Vacation Dates: November 5 - 12
Room: 2 BR Condo (2003 and 2004)

Summary: We loved this resort. Absolutely fantastic vacation. We can and will return. We felt pampered our entire stay.

The room: We were in a 2 bedroom condo, which consists of a 1 BR adjoining to a studio. All marble flooring, marble bathrooms (count 'em, 3!). Double-sinks in the Master BR, and a separate shower and bathtub. Kitchen was fine. The 2nd BR had 2 double beds; also had a small refrigerator, sink and microwave. The best part for all the rooms was the view. Each BR and the living room had sliding doors out to the balcony. We woke each morning to the sound of crashing waves and a beautiful sunrise. We were on the 6th floor and had breathtaking views. Note - if you have a studio, the balcony will be small and without chairs. The condos are at the end of the property. Golf carts are available to transport to and from your building. We usually just walked through the grounds. The room did have ants in the kitchen, although they only appeared if food was left out. Put everything in the refrigerator to be safe.

Pools: We found 4 pools. Each had something special. The pool closest to the condos is the smallest, although still plenty big. This one was the most comfortable water temperature. It also seemed to fill up a little earlier than the others. The 2nd pool had the bikini bar. We felt this one was a little chilly, but being able to belly-up to the bar while in the pool was great. Lounge chairs near this pool were the best, with thick double-wide cushions-for-two. The 3rd pool was the sporting pool. It had volleyball and a basketball hoop. Oddly, no chairs at all around this one. The final pool was the largest. Water temperature varied within this pool, so it could satisfy anyone. The end closest to the ocean was downright chilly. They were pumping in heated water at the center, so it was very warm. The end closest to the hotel had a slope taking you gradually to 4 ft deep. The shallow part was nicely heated from the sun. All the pools were lined with deep blue tiles which gave a wonderful inviting look.

Facilities: Hammocks were available all over the grounds (my husband learned you could tip these over pretty easily). There was a fire pit that was lit every night with comfortable seating around it, and a telescope nearby to take advantage of the clear view of the stars (pretty much every night that we were there). Between the beach and pool there were comfortable chairs facing the ocean, perfect for reading. Everything was well taken care of. 2 Weddings took place while we were there. The first generously provided fireworks for all the guests of the resort.

Staff: Everyone was very courteous and worked hard to make guests happy. When going to the pool, there was always an employee there asking how many towels were needed, and offering to open the beach umbrella or to get a server for drinks. The condos are cleaned daily which was a surprise - we expected it to be once, mid-week. And they clean very thoroughly (my sister-in-law was amazed that they folded her clothes and re-arranged her bathroom supplies).

Be sure to take plenty of small bills for tipping. Tipping is not required, but we were happy to reward the great service that we received.

Beach: Beautiful beach, although not suited for swimming - very rocky shore. Some did venture in for snorkeling and swimming. There were little tiki huts dotting the beach. Sand was fairly coarse. Massages were available. For better swimming, go up the coast (drive) to Santa Maria or Chilleno beach.

Restaurants: Anything at the facility is pricey. We tried Vina Del Mar. Mexican food primarily which was pretty good. Remember, traditional Mexican is not what you may be used to! We also attended the Tuesday night Mexican Buffet there. Worth it if you drink. We had lunch at the Peninsula restaurant one day. Diet Cokes were over $3 each. No refills. Burgers were about $10. Foods can be ordered poolside also. It was nice to have convenience of food at the resort, but go to Cabo San Lucas for more variety and better value.

Offsite: We rented a car for the week. We felt this was the best value, rather than taking the shuttle or taxis. Costco was awesome for developing photos (about $3 for doubles of 4x6 photos - with 1 hour developing). We also picked up pizza for dinner one night there. If going to the grocery, skip the CCC and go 1 more block to the Soriana. We went Scuba Diving with Manta Diving. Great small operation -- highly recommended. We dined at La Dolce (great Italian); Edith's (amazing steaks, and Lobsters -- pricey, but worth it); and Mi Casa (traditional Mexican). Also tried the Office for lunch. Okay, but you're really going for the drinks and the party atmosphere, so don't kid yourself that the food is the draw. The beaches have a lot of vendors hawking their goods. We even went to a smaller beach (Santa Maria) and probably got hit up 20 times in 2 hours. Rent an umbrella though -- with the hot sun, this was worth it!

I've been to Cozumel 3 times and remember it as being fairly in-expensive. That is NOT Cabo. This has a lot of big-money visitors. Pricing was comparable to places in the US - don't expect it to be cheap.

You will be approached on going through a time-share presentation, probably even as soon as you get off the plane (or pick up your rental car as in our case). You can get some great deals so I recommend you take advantage. Say NO first though -- they'll up their offer. On our last day we had someone start with $200 cash. Everytime we said no, they added on including 2 hours with a wave-runner and a $50 dinner voucher. Our time share presentation was not a hard-sell. Plenty of opportunities to tell them no and cut things short.

