony, sink to wash a few dishes, small fridge, microwave, coffee pot, t.v. and enough room to put a pak n play ( portable crib) for the toddler to sleep in. The Master suite was very spacious also. Jacuzzi tub, shower, and nice view of the sea of cortez.
The main room had a couch bed which was small for the couple sleeping it. With no problem we called for a roll-away bed. The kitchen average for a time-share unit. No oven though. But a microwave. Nice size balcony. All rooms are ocean view. The people were very nice. No problems being hassled about a time-share. They talked to us when we 1st checked in said"no thank-you" and that was it. The rooms were far enough that golf carts are needed to transport us to and from our room. Had several pools all big and the water was very, very warm. Didn't like that. After shopping in hot and humid weather all I wanted was a cool pool. Nope. No washer and dryer in room but there are ones on each floor at no charge.
I would recommed renting a car as FA is not walking distance to anywhere. I would also go to costco which is about a 10 min. (at the most) drive and stock up on water, beer , food etc. or any other type of market . The drinks will add up before you know it.
We did not eat a lot at the hotel we either went out to downtown csl or had food that we bought from costco. which saved us a lot of $$$. We had a great time. Hotel was beautiful. Employees very nice and helpful. Maid service everyday.

My wife and I stayed at Fiestamericana last year in September and abosolutly loved this resort. In fact, from the time we returned I began looking for a vacation club resale online and was able to find a really good deal on one.

I'll start with the bright side of our recent stay. For the mostpart, all of the staff were very kind, courteous and accomodating. You can tell that they really do care about their guests. The resort is naturally one of the most beautiful you will find in any resort area.

OK, now for the not so bright side of our recent stay... One of reasons we purchased a vacation club membership here is because they have an outstanding restaurant at the top of the resort with an amazing view of the Sea of Cortez. The restaurant was closed the entire time we were there. They said they weren't busy enough to open the restaurant.

Our room was very uncomfortable as the AC kicked off and on constantly and there was a serious ant problem in the bathroom. However, the view was quite nice.

When we visited the resort a year ago the steam room in the mens locker room of the spa did not work. I was amazed that one year later it still did not work properly for the same reason it didn't work before.

My wife had $200 stolen out of her purse when the room was cleaned. I didn't even report it because they do have safes in the rooms and she should have put her purse in the safe when we left. My wife was also burned by a wrap treatment that she received at the spa. She has 4 burn marks on her stomach.

One afternoon we returned to our room and the room keys did not work. I saw one of the bellman and asked if he could help. He said he did not have a key but would get us some help. 30 minutes later, no help had arrived. We finally found a maid that came right over and opened our door. We were certainly glad to get in our room but were a little concerned how easily she just opened the door and didn't check an I.D. or anything.

The private pool for vacation club owners only was drained the whole time we were there. The other pools were so hot that we hardly spent any time in the pools. The ocean water was much more refreshing.

Oh, and don't bring your laptop unless you plan to spend $30/day for internet access. What a rip off! It was $12/day last year and now $30. Their telephone system is also very deceiving. I called the front desk and asked what the charge was to make calls to the US. She said $3.50. I asked how much per minute. She said nothing, just $3.50. I made 3 calls and was charged over $150. Again, last year my AT&T calling card worked just fine. This year, the only way I could make a call was through their system.

I hope they realize that people aren't stupid and make some considerable changes to remedy these issues.

  • Liked — Staff were all friendly. Naturally a beautiful resort.
  • Disliked — Cost of calls to US and internet. Hot swimming pools. Money stolen.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Put your valuables in the safe. Don't go in the summer. Too hot and humid.
