Pueblo Bonita Sunset Beach
Just got back from Cabo (Feb 20-24, 2006) and it was fantastic!! The weather is perfect, between 80-85 with a breeze to keep you cool. The resort was superb, beautiful grounds and incredible staff – all spoke English very well. Only ate dinner once at the resort, had breakfast room service and lunch at AuqaBar– food was just ok. Spent most days at the main pool and had a blast playing pool volleyball at 3:00 everyday. The main pool is heated, I am not sure about the others as we did not spend anytime there. As for those pesky suggestions that this is a time share trap – we here never bothered by anyone – we were simply asked to go to the welcome desk upon arrival (which we skipped) and asked about it once during our dinner at Bistro. Money saving tip – if you are a beer drinker go into the gift shop and buy your beer there instead of at AquaBar – will cost you less than half of what it costs from the bar. Suggestions for eating in town – StopLight across from HardRock good food and great prices also Ole Ole great food, spendy but worth the price. Also, the blue restaurant beside Ole Ole ( didn’t catch the name) is very good and fair priced.

The hotel is physically beautiful. However, you have to agressively dodge the timeshare sales folks to have any peace and quiet. And don't even try to get a seat on the patio for sunday brunch as all the choice spots will have been taken by salespeople making pitches to folks they lured in with a free breakfast.

Best advice is to skip the "welcome" packet and hotel "tour" all together.

Also note that PB has three other hotels in the city and they offer those guests free breakfast at the Sunset for listening to the sales pitch.

We arrived at Pueblo Bonito January 4, 2006.
On January 5, 2006 Mr. Kenny McIntyre (time share sales representative) explained the benefits and privileges that we would obtain if we invested in a Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Timeshare.
Mr. McIntyre made the following claims:
The investment on the time shares would be recovered in a 5 year period because we could easily rent the time shares through Pueblo Bonito for a net of $5000 to $7000 a week. To support this claim he showed us post cards from satisfied customers. The cards thanked him for the thousands of dollars received. He further stated that if we decide to rent we must not forget to send him a post card to add to his collection of references.
Compared to other time shares he stated that these would increase in value over the years because after the golf courses are added no further construction would take place in southern Baja California.
He further stated that Pueblo Bonito had a perfect reputation in the time share business.
We proceeded to sign the paper work required to acquire a Presidential SuiteTime Share.
We returned to San Antonio, Texas on January 14, 2006. We decided to rent the time share during the year 2005 due to other conflicting plans. We were advised that the rental would be around $1250. The quoted rental was inconsistent with the claims made by the sales representative. Further investigation revealed the following:
That other people had been mislead with the claim of financial gain to be derived from the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach time shares. That the Better Business Bureau has several complaints regarding the Time Share sales at Pueblo Bonito. There has been obvious misrepresentation in the sale of this time share. A notarized cancellation letter was faxed to Pueblo Bonito on February 2 . I am requesting that they refund $7,750 which I made as a good faith deposit. I have no replies from Pueblo Bonito

First let me say that we stayed in the Presidential Suite, so our room was huge, however, there were multiple bugs in the kitchen. The room was often not cleaned until late in the afternoon, after 4pm or so. Also, because this resort is on the side of a mountain it is very difficult to walk anywhere, even if you are young, so you must call for a golf cart to take you everywhere, and they expect tips for each ride. You cannot swim or even walk in the surf on this side of the Baja, and it was far too cool to be in the water even at the pool. This resort definately caters to much older people, like past retirement age. The pool bars close at 6pm! The service here was awful...we decided to sit through the time share presenation with the couple that we traveled with. We were assigned two separate sales assoicates, who had a fight and one was asked to leave by managment. We put up with all this for discounts on excursions and spa services, that were far from being granted. We booked an ATV trip that we paid for at the resort, but then had to pay insurance and an "access" fee for the desert, which the locals use as a dump. We never did get the discounts promised for the spa. In general, we found this entire area to be a giant scam. Everyone, including the resturaunts engage in hard sells, and will try to get you to go into thier shops or resturaunts. We had to constantly ask the singers, dancers, and peddlers to go away. In my opinion, I would choose Jamaica again before EVER going back to this area.
