OK. Before I start my review I would like to preface this review by saying this is not my first stay at F.A. Grand Cabos. This is my third and my last.

First of all, our initial drop off to the hotel was the sign of all things gone wrong. We booked our travel through Apple Vacations -- like always.

We were dropped off away from the main entrance -- why? I have no idea. My wife, son, and myself had to grab our baggage and wheel them to the front door. There were plenty of doorman standing around doing nothing. It was not until we walked up to the front door that they offered to take our bags.

The front desk could not find our reservation. Good thing we had our confirmation. The problem was corrected once they realized that our names were not spelled correctly or properly inputed into their reservation system as first name last, last name first. The opposite of the correct format.

Our room was not ready even though we checked in at 10am -- which we understand b/c check in was not until 3pm -- no problem. We were told to enjoy our time at the pool and we would be notified when our room was ready. Guess what? No one notified us all day. At 5pm we went to the Grand Club to inquiry about our room and was told it still was not ready. Finally at 6pm we got our room.

The room was very nice, as usually. Very clean. The maid did a good job keeping it clean and well stocked with fresh towels.

The pool area had a serious problem with Seagulls. They are very agressive. If you order any food....beware!!!!! Do not walk away from your food for one minute. If you do, you will never see your food again. The Seagulls will attack in hords!!!

The lounge chairs are in need of repair and/or replacement. But do not worry, there are plenty of towels to cover them up.

The food quality has gone down while the price of the food has GONE way, way, way, did I say way, UP! Typical dinner for two couples, including a few drinks, averaged $300. The portions were also small. The portions were so small I thought I was visiting a diet clinic. Lunch at the pool typical cost in the range of $75 to $150 including drinks for 4.

There is one restaurant in the hotel that has a different food theme each night (i.e. Italian, Mexican, Seafood) and it is buffet style. The night we decided to eat in the hotel, the theme was Italian @ $50/person. We walked around the buffet and decided not to eat there. There was no meat offering on the buffet. It was all pasta. How can you charge $50/person for pasta? The remaining nights we decided to eat out. I can tell you all about the wonderful restaurants in another review later. Eating dinner in Cabo averaged $200 to $400 for two couples. Food was excellent.

Lets talk about cabs. Since Fiesta Americana Grand Cabo is located about 25 minutes from downtown Cabo, the cab fare was $20 each way and $30 each way to San Jose. I spent close to $300 in cab fare.

One thing I do want to say about Fiesta American Grand Cabo hotel is a very clean Hotel, inside and out. The staff is friendly and helpful. The property is very large and there is plenty of walking to get around the property.

The hotel charges a fee to use the Fitness center -- $10/day.

In closing, my recommendation would be to look else where for a place to stay, like the Westin. I hope this helps.

Booked through Hilton Grand vacation Club as we're timeshare owners. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous and the infinity pools are spectacular. You could walk and search out hidden hot tubs with a great view of the ocean. Cool! The staff are friendly and the grounds very clean. The gym was well equipped.

Our two bedroom was a good size with a great view. It was a hike to get to the room from the lobby, had to take a golf cart. Pick up your food and refreshments at the local Coscto and you're all set!
On the negative side, the rooms could have been updated and a little cleaner. The bed was quite firm.

Was a little miffed that the concierge would not acknowledge our Hilton ownership to take advantage of discounts to purchase a catamaran tour. She was actually quite rude to my wife. In the end, we've paid a lot of money to be owners with Hilton and to be treated this way was very disapointing. Also, many staff could not speak english.

Overall though still a very nice experience.

We spent 5 days at this hotel last year at the Club Level and had a WONDERFUL time. In fact, I raved about this place to everyone so we booked it again for 4 nights this year. I will NOT return, though.
Last year when we arrived there were absolutely no sales pitches...this year...a "vulture" salesperson came swooping to us and the front desk just "let it happen!" We had been traveling almost 12 hours and our room was not ready. All I wanted to do was get to the restaurant, have something to eat and RELAX. Nope....I mentioned ver nicely 4 TIMES...that I was tired and wanted to rest....DUH can you take a hint? I finally said.."Look..I will call you." As she left she said that she wasn't working the next day BUT mention her name if we decided to take the sales tour. I said..."sure so you can have all the credit!!" Our room was finally ready after several hours and to my surprise how WORN the Club Level Room looked and it smelled from mildew!! The next day I went to the beach to sit under one of the umbrellas at the Club Level Beach and was told the NOW I had to make a reservation!! I said, "I am staying at the Club Level Room and last year there were no reservations needed". The gal replies..."Well, you are staying ONLY in a Club Level Room NOT a SUITE." Excuse me? Now they are putting "levels" at the Club Level to have a place at the beach. I just walked away, shaking my head. On the last night as I was organizing my suitcase I notced that one of the pair of slippers they provided was gone. I am thinking..OK..now they will charge me since they are very slick with this. I called the desk and informed them that the slippers were missing, please check with the maid because I did not take them nor did I want this to appear on the bill. I checked out the next day...repeated everything. THEN.....I was told that the mini bar fridge had things missing....NO...we did not touch these riduculously priced items. Check with your housekeeping AGAIN on where things are going. (I have heard this from numerous people about housekeeping at Mexican hotels) SO, I check my bill and noticed they SLIPPED in a $2.00 charge. I asked about it and they responded.."Oh yeah this goes to a charity." Pretty quick may I say. I told them I give through my own charity and had it removed. Sorry if it sounds cheap but it was the principal of it.
CHECK YOUR BILL VERY CAREFULLY.
Restaurants especially Rosario..make a reservations even if the place is empty! They will NOT seat you. Go figure.
Also, do not look under the bed! Not clean at all.
Club Level pool was very crowded and Club Level Room.
Go into town...shuttle is OK but need a later departure time than 9pm from downtown. Food is good at the place but expensive...beautiful view.
If I do return to Cabo in the future I will be staying at the One and Only Pamilla.
This place has been under new management as I was told when I inquired.....maybe that is what happened? Do not know.

  • Liked — view, spa
  • Disliked — pushing sales, housekeeping, smell in room, slick billing at the end, attitudes of some at desk and club level

The grounds, pool, and rooms are nice, however the concierge has little to no customer service. We had to wait 2 hours (after check-in time) to get to our room. We were tired and frustrated after a long flight and the staff did nothing to compensate us. We saved all of our food and beverage receipts, and at check out the hotel charged us an extra $60 and could not produce a receipt for it. Instead of reversing the charge after speaking to management, they charged my credit card and I will now have to dispute it! THIS IS NOT A FIVE STAR HOTEL! And those looking to stay in a five star hotel should look elsewhere!

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon back in 2004 - before there were a lot of choices for hotels in the area. Our travel agent specialized in Mexico resorts and highly recommended this for our honeymoon. We were not disappointed. The hotel is within what appears to be a gated community of Costa del Sol - when we were there they had just broken construction on the Ritz Carlton next door. The room was absolutely beautiful and very clean and modern. The restaurants in the hotel were very good - not the typical Mexican resort catering to American tourists (Probably because it is a mexican chain). The pool was nice - never crowded and the beach was clean - warning - this hotel is not on the sea of Cortez so the water is very rough. There is a shuttle (for a fee) to the main town - where you can get affordable meals, shopping and access to the marina for boat cruises etc. I would highly recommend staying here if you don't mind spending money to get into town. Also - they have rentals on the premises and the concierge was nice enough to map a trip to Todos Santos for us.

  • Liked — Quiet
  • Disliked — A little far from the main town.