Weather: Just a note. It was high of 90 degrees and perfect blue skies every day. Light breezes picked up in the late afternoon. Temps were low 70's in the evenings. Absolutely perfect weather for a vacation.

Overall, we loved the resort. We'll definitely return. Set your expectations appropriately. Plenty of opportunities to relax or be active, whatever you prefer.

My sister, mom, and I just returned from a week stay at the Fiesta Americana. The resort was beautiful and we had a great time. The inifinity pools are wonderful and very relaxing. The beaches are rocky and not swimmable but they have huts on the beach that are very relaxing especially when the sun is just too hot. It was hot down there about 95 or so everyday but not unbearable. The resort was not very crowded while we were there which was nice.

The resort has a computer where you can email free postcards with your picture and an email message so this was nice to keep in touch. We found the food to be disappointing. This was the only disappointment of the trip. The restaurants at the resort were not very good. DO NOT order the crab sandwich at the peninsual restaurant. It was unedible.

The best thing to do is take the shuttle into town which was 10 a person roundtrip and eat in town. The best meal we had was at the office. Fun atmosphere but dont sit by the beach because there are vendors that all stand there and wont leave you alone. Da Giorgios is an italian place we ate at one night and the food was average but the view was spectacular. Great view of Cabo and the arches especially at sunset. Other places we went were mi casa, margaritaville, panchos. These were all okay but had neat atmospheres.

We had some problems with our room with the water cutting off and got upgraded to a better room but had some problems getting them to move us and it took about 1 hour for them to come after we kept bugging them. Another neat thing to do is rent a car and see the other resorts. We went to las ventanas and palmilla. Both were incredible especially palmilla. You can eat there or just get a drink but it is definitely worth seeing. Overall this was a great resort and we had a great time. It is definitely worth visiting!

My husband and I just returned from a 7-night stay at the Fiesta Americana Grand, Los Cabos. We were there with a wedding party of about 15 other couples & family members. My first complaint is that the hotel quoted my sister a very reasonable price per night for all members of the wedding party, then tacked on $6 per day for the maid and a $20 service charge for the bellhop! Even after these charges, we were ok with the rate, but definitely felt they had taken advantage of us. On day 4 of our stay, a mysterious $42 mini-bar charge appeared on our room bill. One quick visit to the lobby and they corrected the overcharge. It was obviously an intentional oversight. If you stay here, CHECK YOUR BILL DAILY to ensure they are not tacking on extra charges. We found the rooms to be nice and clean with large bathrooms. The maid service was just fine. Several other people we traveled with were dismayed to find ants, cockroaches, and in one case a mouse, in their rooms. They hotel was quick to respond. We were in the vacation club and had a room view a spectacular view, but the balcony was tiny and had no chairs, so the view was somewhat wasted. The overall service varied from day to day, which was sometimes frustrating, but overall everyone was very nice and polite. I did not find the staff to have an "as you wish" attitude that some people might expect at a resort of this caliber, but they were indeed very nice, just not overly gratuitous.

The restaurant selection was slim...only one restaurant (the Vino del Mar) was opened the whole time we were there (Sept 10-17). We ate breakfast there once, ordered room service several times, and attended the Tuesday night Mexican fiesta (unlimited drinks, awesome Mexican food and entertainment for about $32 a person...overall a good deal and lots of fun). The food prices weren't bad for a resort of this type. We paid about $30-$35 for room service for full breakfast and about the same for lunch in the room. The best two restaurants in the area are right next door at the Sheraton Hacienda del Mar: D'Cortez (literally right on the ocean) and Pitihayas (also, view spectacular views). Both restaurants are pricey (about $50-$80 per person with drinks, full meal, dessert and tip), but very much worth it. Treat yourself and you won't be disappointed!!

Overall, if you get a good room rate, the FA Los Cabos is a great place to stay. Request a room in the last three vacation club sections for better views of the sea (the closer-in rooms have palm trees in front of the balcony which block most of the view). The quiet pool near the vacation club is wonderful, but the water is often like tepid bath water. Ewww....not the feeling you want in 100 degree + weather. Also, the pool-side lunch is not a bad deal and was actually deliciously prepared, but the poolside drinks are too expensive ($8 for a frozen mudslide, plus tax and tip). Stock up on drinks and food on your first day and you'll be set for the entire trip. We took a small cooler with us to the pool everyday and were glad to have cold drinks and snackies all day long.

Please note that this resort is not easy to get around, especially if you have problems walking or can't stand the oppressive heat. It's great if you're athletic, but expect to sweat everywhere!! The off-season restaurants (Vino del Mar and the Peninsula) are not air-conditioned. Also, the room internet access is dial-up, and the business center (which is not always open) charges $11 for one hour to be used in 24 hours, making it hard to stay in touch if that's a consideration.

