“Nice, Clean, long walks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2013

We stayed at the Playa Grande in January 2013. The facilities and accommodations were pretty much exactly as advertised, with a couple of pleasant surprises (e.g. the hot tubs are huge, the units were well appointed with great daily maid service). We had stayed here this time because we wanted to be closer to CSL for the nightlife than the last time we came when we stayed on the corridor (Sheraton's Hacienda del Mar).

One thing you might want to realize when you book this is how big the Marina actually is, and the long sloping driveway (really long - 5-10 minute walk). While PG is definitely walkable to most destinations, you're definitely in for some real exercise. Walking one afternoon from Medano beach back to the hotel involved at least two refreshment pitstops. ;)

Also, and this will be more or less important to different people - the wifi is definitely spotty. We bought the week for $45, and it was ok, but lots of dropped and slow connections in the room. if you rely on fast wifi you'll want to think about what to do for plan B on certain occasions.

Overall I would say PG was "as advertised."

We just returned from staying at the Playa Grande in Cabo. Check in was easy and no one hounded us about buying a time share, which was nice! We went to our room which was on the ground floor with absolutely no view of anything. We returned to the desk and after a little bit of negotiating we were given a wonderful room in the P building on the 2nd floor 2252. Rooms have a fully equiped kithchen, family room with sofa bed, 2 balconies although one was too small to sit on comfortably(only drawback balconey is right next to the rooms next to you so no privacey when you are sitting out there), murphy bed in the wall, 2 baths and a nice size bedroom. Love having 2 bathrooms. Rooms were very clean.Service is great! We were by the pool every day and the wait staff got better and better. Only ate breakfast at restaurant by pool and food was great .We had lunch at pool every day and no one in our group had one complaint. Drinks were great and the happy hour specials a bonus!! Love this resort and feel it is great for families. If we have the opportunity to return to Cabo I might want to try another resort catering more to couples but in this area because the location is superb.

My husband and I bought a time share at Playa Grande in 2001. We have returned each year to Playa Grande for our vacation. We just returned home and are so disappointed with how the management has changed the resort. We always enjoyed going for the beautiful beach and the quiet relaxation. We feel the resort has now become a theme resort. There was a theme dinner almost every night....Fiestas night, Beach party, Italian night, and Sushi night. The most difficult event was Saturday night. A wedding party(they were not even guests at the resort) took over the resort with blaring music and noise that went into the late hours. These events were all held outside Building P where we are owners. They would start setting up at 6:30AM in the morning and be tearing it down sometime after midnight. This resort now has a Club Med atmospere, which is not what we originally purchased.
We bought at Playa Grande for the relaxation and quiet, but that is not what the resort offers now. We have talked with many other owners who are equally dissatisfied.
We miss the tranquility of the Playa Grande we used to love!
P.S. We had minimal hot water!

Room Tip: Building A and P are right on the beach. Rooms up on the Ridge can be facing the noisy road.

Georgeous views from this resort, lots of pools and a slide, as well as several restaurants including a sushi restaurant and a Brigantine. However, it's located at the end of Cabo by the Marina, on the dangerous Pacific Ocean side and although the resort is on the Ocean, dangerous rip tides prevent you from swimming in it and signs are posted to the effect. In order to swim in the ocean you will have to take a taxi or rent a boat. The food was quite pricey and since we would have had to take a cab for 8 into a more "locals" area of town for each meal, we realized at our first meal that it was adventageous for us to buy the All-Inclusive Meal Plan, which wasn't cheap, but included drinks and all you can eat.

We just returned from Cabo this last weekend. We go to Cabo yearly and Playa Grande continues to be our favorite place to stay. The location can't be beat, with access to both the Pacific Ocean, and the Marina a short walk away. The staff on site is wonderful! We especially love interacting with the activities team - from Roberto entertaining us in the evening events, to Hector, Rodrigo and Mayrobi who were fabulous during the day for volleyball, poolside games, water exercise, etc. Thank you all for another fabulous year of Cabo memories!

Room Tip: We like to select the first floor, with a slider right out to the pool. There weren't any avail...

My wife and I just got back from spending a few days at Playa Grande and we had a wonderful and relaxing time there. The resort is absolutely beautiful and we liked that almost all the rooms had a view of the ocean and the pool. Our room was really spacious and clean and the bed was very comfortable. The pools were really nice and my wife loved her massage that she got at the Spa. We also felt that the Spa prices were pretty good for a resort. We will definitely be coming back.

The food was also very good but we were a little frustrated that the food was different as you went from one restaurant to another one. For instance, the first night we were there, one of our friends ordered some chicken nachos from the pool wait staff and they looked incredible. So my wife and I went to the out door restaurant by the upper pool with the grass roof bar, and we got the menu and the nachos were just regular and they didn't even have chicken or beef nachos. We thought that since both of the restaurants/pool wait staff was outside by the pool that they would be serving the same foods, but they didn't. Even the Quesadilla's were different between the two. Overall, the food was very good.
