We traded in for a week in Los Cabos. The resort is located on the Pacific side of Cabo San Lucas, about 15 minutes from the Marina and downtown. This makes for a relaxed atmosphere as the entrance is gated and there is no one around except the guests and the resort staff.

As others have noted, the resort is built on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean and unless one desires some walking or jogging exercise, the ubiquitous golf carts used by the resort are the first choice for traveling between the lobby area and the main pool.

We were assigned a room in Villa 26, which was half way on the cliff between the Main Lobby and the Main Pool. I asked for a different location that did not involve stair climbing and was quickly assigned a room in Villa 17 (Santa Catalina) on the first floor overlooking the pool area. Villa 17 also has an elevator and is few steps from the Main Lobby area with the two restaurants, The Bistro, an informal dinning arrangement and La Frida, a more formal dining room.

Villa Santa Catalina was an excellent location and with the one bedroom accommodation was a perfect base for the week. An almost full kitchen along with two bathrooms and a large patio overlooking the pool made for a comfortable and relaxing place to stay. The furnishings were well done and quite comfortable. Each bath had a separate large shower and the main has a bath as well.

We took the free bus to Pueblo Bonito Rose’ on Medano Beach near the Marina and enjoyed the ability to use their facility. The walk to the main area of Cabo San Lucas is not the prettiest but it is acceptably close.

Since the Sunset Beach location requires your own car or use of the free bus to town, this location is best for those who prefer a relaxing and if desired, an isolated vacation. We did rent a car through Avis at the airport (they have a desk in the main lobby if you wish to wait until you get to the hotel) and found it handy for quick shopping or sight seeing. You can park yourself or use valet parking.

I recommend this location highly but only rate it a 4.5 because of the need for transport to town. The staff was superb and were some of the best I have ever dealt with at any resort. If you wish to stay there all the time and minimum need for a trip to downtown, it’s a 5.

First trip to Cabo, second trip to Mexico. This was a trip arranged by friends for deep sea fishing. The guys were looking to fish for Yellow Fin Tuna etc. The wives tagged along and picked among the resorts suggested by a travel agent. The Pueblo Bonita has several hotels, the Sunset is the more secluded. Quieter, but on the Pacific. No swimming, due to dangerous surf.
The lobby of the hotel wasn't as impressive as those hotels and resorts we stopped at along the way (we had a bus transfer from the airport). The front desk check in took almost two hours. They had two young men working the desk and did end up adding a third. We had five rooms reserved, confirmed and paid in full. They were all to be non-smoking, junior suites with ocean
views. Two rooms were to be adjoining, or next to each other due to our teenage daughters traveling with us and rooming together. At the desk they told us they were over booked, and that we would need to upgrade (pay more) for a nicer suite that was available, non-smoking rooms, and the one adjoining room. We argued, and stood our ground. Other parties checking in next us paid extra to get the accomodations they had original reserved Scam? After approval from a manager that never appeared, but was consulted with frequenty on the phone or by the desk cleark going into the back room, we did receive five rooms. These rooms were located in different locations around the hotel. They did give us the adjoining room for the teenagers, except in wasn't adjoining it was a second floor room, located above our first floor room. These two rooms were at the lowest level of the resort, on the beach. Because the resort is built on a mountain at different levels they use golf carts to transport guests around. It starts to feel like a hassle to get from one place to another. Walking would be a nice option except from where we were (at the bottom) it was a long and steep hike. Also the paths are narrow and golf carts wizz by. We heard of several people getting hit by carts while they were walking. No one tips the cart drivers, except at check in and out (they load and unload your luggage at these times). The rooms themselves are VERY nice. Large, spacious, clean. The beds are comfortable, and the water pressure in the shower (large enough for two) is excellent. There are very few TV stations available, but that was fine. Vacation is not for TV viewing! (We never tunred in on). The other rooms in our building were full and we could hear showers turning on every morning as well as our teenagers walking on the floor over our heads. The carts coming to drop off or pick up other guests could also be heard. The carts are also gas powered, and the fumes get to you while riding in them. The staff was attentive and friendly. The resort pools were all nice, and located at various levels. The resturants at the resort are all pricey, and none of them served an excellent meal. They were all average. The best meal we had was in town at the Mango Deck. This open air bar is on the beach (Sea of Cortez) and was popular. The food was good, and it was affordable. Taxi drivers all charge different rates, and it's per person. On our trips to town we paid $10, $12, $18, and $24 each way. Some of the drivers go incrediably fast, and do not have working seat belts.

