“Wonderful time!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2013

Had a great time with my husband and two teenagers. We stayed in the villas and the accommodations were great. We had a wonderful view of the ocean and were able to see whales from the balcony during the course of the day. The food was good and there was always something on the menu to meet everyone's needs. We had great walks in the mornings in the neighborhood surrounding the property. Getting into Cabo San Lucas was easy as taxis were immediately available. We would definitely return to this property!!!!!!!

We stayed at the FA Vacation Club which is adjacent to the Grand Hotel. Used RCI with Hilton GV points for a week of exciting whale watching and enjoying the resort. Located in the Cabo del Sol complex of resorts and private residences, FA is built into a stunning cliff side with gorgeous views of the ocean and beach with rocky headlands. The whales we're so close and active.... breaching, fin-slaps and tail-slaps. Lots of mothers and calves to see. No need to book a whale watching cruise to see the action. Great snorkeling around the rocks during low tide. Beach is safe for swimming at low tide, but the water is a bit on the cool side. A golf cart will take you to the lobby area where you can take a courtesy shuttle to the highway. There you can catch the bus to town for 20 pesos. Taxis and commercial shuttles are very expensive. Renting a car can also be expensive because of the mandatory insurance you must carry while driving in Mexico. Wal Mart is a short bus ride towards town. We stocked up on fruit, Mexican pastries, bollitos, and drinks...tequila, Controy and limes, avoiding the pricey bars and restaurants at the resort. We ate dinners in town at some wonderful restaurants. All in all, a very nice week in paradise.

If you are staying her make sure you understand you must pay to take a cab to go anywhere. The cheapest meal is $25 - for burger. The restaurants were under staffed so the service was very slow. When you are paying $75 per person for dinner you expect good service. To top things off the hotel charged an extra $1,000 to our credit card which 28 days later still has not been refunded. We were very disappointed with the hotel but Cabo was incredible. We would go back tomorrow but we would never stay at this hotel again.

Room Tip: The higher the room the better the view of the ocean.

Beautiful! Great accommodations, friendly staff, plenty of room. We went in Feb. and spent a lot of time on the balcony in the hot tub and watching the whales! We were with a bunch of friends who were all turning 40. We all had a great time! Lots of great fish right at your ankles in the ocean during low tide. No need for snorkles!

5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013 via mobile

We hooked another week on our San Diego vacation & hopped down to Cabo on Spirit Airlines ($84ow). We had been there only once before & I would have to be honest & say it wasn't my favorite place. But it was a way to get out of cold Idaho so off we went. One very important thing to do in advance is arrange for a shuttle prior to getting there. I bought rt tickets with TransCabo ($40) & glad I did. The timeshare sharks are uncanny. They had orange shirts like TransCabo & tried to convince us that's who they were.
Fiesta Americana is a huge resort built on a hillside sloping down to the ocean. The one negative is that it must be a mile and a half from the main road so if you didn't have a car you paid $10 rt pp to go into Cabo.
Our room was a studio in the first phase which was located above the pool. It had 4 flights of stairs down & the patio was tiny. When a baby moved in next door we asked to be moved. They moved us to the newer units which were very nice but more importantly had a larger patio. We were on the second floor which meant 5 sets of stairs. I love having breakfast on the patio so even though it was further to the pool & ocean, it was a good trade. Our room had a coffee pot, microwave & small refrigerator We took our own coffee after reading other reviews about the $5 packets. It's true, if you use what's in the room that's what you pay.
No matter where you go, there are steps or incline. They do have golf carts to help those who need assistance. It's not a resort for those with handicaps though due to few elevators & the distance between areas
Our favorite thing at the resort was the affinity pool. It was warm & looked out over the ocean where every day we were provided with the most splendid whale show I've ever seen. Moms & babies played & jumped out of the water. It was great. We also met the nicest people. We went to dinner with one couple & whale watching with others. The people made it a great week. The staff was also super nice
The resort has 3 restaurants. We ate two dinners at the Peninsula which is open air near ocean. Meals were good there but a bit over price. We also ate at Vino Del Mar. The BBQ nite was pretty good but for $35 was a bit spendy. Another meal there was pretty poor
We went to town & ate at Maro's Shrimp House (excellent) & the Crazy Lobster which was good as well
The smell of the resort is very nice. It was minty & refreshing. I didn't use the spa but heard it was very good
We most likely will return & meet up with our new friends. Happy memories.

My husband and I (we are in our early 50s) just returned from our first trip to Cabo. Upon arrival at FA, we asked for an ocean view room, and were told if we wanted to wait 30 minutes we could be upgraded from a partial view at no charge. During this time, Tony the Concierge gave a thorough presentation of the hotel's offerings and activities in the area. He closed with telling us of a 90-minute presentation of the FA Vacation Club which, if we attended, would offer credits for hotel amenities and other attractions. We told him we were not interested and he was obviously disappointed but remained very professional and was friendly to us when we needed some assistance later.

The room was worth the wait. We received a 4th floor room with a spectacular view of the ocean (saw lots of whales) and pools. The room was quiet, immaculately clean and we felt safe at all times. Each night, turn-down service included robes and chocolates being placed on the bed, slippers put alongside the bed and water supplied.

We ate at all the restaurants during our stay. For breakfast, Vina del Mar had an expansive all-you-can-eat/drink buffet with everything from fresh-baked pastries to made-to-order omelettes and authentic Mexican luncheon items. They also had all the fixings for Bloody Marys, screwdrivers, or mimosas. Service was impeccable, thanks to Anderson, Simon, Rudy and others who made sure we had everything we possibly needed. This restaurant was also open nights for a casual dining experience.

The Peninsula Restaurant had great food with a casual atmosphere by day and dressier by night, with a beautiful setting right on the beach. We also enjoyed Rosatas (Ricardo was perfectly charming) for a more upscale dinner experience with a view from the top floor.

The pools and beach area were well maintained. No worries about finding a chair, and no need to bring towels--plenty of both are readily available. If you want service here, you will have to make it known because it seems the staff tries to balance and respect your need for privacy, and you can sit for a very long time without a waiter approaching you. Once you get their attention, you should be fine...oh, and order the chips and guac--you won't be disappointed. Jorge gave us great service.

The beach is rocky, but there is some water that is protected from waves. The water was too cold for me to venture in, but some people were enjoying some snorkeling there

There is a grand fire pit near the ocean where people gather after dark for quiet conversation. A jazz trio played some music a few nights during our stay but that is the extent of available evening entertainment. We left the property to go into San Jose Del Cabo for the Art Walk on Thursday night, but the cab ride alone cost us $75 round trip. If you want to explore Cabo San Lucas at night, be prepared to ante up for a taxi too, because the last hotel shuttle is at 9 p.m. During the day, the hotel shuttle will save you a few bucks or, we were told (we did not do it), you could take the bus if you want to walk to the bus stop (maybe 1/2 mile with some major hills).

We do not golf or fish, but I did take a massage at Somma (reviewed separately), and we both worked out in the fitness center that had excellent views of ocean and first-class equipment. We also did the SunRider whale watching dinner cruise (reviewed separately).

Overall, we enjoyed the property and would recommend it to others.

Hotel is good with beautiful views. Service n food is excellent. The ocean is too rough and not a good place to snorkel. They should improve the room quality. The bathroom was too small n not advisable for old people as the bath tub was at a hieght

Room Tip: Make sure the ocean front room has a good view of the ocean. Not all ocean front rooms get a nice vi...
