We always go to the Finisterra (the end of the land). It's one of 3 hotels that are as far as you can stay on the most southerly tip of the Baja Peninsula. Why we go there, beautiful waves, watching the stars mansions on the hillside, watching the fishing boats. The major reason when it's hot in town it's 10 degrees or more cooler on the Pacific side and usually there's a light breeze.
The whale watcher bar is great. Get up there and watch the boats head back to the marina.
The Pools - Lower one is usually cooler, more kids and families at the upper pool. The middle pool is the swim-up bar pool with volleyball nets, drunks, and more. One year we met a rich Texan named Wiley, he was in his mid 20's, and over 3 hours that boy handed out at least 30 of his beers to people around the pool. I never saw Wiley get out of the pool although he drank at least 10 beers while we were there. I'm sure that the bar pool is well chlorinated... my wife won't use the bar pool.
The food is good, we usually had Nachos by the pool... (the lower pool). And we have never had dinner at the hotel.
We usually stop by Costco and grab a case of water, cokes, and some Tequila to take home.
The Trailer Park (real one) has been a sad situation over the years. The first time we went there it was really good. The next trip it was expensive, slow, had no lobster. Drinks were fair.
Overall the quality has dropped with more tourists, I suppose they don't need repeat business.
The Office is my Favorite. Try to go when they have the Mexican bands and dancers. The food and drinks are fun and you can take off your shoes (it's on the beach).
Do a ATV trip it's fun, but don't be an idiot. Out of a group of 15 people we had to accidents. One guy flopped the ATV going up a hill and it rolled back on him and his wife. The other flipped it going down a hill. The both had injuries that included cuts and casts. After the accident, one couple was also charged $75 extra for a broken headlight and bracket. So take it easy, but don't go crazy.
Marlin fishing. Fun, early, and a long day. Don't party all night and go Marlin fishing. I have seen too many people "chumming" for fish after a late night. Bring food and drink, and a jacket. It's cold the first few hours and the wing chill will get you.
The first year we caught a jack and a yellow-tail tuna after we gave up on no marlin strikes. The 2nd year was zero, nothing, nada. We took the Yellow tail to the Finnesterra Pool Kitchen and for $20 made a huge plate of sushi (with a spicy twist) and deep fried the rest. That sushi was the best we every had. So, I'm determined to go out again.
If you snorkel, all beaches are public even in front of the biggest hotels (ask to use the beach access). Just don't use the hotel seating. We went down by the One and Only Pamilla and found a nice little reef with lots of fish and hardly a soul around.
Anyway, Were going back again this June, same hotel. It'll be fun.
