Due to a labor strike, our five diamond resort in San Jose canceled our reservation 14 hours before departure. Yikes! We found Los Patios Hotel within two hours and were ready for adventure. We were anxious but were delightfully surprised with the hotel from the moment we entered the lobby. Staff was friendly and courteous, food delicious (outstanding authentic Mexican Sunday buffet) and clean generally all over. Courtyard is charming and where we gathered each evening for cards. Jesus provided great music on the weekends and added another element of authenticity. Front desk also served as efficient concierge. Free computer usage at front desk. Yes, the pool is cold, especially after baking in the sun, but was refreshing and enjoyable after a minute. Great location. Ten to 15 minute walk either way to Costco or Walmart. Local bus easy to catch and only 70 cents to marina. We had an experience we would have otherwise never imagined or enjoyed because of what began as a disaster. The second week we were at a $549 per night five diamond resort and yet remembered fondly our slice of Mexico at Los Patios Hotel the week before. Would go again and recommend to anyone who wants a great experience and slice of culture.

The pool is nice and the patio is a good place to eat. But this hotel is on the main highway and you will hear the traffic all the time. You will need to take a cab to go anywhere. The beach is about 2 miles away. There is NOWHERE else to eat but the hotel. The menu needs to be updated, not enough good Mexican food. The maid walked in without knocking at a REAL bad time. You are only allowed one bottle of water per room per night; don't bother asking for more, you will be charged.

Better to book closer to the beach or downtown. The shuttle service was good but the high prices for food make up for any discount in hotel room charges.

  • Liked — The shuttle service to the hotel.
  • Disliked — The prices for food at the hotel.

The hotel is cute, staff is very friendly, pool is rather nice but the Jacuzzi was not working. Now the bed, this is the hardest bed I have ever slept on. I have been a flight attendant for over 11 years and I have been to hundreds of hotels and this mattress was definately something to write about. I felt that I had to warn people
about the mattress. The location is another issue. There is NO shopping, No Beach, NO Food in walking distance. However, if you wanna just relax and don't mind driving you wont be disappointed. You get what you pay for. A cute hotel NOT A BEACH RESORT. This hotel
is definately for someone on BUSINESS with their own transportation or just looking to layout by a pretty pool.

  • Liked — I liked the cozy feel of it.
  • Disliked — Mattress and location

We were here for a family vacation in Jan/Feb,2007.It was the worst experience of our lives. We have three children and this is not the place to go.I read all of the reviews, and thought oh it can't be that bad.....boy was I wrong.First they lost our reservations, second we were to have two rooms side by side(with 5 of us)they were not side by side.Third the food was awful, the list does go on $25.00 for 4 bottled water and 4 cans of coke.Hard beds ,rude people. We were to stay there for two weeks we switched after only two nights to Tesoro.Tesoro was amazing. Please do not stay here you will be very dissapointed.
