I just got back from a 7 day trip (August 14-21st) to Cabo, where my boyfriend and I stayed at the Fiesta Americana Grand. We stayed in the timeshare section of the resort. At our arrival we were put in a room with two double beds (WAY too small) but after talking to a manager, we were moved to a studio with a King size bed. The room was nice, but not immaculate. It had a nice large bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the ocean. We were also moved to a closer location the pools. The timeshare section of the resort is quite a hike from the pools and the main building, FYI. If you are going to the main building, you can call the bell desk and ask for a golf cart to pick you up.

The resort is kept in immaculate condition. It is VERY clean and the staff is very friendly.

We took our trip in August - and boy was it HOT! It was over 100 degrees every day. We went into town a couple of times during the day, but it was just so hot. For the most part, we stayed in the pool and hung out at the bikini bar (the bar in the pool) during the day, then we went to town at night. Sometimes the pools were even too hot. For the first two days, the pools were warmer than a bathtub, but we think they "cooled" the pools after day three. We had a wonderful dinner at Mi Casa! Other great places were: The Giggling Marlin (great burrito and fun atmosphere), Squid Roe (drinking and partying), Pochos (free bottle of wine & great banana flambee), and the Office (tables in the sand). We took a dinner cruise on the CaboRey boat. The boat is a nice size and I didn't get sea sick at all. (I get sea sick pretty easily.) The dinner on the ship was OK, but the views were worth it.

Here's a tip: Go snorkeling right off the beach in the small cove downstairs from the main pool. There are TONS of fish and the water is only waist deep. If you release some crackers, the fish come swarming! Amazing parrot fish, blow fish, and angel fish!

We rented a car, and we were happy we did. It ended up being $400 for the week for an automatic with air conditioning and insurance.

There are hardly any activities at the resort and the gym costs extra money per day, so if you are looking for a jam packed resort with tons to do, this is not the place for you. However, if you are looking for a large, beautiful resort for a romantic getaway - this is the perfect place for you!

I booked a 4 night stay at the Fiesta Americana after spending 2 weeks of trying to decide on which resort. I finally settled on FA because the deal I got on Expedia was the best deal for the highest rated hotel. The photos were limited and did not do the resort justice which is why it took me so long to decide.

I also booked a round-trip shuttle with Gray Line with my trip purchase which I strongly recommend as you don't want a taxi driver taking you to a timeshare sales pitch on the way to your hotel.

So we arrived and our jaws dropped. It was one of the most spectacular resorts...and that was just the lobby with the view from the lobby bar of the ocean. I walked closer to the lobby bar to take in the view and looked down from the open window and the grounds were spectacular, much larger than it looked in the photos on the FA website.

I had upgraded to the Grand Club at only $102 per night and it was the better deal. Our room was equivalent to a Ritz Carlton with a jacuzzi tub and separate shower and ocean view which was only a few yards off our balcony. Upgrading to a timeshare is the same price but I suggest the Grand Club upgrade because it includes free food.

Included in the Grand Club room was the Grand Club Lounge with its own concierge. There was a complimentary breakfast each morning and the food was the same as in the restaurants. We had a choice of several cereals, mixed fruit, papaya juice, honeydew melon juice, cantaloupe juice, pineapple juice and also freshly sliced papaya and melon along cheese and meats and salmon with cream cheese and also freshly baked pastries, coffee, cappucino and espresso.

During the day we stopped by for complimentary bottled water, freshly baked cookies and at 5pm we went by for appetizers, such as ceviche (also from the restaurant), the most delicious tortilla chips, guacamole and fresh salsa along with canapes and assorted cheeses.

At 6pm, they brought out the top-shelf liquors and we made our own drinks. We were so full we never ate dinner once! The only meal we paid for was lunch!

We charged all our poolside drinks, shopping and lunches to the room and when we checked out we only owed $130 each! Having the upgraded room was actually cheaper because if we had been paying for our breakfasts, and dinners and evening cocktails, it would have cost us a lot more than the $102 per-night upgrade which split three-ways was only a little over $33 each! What a deal!

You really do need to use a very very heavy sunblock down there. I used 60 and still burned a little and I was under a Palapa on the beach most of the time but the wind carries the UV rays so you can burn under the shade there so PLEASE do bring a strong sunblock and frequently reapply.

We went into the water and it was so warm. The beach, the water compares to Jamaica. The sand is made from rose granite and walking on it exfoliates your feet. My feet are smooth and soft from it. I had a massage in a draped covered cabana on the beach and felt like Cleopatra.

In the evening, they light a giant fire pit and there is an outdoor sofa with pillows for reclining. They bring out a giant telescope for star-gazing.

Oh and during the day, sitting under a Palapa on the beach, we would look out and see Marlin jumping.

We never did leave the resort except for a quick excursion to a pharmacy in town and you don't need to leave because all your needs are met at the Fiesta Americana. We had no desire to check out any other resorts either.

There is a store at the resort to buy all kinds of things from packaged snacks to medications, sunblock, bikinis. hats, cuban cigars, etc. There is also a jewelry store that looks very expensive but is not and since I hate negotiating in the marketplace, I bought some beautiful cheap and gorgeous jewelry there. A silver pair of hoops were only $3.

