“Paradise worth every peny”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2012

We staied at Edperanza for five days in January. The hotel is beautiful, the view amazing, the room very comfortable And the service great. The food is not too good, but it's ok. Must go to Edith's, a Mexican restaurant. Increadible.
The woman concierge didn't know how to indicated things to do very well, but Fernando, the other concierge is great, he knows everything and gave very good tips.

The resort treats you very well, with bottle of champagne and chocolate truffles, and cute litlle local arts on your pillow every night.

The spa is very expansive. Not worth going.

The swimming poll is amazing. Beautiful. The beach rocky, not to swim.

We loved and will recommend for sure.

The Esperanza resort, just at the point of Baja California Sur, is right on the coast of the Sea of Cortés, with great views of the water, access to coves with small beaches, waves spraying over rocks out in the water, whales and dolphin, now and again: Perfect! Beyond the setting, there are several beautiful swimming pools (only one is reserved for adults...the rest are kid-friendly, but the pools are so well arranged that kids are easily accommodated along with adults. In fact, I was especially impressed with the treatment of children in the restaurants, where they serve kids quickly from a special menu.) The food and service are wonderful, and for me, the gorgeous gardens were an added luxury: perfectly arranged and tended, with palms, blooming cacti, hibiscus, and many other blooming plants and trees. This is a very luxurious resort (read: expensive) but a great value if you're willing and able to splurge.

Our family traveled to Esperanza for the Christmas Holiday. We stayed in a 3bed/3 bath Villa. The reviews and official website did not truly represent the actual Esperanza Resort experience, by any means. I am not rating the scenery or the architectural genius of this destination because that is outstanding. However, I wish my family and I knew what a MISS this was before arriving and losing sleep, feeling sick due to allergens in the air conditioning vents/rooms, and wasting thousands upon thousands of dollars. We left early because the experience was so DISMAL and misrepresented.

The concierge sucked. There is a disconnect between the concierge and the rest of the employees. Talk about Terrible!! The beds are extremely painful to sleep in and the service was bad. They weren't even ready for our arrival and brought part of my family to the wrong villa of which another family was already staying in!! That could have been a colossal disaster.

They told us we had an ocean view when we booked the villa and that was a lie! How disappointing. We will NOT be going back. Consider yourself warned.

Room Tip: stay in the hotel and get separate rooms if you have a large party - do not be mislead into booking...

If you are looking to totally relax in a casually elegant environment where you can be pampered with exceptional service, great views, and lovely food, you need to stay at Esperanza in Cabo. While the rooms are a bit pricey, they are extremely well done, with amazing views where you can whale watch from your bed if you like. Just when you think you may need a refreshing beverage while laying at the beach or the pool, a waiter arrives to ask what you would like. It is a completely relaxing and casual environment where you can leave your fancy attire home but enjoy an elegant and casual evening at the best restaurant on the property, overlooking the crashing waves lit up by the moon. You can go into Cabo or visit San Jose del Cabo, but then again, you can just enjoy the serenity of this lovely place without ever leaving it.

Room Tip: Room 65 is perfect.

Recent reviewers have catalogued the major strengths and weaknesses of this resort, and I agree with all of them. Our stay was for a week in the villas. We had a 2br/2bath villa that was finely furnished with a nice ocean view (over the tops of - and between- neighboring buildings. The facilities and amenities are immaculate and "top tier." Several infinity pools with swim up bars, bar-b-que areas, and lush open greens with spectacular sunrise and sunset views, fitness center, entertainment center, small market for sundries and a helpful concierge station. Plenty of staff, all very friendly and accommodating.

Where they miss the mark is in the details - e.g. coffee maker with a broken switch, cracked coffee mugs, insufficient table ware for guests (only two spoons), two robes for 4 people, broken computer system unable to print boarding passes, intermittent in-room wi-fi, poor reception on bedroom tv, loud a/c, termite residue dropping from ceiling beams.

And of course the prices are exorbitant. Everything is priced in U.S. dollars and is double what you would pay anywhere else. Lunch at the pool was $100 for quesadillas, cheeseburger, fries and a salad with two drinks. The cuisine is elegant and food quality is good/excellent, but the same could be had elsewhere in Cabo for half the price.

Overall, the resort ranks clearly as one of the best in the Cabo area and it's reputation alone may be sufficient to offset these minor blemishes. But with a little attention to detail and a more reasonable pricing policy Esperanza would gain that 5th star in my book.

I loved the hotel. loved my "palpata suite" I believe thats what is was called. Room 30 was amazing private jacuzzi on balconey. Breakfast and mexican night were to die for. The spa was expensive and I did not get the massage i was looking for as I had a blazing headache and the therapist massaged my feet for 45 mins as I was begging her to please do my head. And at dinner we waited 45 mins for our water to be refilled i finally got up and did it myself. The hotel itself is 5 star rooms 5 star. Showers and bed were great. If you are going the not leave your room and spend time with each your loved one and spend time outside the resort golf fishing etc . and want to be ultimately relaxed this is your place
