“The best food I had while in Cabo San Lucas. Highly recommended.”
The food and the service were excellent! The owner and the chef are a married Italian couple, and the food they make is REAL Italian food. I ordered a ravioli dish which featured home-made stuffed ravioli, freshly grated Parmesan cheese, a delicious white sauce topped with freshly grated nutmeg. It was perfect! Everything was fresh, home-made, and delicious! My meal came with almond bread (never had it before), and that was amazing.
I've tried other "Italian" restaurants in Cabo San Lucas, but El Velero is the real deal. I honestly can say that I wish I had visited El Velero when I first arrived because I would've eaten there more often during my stay. The food is professional with good-sized portions.
The service was icing on the cake. The owners were very polite and friendly. I had a great time getting to know them. The chef came out personally to ask how I enjoyed the meal (the other restaurants never did that). Like I said, both are from Italy and you could tell by how good the food was there. El Velero is a restaurant I would recommend to any friend visiting Cabo San Lucas. I would definitely eat here again if I come back to Cabo.
I did get a little lost finding the restaurant. The best way to get to El Velero is to go South on Blvd. Paseo de La Marina. It's going to be on the right-hand side of the road just a couple dozen yards before you reach Hidalgo street. There's no street sign that sticks out over the sidewalk, so just look to the right when you're getting close so you won't miss it.
Finally, just as my own opinion about the previous review that gave it two stars:
1) Meat, when professionally done, does have some red color, especially near the bone.
2) For appearance, it's common to see some cheese baked around food on a plate. The almond bread that came with my meal had cheese baked on the plate around it. I could scoop up cheese with my almond bread as I ate, which made for a very tasty combination.
3) This is a fine-dining restaurant. The chef designs the meal for taste, texture, appearance, etc. Asking for "more sauce" on your lasagne, in my opinion, is ridiculous. If the lasagne needed more sauce originally, the chef would have made it that way. Trust me, you want to taste the fresh noodles and fine, subtle flavors the chef adds to the meal. Don't smother the flavors with extra red sauce.

Thank you very much for you review , and especially for the time lost in our "defense" of a review written by friends of restaurants competing ... Well if these guys come back we have the solution for lasagna without cheese "burned" is simple we will use lasagna Costco or Walmart microwave 2 minutes you're done and we will make the ribs of coal ... But this is not our style and we never will. Again thank you very much!!
