We have stayed at several places in Cabo and the Playa Grande is our absolute favorite. We have been to many resorts across Mexico and Hawaii, the Playa Grande is the place we return to. The rooms are spacious, very clean and luxurious with huge marble bathrooms, marble kitchen and king sized beds. The bathroom has a hair dryer, lighted makeup mirror and a monsterous jacuzzi tub. Even the junior suite (studio) has a full sized kitchen. The one bedroom units have two bathrooms. The whole resort is clean, there seems to be someone sweeping or scrubbing the walkways everyday. The staff is friendly and informative, they told us the best places to eat.
The Brigantine Restaurant at the resort has excellent food and romantic ambiance, like most of Cabo it is expensive. The grounds are luxurious with beautiful landscaping. The resort is set on the Pacific side and is quiet at night. It is a short 10 to 15 min walk in to town.
The pools are warm and relaxing with lots of room for everyone, and no chlorine smell. If you want a poolside chair you have to put your towel out early. There are two hot tubs that are huge, there is nothing like soaking in the hot tub at sunset and watching the stars come out. The beach is huge and deserted, with no vendors allowed, but no swimming allowed either due to the undertow.
Our favorite restaurant in Cabo is the Galeon, it is at the bottom of the hill going to the Playa Grande, ask for the Mexican coffee it’s quite a show.
Watching the sunset at Da Giorgio’s Restaurant on the cliffs just outside of town is breathtaking and a must do. Wandering and shopping at night is fun and generally safe but be aware. If there is a cruise ship in town you’ll pay more during the day. The Giggling Marlin has a floor show that is an absolute must see. It’s a little risqué (o.k. a lot risqué) but hilarious, watch out for the tequila man if he puts a hat on your head he’ll expect you to drink a shot. Walking is the best way to get around Cabo, but leave your roller blades at home because the sidewalk is uneven with lots of step-ups and step-downs. Taxis are numerous but make sure you agree on a price before you get in. The golfing around Cabo is phenomenal but very expensive.
I can’t wait to go back to the Playa Grande.
