I read many reviews on different lodgings and hotels in Cabo before deciding on this Pueblo Bonito Sunset. I made a great choice. We stayed in Maui last March at the Grand Wailea, which is a 5 star resort and very expensive. It is was wonderful but the Sunset, in my opinion, was just as great. The Sunset is much smaller but has everything we wanted. If you go you will see that it was correctly named. We watched the sunset most days in the jacuzzi in a pool right outside our villa or up in the sky pool that has just opened. It is literally on top of the whole property. This resort is wonderfully maintained and absolutely beautiful! It is all hills but they cart you around like royalty. We walked quite a bit but it would be great for someone who does have a problem walking. The carts are accessible 24 hours and we never had to wait over a few minutes. I cannot say enough about the service and the facility. It has some of the most beautiful art I have ever seen at a resort. The chapel will take your breath away! You also have two other properties that are at your disposal. The Pueblo Bonito Rose (it has a swimmable beach) and the Pacifica. The Rose is the oldest of the 3 properties. It has still been well maintained. The Pacifica is brand new and wonderful---it is all adults and is a holistic retreat. It was beautiful. You may take a shuttle from one property to the other from (I think) 10 to 10. There are many great places to stay in Cabo. We enjoyed our vacation there very much--NWT

  • Liked — The facilty as a whole was wonderful--much better than I anticipated.
  • Disliked — The whole property is set on a hillside--but they cart you everywhere (if you would like).

This place is simply amazing. My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights last week and loved it. The place is just absolutely incredibly beautiful. This time of year, whales were breaching in the ocean clearly visible from the hotel. All rooms have incredible views.

No doubt, you've read about the timeshare sales effort they will put on you. We rec'd $300 in credits to use towards food, drink and the spa for attending. We were seriously tempted, but didn't buy. It was worth the time to take the tour and see how they are building out the place.

The spa was very nice - first class. We had a couples massage which was great. The facilities there are clean, well attended, and very soothing. Again, it is full price - what you'd pay in the states. This is a little annoying to me since you know the cost is much, much lower in Mexico.

The pictures just don't do this place justice. It really is indescribably beautiful. We've travelled all over Mexico, and there is no destination that can top Sunset Beach. It is even more incredible than top places in Maui. Naturally, Mexico as a whole doesn't compare to Maui, so don't miss a trip to Maui.

The rooms were clean and our King size bed was very, very comfortable. We tipped the maids $5 each day and the room was spotless with towels folded into swans and other nice touches.

The biggest disad to Sunset Beach is that it is a good distance from Cabo - this is good and bad. Sunset Beach is quiet and very relaxing. If you like quiet, this is the place. We like a bit of the nightlife too, so spent evenings at Cabo Wabo. Their house band is awesome. Cathc the early show from about 8:00 to 9:00 outside. They put on a great acoustic show before they go inside for the main show. We watched the early show and then taxied back to the hotel. Taxi to/from town is about $10/$12 each way. You can also take the free shuttle from Sunset Beach to Pueblo Bonito Rose which is walking distance to town and the marina.

Slight disad - hotel resturants left me unimpressed, but it was really because the prices were out of line. For the money, the food just wasn't that great. Go to town and hit The Office on the beach - that place was great.

Overall, I would recommend this place w/o reservation. We booked through [--] who had the best price at the time.

Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach completely exceeded my expectations. The photos on the website simply do not do it justice; when you are there in the moment, it is so breathtakingly beautiful that you can hardly believe it's real. The restaurants are exceptional. The Pacific views are outstanding. The clientele is more refined than at your typical Cabo resort. I didn't have time to experience all of the food options or the spa, but I highly recommend the sushi room service - what better way to enjoy the sunset than with some very high-quality sushi and a nice drink. The swimming pools (4 of them, actually) are lovely and not crowded. A lot of the resorts in Cabo cater to the "spring break" crowd - people who are looking to party and get wild. This resort is quite the opposite. It's very family-friendly, and perfect for anyone who's just looking to breathe and relax.

My one caution is to be on the lookout for time-share salespeople offering informational breakfasts and tours. We were approached several times during the two days, although they weren't pushy or rude.

The harrassment started at the airport and continued for three days until we gave in and went to the "sales pitch" to purchase a time share at this property. They have representatives at the airport that wanted $20 to sign you up at the hotel for a presentation and upon arriving at the hotel, we were attacked to take the presentation. We received three phone calls one day, waking us up and interrupting us asking if and when we planned to go on the tour. Not a very pleasant way to start a vacation. Not five star resort treatment---your comfort and needs were the last thing on their mind.
The hotel is a huge project still under construction. The golf carts may sound "cute" but in fact they are a hazard. There are no walking trails so you are competing with the golf carts for space to walk from your room to the lobby, restuarants, etc. and a few times we were almost run over. They are so noisy we could not leave our door open and enjoy the fresh air----one of the reasons we were looking forward to going to Cabo. Warm weather and fresh air instead of having to keep your door closed with an air conditioner that sounded like a 767 airplane starting up.
There were three pools but the main pool by the beach was so crowded that you had to go out by 9 a.m. and save a chair or you would not have a place to sit. Several arguments were happening because people would leave a magazine on a chair for 3-4 hours and wanted to save a chair. There were only a few chairs on the beach and they were always taken. Once again, not relaxing and pleasant. But you could not stay in the chairs for very long as they were so uncomfortable. They were hard plastic with no cushions.
They had a shuttle from the Sunset to their sister hotel in town but it was a 15 minute walk from that hotel to the Marina and main part of town. We were forced to take taxis back and forth from town most of the time because they will not let you bring groceries or other purchases on the bus. They do not allow groceries, suitcases, etc. on the bus so if you go to town and do any shopping, you are forced to take a taxi back to the hotel for $15.
The hotel property has some beautiful landscaping and for some it might be a pleasant experience but it is not a five star hotel property.
The lack of hospitality, friendliness and general peacefulness are reasons alone to choose another hotel. Their insistence on selling time share overshadowed anything pleasant about this resort.
We would never stay here again.

Very beautiful property. The views are incredible! Our room was clean, I would suggest putting your 'do not disturb' sign out. The cleaning service will wake you up fairly early. Food and restaurants excellent. Pools (4) and pool service very good. The spa is beautiful, a bit expensive. Because this is a time-share resort-you can be disturbed in the spa area with sales people showing the areas. Not a great big deal but can interrupt the mood. The resort is built on a mountianside so cart service is available throughout. Carts can be loud. Overall, it is beautiful. A skypool just opened the week we arrived. It is located at the top of the mountianside. Absolutely breathless views. We will return.