We had originally booked into PB Pacifica, but they must have overbooked. When we arrived after travelling for about 10 hours (stopovers, flight & shuttle delays), the last thing we wanted to hear was they didn't have a room for us. I showed them our confirmation, which they acknowledge was valid - but no room. At this time, we hadn't eaten for about 8 hours and weren't in the best frame of mind. They offered to put us up at PB Sunset Beach, their neighboring resort. We went over, dumped our bags in our room, and went to eat - didn't even look at the room.
When we arrived back at the room, it was about 11pm and we just crashed. We decided that we weren't going to make any judgements about the resort until we had a good night's sleep.
We didn't realize until the next morning the room they put us up in. It was fantastic, with a large balcony with private jacuzzi tub and awesome ocean views.
We had the best week of vacation ever! Despite the "rough" start, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the ammenities were second to none, and the spa was fantastic. The concierge staff were very helpful in booking excursions. All three restaurants have el fresco dining with breath-taking ocean views, and the food was very good. We often went for walks or runs on the beach, and were not tempted to go into the ocean (not permitted) with the five great pools they supplied.
We did go to the time share presentation, and had a delightful time with Susan our presenter. Of course, they gave a strong push at the end, but nothing rude or unmannerly.
Overall, I would highly recommend this resort.

We recently stayed at the Monte Cristo Estates at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset. The view from our villa was just breathtaking. We had plenty space for our four teenagers. The bus to shuttle us to the resort was prompt and arrived every half hour. What more can you ask for. The drivers were always courteous and we felt like we knew them by mid week. Many days, a group of us, including our teenage girls would walk down to the resort. It was an easy 20 minute walk downhill with breathtaking views in front of us. We even saw whales.

The customer service at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset was 5 star. Never did we want for anything and everyone was wonderful at providing helpful information. The timeshare experience was great. We were only asked once and had a spectacular free breakfast, learned about the entire resort and listened to the sales pitch. We were provided with resort money to spend fo the week. At no time did we feel pressured.

The pools at the resort were beyond our expectation. Our teens loved the freedom of navigating the resort. On a couple occasions we traveled to the Bonito Rose and Pacifica. Again, the service was 5 star. The golf carts were always available when needed, however we did prefer to walk alot.

Our familiy is already planning our return to the Pueblo Bonito. We are encouraging other families to join us. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo Estates.

Me, my husband, son and family friends recently returned from a stay at Pueblo Bonito Sunset. It is a quiet lovely reasort tucked into the hills overlooking the Pacific ocean. Everything everyone says about the hotel is true, including the time-share people. We got very used to saying no. We stayed in a Presidential Suite, which had 2 bedrooms, 2 baths, kitchen, living room and a patio with a jacuzzi hot tub and incredible view of the ocean! The decor was beautiful, and 7 of us slept very comfortably there.
While it was away from the downtown part of the city, you could take the free shuttle or cab very easily; which we did. When we return to Cabo, we may consider staying somewhere closer, except for one thing that the Pueblo Bonito Sunset has, that no other hotel may have: Dr Edguardo!
You see, my husband developed conjunctivitis (pink eye) in both eyes the second day of our stay. It was very bad and very uncomfortable. What the Pueblo Bonito has, is an on-site medical clinic. What a life saver! We called the concierge and they sent Dr. Edguardo to our room for a house call. You can't even get that in the states. He wrote my husband a prescription and then called the concierge to have it delivered to our room. My husband never even had to leave the room, and began his treatment right away. We are grateful that we did not have to venture into the town to figure out how to get my husband cared for and prescriptions filled. Thanks to this service, we didn't have our vacation ruined, and he was ready to play in two days.

For a first time to Cabo, I would highly recommend this hotel.