There are lovely hammocks all over the grounds. By the pool, there is a covered area with Ambient music playing through a speaker while in the lobby bar, jazz music plays.

We requested a late-check out and we were told "If the room is not needed you may check out at 2pm but if the room is needed, then you may have full access to the spa as long as you want."

We also asked if on our next trip we could arrange to dine in the evening in the beach cabana (the ones used for beach massage) and we were told "Si! We can arrange that with the Peninsula
restaurant (the one by the pool). They light it with candles and bring in a table with chairs. Its a great idea for a special anniversary or birthday dinner or for a romantic marriage proposal. (pay attention guys! your woman will say YES if do this)

Anyway I can go on and on but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to write me.

My friends and I are already looking forward to return visit in a few months and will only stay at the Fiesta Americana. They earned our loyalty.

For those of you who like TimeShares, they have them and they are in a separate buidling and called the Vacation Club. I am not interested in timeshares and they never bothered me about them. I would much rather stay in the Grand Club area as I don't want to even see a kitchen when on vacation.

We arrived on 8-7-04 with a group of 8 of us.
We had arranged for 2- 1 bedromm villas and
a room with 2 double beds. The nice man at the desk Jose stared at me at check in like I had 2 heads he told me that we had cancelled our reservations the evening before and all they could offer was single roomsfor the price I paid for the villas he was quick to blame hotels.com. I pulled out my confirmations from Hotels.Com it took over 3 hours to get the fiasco fixed. We ended up with some of my children in a building 2 doors down. Our room which was beautiful but had ants terrible which we had exterminated 5 times and a horrible sewage smell that we complained about 4 times they sent the maid in with some spray which would last for about an hour.
The food and drinks are very expensive but good.
The grounds are gorgeous.
The veiws are unbelievable of the ocean but be careful if you plan on swimming strong waves. the pools are like bath water and there are plenty of them
There is no way to get around other then a very expensive shuttle that the hotel runs that drops you off at the KFC in Cabo and only returns on a schedule that is not often enough and ends @ 9:00PM,I would reccomend using the taxi service which round trip will at least cost $50.00 with drivers who could double as race car drivers.

Stay away from the time share they tell you 90 minutes if you say no be prepared for 3 hours.

Edith's in Cabo is a great place to eat and the service is great.
The marina is great and the people freindly.

Costco is about 3 miles away and they were a God send for Pop chips ecetra!

Having just returned from Los Cabos and the Fiesta Americana Grand, I highly recommend this hotel for those who want a relaxing and stress-free holiday.

Upon arriving to the entrance road that leads to the Fiesta Americana you can tell that Los Cabos is going to be different, and indeed the hotel is different. Due to the topography of the land, the hotel entrance is on the top of a hill and the pool/beach is six floors below. The view upon entering the lobby is just spectacular. And while the views were spectacular, the hotel itself provided the perfect relaxing experience. My expectation was to spend a relaxing time by the pool, on the beach and perhaps on some excursions. (It is important to realize that golf, fishing and relaxing by the pool are the main activities in Los Cabos - if you expect a lot more then try another destination!) This hotel allowed me to achieve this expectation.

The service is very good and the people are very friendly. From the staff that waited at the pool to the cleaning staff, everyone went out of their way to make our time at the hotel very nice.

Things to keep in mind for Los Cabos are that distances between the airport, San Jose and Los Cabos are great - so expect high taxi fares. In addition, the entire area is a resort area, things are not inexpensive. In other words - prepare yourself to spend $20 roundtrip to get to Los Cabos, more to get to San Jose. If you plan to leave the hotel quite a bit then rent a car, if not then just go with the taxi service.

Enjoy the hotel - it is a gem in Los Cabos! For individuals outside of the US who are just learning about the Fiesta Americana brand - this is a great hotel that prides itself on service, in most cases better than many international names you will recognize.

Enjoy Los Cabos...as for me, I will definitely return to the Fiesta Americana!!!

The Fiesta American Grand Los Cabos is so close to being a miraculous resort. The location is beautiful, the grounds are some of the best I’ve seen (and rival many found in Hawaii or other topical locales), the grand view from the lobby is stunning, and the pools are fabulous. However, for every great thing about this hotel, there is something equally as irritating. For example, I found the staff to be wonderful--except the pushy and omnipresent time-share people who totally ruin the ambiance of your arrival. Remember: “I have your welcome package waiting” is code language for “Because we didn’t snag you at check-in, we want to try to sell you a time- share during the middle of your vacation as well.” Also, the views from nearly every room are first-rate, yet the bathrooms are somewhat dreary and stocked with sub-par toiletries and towels. Also, while the pools and outdoor facilities are great, the “spa” facilities are not. The steam room is a dank closet, the sauna isn’t big enough for one person, and the indoor whirlpool is nothing more than an empty bath tub. Still, I would return to this hotel because the outdoor resort is truly spectacular. Just don’t expect everything to be quite so nice. And, you absolutely must rent a car...not a problem, in my opinion, but just don't expect to arrive and never leave.
