This is a fantastic hotel run by a very attentive staff. This was our first time to stay in such a large hotel and were a little worried. We did not need to worry. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive,
Our room was very large. 2 large bathrooms with very large showers built for tall people. Large bedroom with 2 queen beds, a TV in both the living room and bedroom. Tile floors and granite countertops. Large refrig and Microwave. Patio deck overlooking the ocean and pools.
It is built on the side of a hill but one never has to walk anywhere. Just walk out onto one of the paths and a cart will be by within 1 to 5 minutes. Threre is one main pool and bar down by the beach and a number of smaller pool areas scattered around the large grounds. The water is clean without too much clorine and the pools are large and numerous enough that they are not crowded even with the 90+ temps.
The beach is very nice and they have a volleyball court and the Activities center organizes games on it each day. They have a very varied set of organized activities mostly free that one can join in on. (pottery, language class, various games and sports)
There is no swimming or snorkling in the ocean. Being an experienced diver I had planned on trying it anyway but after seeing the waves that break right on the beach, I decided that it was not worth it.
It is quite a ways out of Cabo San Lucas but they have a bus that runs every hour that takes you to the Pueblo Bonita Rose which is only a 5 or 10 minute walk to downtown. We also once took a hike into town once. Out a small gate, through the desert to the housing area, up over the hill and down to town. 45 minutes. Why? Just because!
On the last 2 days, we rented a car at the hotel Avis counter ($71 per day) and drove to Todos Santos and went snorkling on the beaches noth of Cabo. We droped the car at the airport and that saved us $34. By the way, you can prearrange for the $17/person shuttle on arrival. If you do, be sure to read the instructions on how to meet the shuttle OUTSIDE. Ignore all of the timeshare sharks waiting in the airport lobby.
Some reviews mention problems with timeshare pitches at the hotel. I also saw some of that but I just said "I am definately NOT interested in a timeshare" as soon as I realized I was being solicited (sometimes it is not immediately obvious) And after Tuesday, there was no more of it. (Almost everyone arrives on Monday)
Finally, the food! The first 2 nights we had the buffet at La Noa. It was very good. The 3rd night we ate in town at the "Trailer Park" (4 lb lobster for 2). Then we ate at Frieda's! Wonderful food and exceptional service, We ate there every night after that.
My favorite was Chili and PorkLoin. And the prices were not unreasonable. $30 to $40 for entrees which is about the same as in town. Cabo is NOT a cheap place to eat. .
I hope this review was helpful. I very much recommend this hotel.
