WOWZERS!! Only way to put it!! Best trip ever!! This hotel was sooo clean and the rooms are beautiful. Ours was at the top so we had a spectacular view!! I didn't even want to leave because i loved this trip sooooooooooo mucho. The staff were so cool and nice and they let you do what you want, except the ones by the pool were a little stricker. I like mexico more than the caribbean because the people are nicer. This hotel was perfect for my family but if your family is on the heavier side, it could be problamatic, JKJKJK! But its a lot of walking, so if your impatient for like 5 min and have to walk you might not like it. I LOVED IT!!! The town in only 5/10 min away, so people that say its too far are just CRAZYY! The town is nice and clean with great stores and restaurants. I liked the market place because i wanted a mexican dress. You must go to El Squid Roe, best place ever for dancing and a fun time. This hotel seemed to offer something for all ages. They have a kid's club and teen games by the pool as well as pottery painting and tie dying and cooler stuff. You can't go swimming in the beach but you can't at most cabo hotels. It's really convienant that there is a sister hotel real close, 10/15 min and a shuttle. At the Los Cabos and Rose you can swim and they hav a good location. You can walk down the beach to restaurants for lunch. We went to the Los Cabos twice to the beach. The Rose was way too crowded, but its spring break. You can buy tons of stuff on the beach which is cool, and if you don't want it just say no and you'll be left alone. The two other hotels, are much older than Sunset Beach, and way not as nice. We were only asked twice (airport and when we arrived) for timeshare and we just said no and were never bothered again. I LOVED THIS TRIP AND WANT TO GO BACK AGAIN AS SOON AS I CAN!!
also: the beach is good for photos
and: it is 1 hour from the airport, just to clean that up since we heard a wide variety of answers, but its pretty and the drive seemed shorter
and: try the kayak tours, visit the arch and cabo dolphins TONS OF FUNN!!!

Our family just returned from our first trip to Mexcio, where we stayed at this resort. My husband and I are in our 30's, and we also took our teenage daughter. I had read several of the reviews before we left, and I can honestly say we enjoyed our time most when we were at the relaxing Sunset Beach and away from the hustle and bustle of town.

All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Everyone wanted to be sure we had a nice time. We were offered the "timeshare tour" when we first came, but we declined and to be honest - we were never bothered about it again. If we had more time (we were only there 4 nights) we might have considered the tour, because for 2 hours of your time they give you breakfast - and coupons off for dining and the spa. Also, you get a nice tour of the grounds and amendites which probably took us 2 hours just to find ourselves! Either way, we were just happy there was no pressure.

We did go to town one day. The hotel helped us book a snorkling trip and we had a great time. Tip - book any tours you are interested in doing your first day. They feel up fast! Any questions you have about town, the staff is eager to help you navatigate. Also, we took both a taxi one way and rode the shuttle back. Each was a fine ride, and with the help of the front staff, our taxi ride only cost us $10 for 3 people. If you want crouds, bars and shoping - than town is nice. If you enjoy walking along a more private beach, and reading a good book by the pool - than the hotel is better.

Lastly, the only part of our stay that wasn't great was the food. We loved the pool side "happy hour" from 3-5, and the chips and homemade guacomolie, but other than Freida's - the food was only so-so. We had wished we had eaten at least once at one of the resuraunts in town. Also, because the rooms come w/ a small kitchen - if you are able, I suggest stocking up on water and snacks before you arrive. They do have amenities there, but you pay much more at the resort than in town.

All in all we had a great time. I'm already missing the sound of the ocean.

Just back from Sunset Beach. Our first impression of the hotel was pretty negative. We are a family of 5 and have always requested 2 rooms and although they never guarantee we will have them side by side, hotels have almost managed to do that, or at least near each other on the same floor etc. Sunset Beach put us in 2 separate buildings quite a distance from each other. I couldn't believe it. My husband is ill and was really exhausted from the trip and I had a meltdown at the front desk. To their credit, they were sympathetic and put us in the presidential suite. Wonderful view, great balcony, unfortunately constant noise from construction next door from 7am until 8pm and rude neighbors below made enjoying the balcony nearly impossible. The presidential suite was a wonderful room. The carts were fairly convenient, but the suite was really far from the main pool and it got old having to be driven everywhere, especially since my husband wasn't well. I wasn't sorry to say goodbye to the carts. It is a good uphill hike from the beach to the lobby and even farther to the suite. The staff were generally very friendly. The market was convenient, there were 5 computers available and the spa was very nice. Dinner at La Nao was poor, although the Sunday buffet looked great. Dinner at La Frida was great, very expensive, but they did a great job, even though they didn't have any power at the time! The pools are very nice and the service was good. The drinks were weak, but tasted good. They never asked for ID for my 18 year old and probably would have served my 16 year old also. Overall, if you are fit, healthy and patient, I think this is a nice place, but not great. There really wasn't anything to do in the evening. The view is very nice and the beach is pretty, but of course you can't go near the water and it was very cool in the evening. We went to the Rose one day and the beach is TINY and the vendors stand right in front of you and one was blowing an annoying little whistle most of the time. The Rose would be popular with the younger crowd. I'd be glad to answer any questions if I can. Thank you to everyone who posts. It's always very interesting.

The view was fantastic, the units (one-bedroom oceanfront) were huge and clean, and the staff, friendly and helpful. The refrigerator, however, was extremely downsized for such a well-proportioned resort unit. We never had to wait long for a cart. The prices of groceries, etc., at the resort store, as well as the restaurants located at the resort, were especially expensive. Room Service and Pool-side dining best options for the cost conscious. All in all, a terrific choice for the active family.

We just returned from the Sunset Beach Resort and have nothing but great things to say about it. Please disregard the dreaded time share stories. They asked us to participate in the timeshare pitch once and we said no...they never bothered us again. Don't forget those who complain about the aggresive pitches were the people that actually accepted the invite to see the presentation. The other complaints that we saw on the review board were related to the shuttle transportation within the property. Again we had tremendous luck with the very helpful folks that got us from our hotel room to one of the hotels many destinations. The restaurants were great and plentiful. The staff throughout the property were amazing. The only complaint about Cabo in general is that it is very expensive. Taxis, restaurants, and other services are very pricey...expect to pay $30+ per dish for a sit down dinner anywhere you go...
