“Awesome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

We stayed for a week in a 1 bedroom. Very nice resort and very nice staff. We enjoyed meeting other guests at the resort. Food in Cabo is UNBELIEVABLE! We purchased eggs, bread, and bottled water and had breakfast 5 of 7 days in the hotel. We would have a snack by the pool and then walk to the marina for dinner. Again the food was AWESOME! Everything we had was good. We choose to sit near the beach vs the pool so we could watch the whales, dolphins, fishing boats etc. It was very relaxing and found the staff very accomodating. We went to the time share presentation to get a discount on fishing. Learned our lesson there and found out you need to see the boats before you book it. We also went whale watching and that was great too! We were told the weather was very abnormal - had 4 cloudy days. But it was warm and we enjoyed our time and the new friends we met! We found everyone to accept US dollars in all denominations under $100. A couple of times we were given pesos as change. We do not have a time share here, but we will be back! We enjoyed the resort, the staff and the food. We had the brunch one morning at the resort and the hashbrowns are unforgetable as well as the french toast! We have been promoting Cabo and the resort since we got back!

Remember this review is only for the Ridge hotel part of the resort. We were there on a Developers week from buying a Master Suite in the original Playa Grande. We had a Penthouse unit. We specifically requested a unit not on the Ridge as we had owned a unit there and got rid of it after two nights stay. For a Developers week they put you in one of the units on the "hotel" part of the resort not on the "owners" part. These units are apparently all on the Ridge because no one wants them. They all look out on the Marina. You can see a little of the ocean but no whales. No surf sound. Only the sound of buses and trucks starting at 5:30 in the morning and continuing until about 10 Pm. Then there is the sound of the exhaust fan from the restaurant just below your balcony which is almost a siren when the restaurant is in operation. Too noisy to use the balcony. I complained but they didn't have a unit to move us to. Beware of booking a hotel unit there.

The resort part off the ridge is fantastic. We love watching the ocean and whales. We have owned there since 2001. Banked our Master Suite to stay in the Penthouse. What a mistake.

Resort exceptional, service impeccable, food wonderful, pools and beaches awesome, room was terrific. I have nothing bad to say about this trip. Inclusive was a deal at $75/day and the entertainment was so much fun - I've never danced on a beach in the sand by a fire pit to a live rock and roll band - truly had fun.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the pools and the beach on the Pacific Side. Or, ask for a room overlook...

A week spent at this lovely hotel just sped by. While Playa Grande deserves many accolades, the best part is the staff. It seems like their main reason for being there is simply to make one feel special! I look forward to going back next year...and I do not own a timeshare.

Stayed here three nights on a company retreat. Our room was very spacious with a garden/pool view out to the ocean beyond. Bed was great. Didn't utilize the hotel restaurants at all, but enjoyed the pools/hot tubs. Unfortunately the beaches at the resort, while nice, were not conducive to swimming. Like most places in town, they offer a time-share pitch, but after being made aware of it at check-in they leave you alone. It's a 5-10 minute walk to the marina & cruise ship dock, which means you have to walk past all the hucksters trying to sell you excursions whenever you go into town.

Room Tip: Our room on the fifth floor on the west side offered a fantastic view of the sunrise (see picture)

We have came here for the last 10+ yrs. Always relaxing, close to town, excellent service, beautiful pools, private beaches, lots of activities, great bartenders, wonderful maids, lots of sun, private verandas, not too crowded, walk areas, great restaurants close by, welcoming staff, not much turn over in staff so we see the same fabulous staff every year, always smiling and a friendly hola!

This is a great resort, with great amenities. We have been going for 11 years and after this many years it still looks fabulous, with a great staff. I have two negative comments (minor). They have a coffee bar that needs to be serviced by two, not one person. Coffee/Espresso in the AM is a must and the process can be slow. Plan on a 10 to 15 minute wait at times. The pools seem to require a little more water and could be a little cleaner. Just an observation that they did not seems as crisp and clear as prior years. These comments are meant more for the organization to pay attention to and not to dissuade anyone from going there as this really is a first class resort.
