We just returned from a week at the Sunset, 2/11 to 2/18. Wow, what a great place. The road to the entrance is a little tricky to find the first time, so we hired a cab to lead us to the enterance. 12.00 The veiws from the entrance road were breath taking. the hotel is about 3 miles from town so you really need a car, cabs are big money in Cabo. DO NOT RENT WITH DOLLAR ! The pools are warm and spotless. The rooms are large, very clean, with the most confortable beds we have ever slept in. The hotel grounds are some of the most beautiful you ever see. Every room has a great veiw of the ocean. We picked this hotel with the help of other travelers on trip adviser. Thank you. The litttle carts that shuttle you around the grounds are usually very quick to pick you up and they sure beat climbing the Mt. The drivers were very informitive and friendly. All the people at The Sunset were very friendly and helpful. We followed the advice of others on Trip adviser and stayed out out the main reaturant, quite pricy for a meal. But the deli made exelent sandwiches that were only 8.00. They were a very handy store. There was no swimming allowed in the Pacific Ocean due to high currents, but the pools were great. Soaking in the hot tub watching Gray whales out in front of us was unbeliveable. We went fishing twice, the first was in a panga best fishing per dollar in Cabo. Tip buy extra bait you'll need it by the light house. There is a guy that has a office behind Margaretta Ville Reasurant that books fishing charters, Stay away from him, he will promiss a great boat but what shows up in the morning is an old scow. I wasn't sure if we going fishing or to Gilligan's Island. Great food, try the Shrinp House, 12.95 shrimp and lobster combo, hmmm good. Best Margaretta, Margaretta Ville Resturant. Wife says to say the spa at the Sunset "is to die for". I think that means great. On time shares, we did not go on the tour, we just said we were to tired after travelling and were not bothered after that. If your approached just say you are a owner and the will never bother you agin. This Resort is one of the, no, is the finest resort we ever stayed in!!!!

My husband and I stayed here in Oct for an extended weekend. The drive leading up to the hotel and the hotel grounds were gorgeous. Rooms, food and service were all above average though not exceptional. Overall it was a very relaxing trip- the hotel is fairly quiet, with a much older crowd. I felt as though I was at the pool in the movie Cocoon at times. The only thing I would warn about is the hilly location, for those who are handicapped, older or less mobile, be careful of having to rely on employee driven golfcarts to get around.

We just returned from a quick 4 day trip and stayed at the fabulous Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach. The resort was beautiful and the penthouse suite was incredible. We stayed in penthouse suite #3432 which included 3 bd/3 ba and our own jacuzzi. Combine that with the spectacular views and you have the perfect place to spend your vacation. I have stayed in a number of five star resorts and this one ranks at the top. We also found a great deal on hotels and used the Cape Travel shuttle organized through the hotel itself. Additionally, if you are under 30 or traveling without a spouse, you can bybass the timeshare speech and have an easy check in process.

It is important to note that the resort is very quiet and isolated. While we were looking for a little R&R, this is not the resort for you if you seek action, loud parties and a quick trip into town. The daily shuttle was convenient and the walk from Pueblo Bonito Rose was short - only about 5 - 10 minutes to the main part of town. We went into town each day to shop, eat, go to bars, etc. If you are looking for a place to unwind, this is it.

A few things to note:
Recommend not eating the buffets in the restaurant and instead opting for the regular menu. We were dissapointed with the buffet the first time.

Check out time is 10am and it is sometimes difficult to request a late check out if you have an afternoon flight. The hotel provides a "hospitality suite" that you have to reserve for a 30 minute block if you want to shower, rest, etc. after checking out and before heading to the airport.

Golf Carts - the hotel is built into the side of the mountain and golf carts shuttle guests to the pool, restaurant, lobby, etc. This process is a bit tedious and even if you are in GREAT shape, the hills are steep and the walk gets tiring. Better off taking the shuttle and pretending you are on a ride at Disneyland.

We went to Cabo the week of 12/20/04 - 12/24/04 and stayed at the Sunset. The hotel, rooms, pools, food, service, everything was excellent. We liked using the golfcart taxis at times to get around the resort and at other times we enjoyed walking. The free shuttle bus service to their sister resort, the Rose, was very convenient and a big money saver to get to town. We would stay here again (we've been to Cabo before and liked this resort best).

Besides enjoying our stay at the hotel, we loved going deep sea fishing. Mucho Loco was the charter we booked - Phillipe and Ceasar were a great crew. Even though the waters were pretty rough most of the morning, we caught a good size dorado, tuna, and striped marlin.
