We stayed in the 3 bedroom villa which had its own pool, hottub, patio, multiple sunning areas, and private beach access. The villa was smartly furnished and the living room had an entire wall that would open up to let the fresh air in. The villa is very private and allows constant whale watching and listening to the surf crashing onto the rocks. We had a private butler, Saib, who was superb. He daily made margaritas for our group and provided anything we wished for. One evening we had a chef cook dinner for us while we set on the patio under the stars. We were served grilled chicken, steak, lobster with several side dishes followed by 2 deserts. Saib was more attentive than any restaurant wait staff you will find. The spa services are also superb. This resort and its staff are as good as I have experienced. If your want a family vacation that is private, luxurious, and pampered, the 3 bedroom villa is what you want.

My husband and I just got back from Esperanza and loved it! The rooms are excellent and the service is first class! We recently stayed at the Four Seasons in Maui and both agreed that Esperanza was much better in every way. The food and drinks are excellent. The property is beautiful and the rooms are very nice with great amenities including four season's style bedding. It is true that they don't have a bus to take you to Cabo but they do provide rental cars at the property that are reasonably priced.

We stayed at Esperanza during a very slow time when the hotel was being refurbished. We stayed at a friends residence on the lower section of the resort right above the lower pool. Each and every room looked directly at the Sea of Cortez. The two master bedroom residence had a full kitchen, dining room both indoor and outdoor and a huge living area both indoor and outdoor. The food was to wonderful but the $5.00 for a bottle of water got old quick. Since we were staying for an entire week, we went shopping for groceries and a case of water. The staff to guest ratio was 5 to 1, they were right there when you needed them..
I hope to go back again ASAP!!!!!!!!

Esperanza is a beautiful resort. The Spa is fantastic, the rooms spacious, the food excellent and the service top notch. I have traveled extensively around the world and would consider myself a snob about luxury... Esperanza exceeded my expectations. It is exclusive, intimate, quiet and very private.

Now the bad part... I did not consider it a good value at all. The prices were astronomical. We spent approximately $7,500 - $8,000 on a four night get away. I felt as if I were being $200 to death. Massages and facials are fantastic but they run $200+ each. It was nice to have a little convertible car one day, but it cost $200+. Dinner for two was... you are catching on, $200+. It is very confusing that they claim that gratuity is included (and it is, 15% on virtually everything from a glass of wine to a tooth brush in the gift shop) but the money must not get to the employees because everyone that I came in contact with still expected to be tipped. I love tipping well... but include it or don't inlcude it... not both. Also, the bottled water is free in your room or pool side, but it costs $8.50 per bottle at breakfast??? Best idea... give yourself a shot of Tequilla before you check your bill.

Conclusion, next time in Cobo I will try the Palmilla or Cabo del Sol.

We stayed at Esperanza in August of 2006 for our honeymoon. We were scheduled to stay for 7 nights, but had to evacuate for Hurricane John after only two nights. Although the service was lovely while were there, I feel compelled to give Esperanza an average review.

As a small, extremely expensive, luxury hotel I was dismayed that there was no follow up after our departure - no invitation to return on our anniversary - no contact at all. What a missed opportunity!

I would not expect this level of service from a global luxury hotel chain like Ritz-Carlton, but I did expect it from Esperanza.

True customer service does not end when the customer departs - it's about building relationships over time. Unfortunately, Esperanza seems to have no interest in us (or our money).

We chose a different resort in Mexico for our first anniversary trip - or as we called it, our second honeymoon. Honeymoon number three is still in the works . . .