Overall, this is a beautiful resort and I would stay there again if I could get a decent rate and the same room with a view. Also, September is just too hot to really enjoy all of the outdoor activities and dining. Go when it's cooler!! And remember....DON'T BUY A TIME SHARE!!!

I was at Fiesta Americana Los Cabos with my husband. The minute you walk in, they´re already calling your name. The service is great, everybody greets you and asks if you need anything. The place is impecable, there is always someone with a small bucket walking around painting the place. At nights there is music around a fireplace near the beach, great.
The food is very good but very expensive. Try a sushi place downtown, it is great. Great vacations, great massage, great service, great food, loved it and would definitely go back.

Giving this hotel a terrible rating is being too kind. My husband and I just returned from a 6 day/5 night stay in the FA Grand Los Cabo Grand Club, room 173. We had been warned that our stay was going to be during the rainy season but we didn't mind since our purpose for the trip was to fish for our 1 year anniversary.

We arrived at the FA Grand Los Cabo right after it had rained. On our way to our room, we noticed that there were sand bags all over the hotel grounds and above the stairs that led down to our room, which made it difficult and dangerous to go down the stairs since you had to step over the bags. Once we managed to get down the stairs, we had the pleasure of walking through a 4 foot by 4 foot section of standing water that was about 2-3 inches deep. We also noticed that in the section of rooms where our room was located, a towel was jammed under each door, including ours. The sand bags, towels and stading water remained the entire time of our visit. On the second to last night, we awoke to find water that was moving quickly into our room at 9:30AM. We were able to get everything off the floor before the room completely flooded with water and mud. There was atleast 2 inches of water in our room. We notified our Grand Club conceirge and she did not seem surprised at all. She called to someone and informed us that they were in the room. She asked us if we would like to have them clean it or if we would like to switch to a different room. We opted to switch and she informed us that they would locate a room for us. We returned to the room to pack and waited around for 4 hours to finally be moved into our new room. Mind you, we weren't exactlly ready for the day since we just got up and had to rush out of the room. It seemed strange to me that it could take so long to locate a vacant room since it was the offseason and the hotel was not packed. The new room had a nice view but was not as nice as the original room that we had. I had left something in the original room and when we returned to it we noticed that the water and mud was cleaned up but it still remained under the bed and armoire. Dirty! I can understand that there is no controlling the weather but I am 100% sure that the hotel is aware of the flooding situation due to the sand bags all over the grounds and the towels under each ground level room. They're lack of concern, proactive measures to the rain situation and slow action to help us completely turned me off.

An accurate review of all the restaurants and/or food is not possible since the "fine" Italian restaurant Rosato's was not open due to renovations. The menu at the Vina del Mar restaurant was not appealing. I tried to play it safe by ordering a pasta dish but it came out smelling and tasting like vomit. The only thing good there was the bread and butter. The Peninsula Bar\Restaurant seemed to have decent food, which I thought was strange since the other restaurant sucked. The menus, food and restaurants should switch locations.

On the last night of our stay, we took the shuttle that the hotel had arranged into down since the rental car had been returned. The last pick up to return to the hotel was for 9:00PM. We had paid for the shuttle to take us to town and back to the hotel. We arrived at the pick up area at 8:30PM and found 2 other couples waiting. By 9:00 more people had showed up and as soon as the shuttle arrived everyone made a mad dash for the shuttle. There wasn't enough room on the shuttle and after the taxi driver made a pathetic attempt to resolve the situation, my husband and I had to pay for a taxi back to the hotel. As soon as we arrived I spoke to someone at the desk and explained what had happend and that I felt that we should have our shuttle money back since the service was not used. He checked with the driver and came back to tell me that I had choosen to take the private taxi on my own and that the shuttle service was not part of the hotel so there was really nothing that he could do for me. Needless to say at that point I was fuming. I explained to him that the shuttle service was suggested by the hotel since they gave us the literature on the first day about what transportation services they provided and it was the hotels responsibility to handle the situation. I was able to get my money back but it wasn't about the money. It was about the hotel not having planned properly for the return shuttle people and how he was not willing to help the customer. They should have been able to determine how many people needed to be picked up on the last pick up and had enough transportation ready by knowing the number tickets sold in the day, the amount of people that had returned earlier in the day and how many tickets that were outstanding.

I've read and heard many positive reviews of this hotel but I just don't see what they were talking about, but I guess I'm just blinded by the horrible service and poor hotel management. On the way to the hotel, we met 2 other couples that also also had horrible things to say about the 2 hotels that they stayed at. I guess maybe in the offseason, the hotels bring in the second string service team.

Luckily, the fishing was unbelievable and made the trip worth while.
