We stayed at the Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach from Aug 18-24. I have to say I really do not understand how anyone could haveany reason to not like this resort. If you did not, I believe, you either didn't do your research re: this resort thoroughly enough or it was your first time to Cabo and didn't know what to expect. There really would not be any reason otherwise. Everything at this resort from the location, rooms, service and staff are top quality.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom 2/bath/ w/a full size and modern Kitchen. The apartment size room must have been at least 1600 square feet with a Ginormous outdoor patio with a huge outdoor Jacuzzi. My only complaint was that there was no washer and dryer in the rooms which is an issue for our family. However, we did use Cabo Klin in town and it was a great laundry/dry cleaning shop that had great prices we brought in about 10 pounds/70 pieces of clothing and were charged $18.00 for fluff and fold service great!

The rooms were ample and the decor modern and elegant. The pictures do not do justice to this resort. We had just checked into this resort from the Hacienda/Sheraton vacation club in the corridor also a very beautiful resort But PBSB made us feel like we had been staying at a Holiday
Inn. Yes, PBSB is that nice!

We stayed in building 21 that was right below the sky pool. I
specifically requested this area as I knew that the newest rooms have free Internet service directly in the room. I was happy with our choice as we had the most beautiful view of the entire resort and the ocean. The Internet service was sporadic at times and would kick you off a website occasionally but a minor problem really. I heard others at the resort had trouble as well but who cares you're on vacation right?

We knew that this resort is on a mountainside overlooking the ocean but we were really blown away by the size of this resort. I likened it to a very large Las Vegas size hotel with incredible views of the ocean that could not be matched by anything in Vegas. You need to take golf carts up and down on very steep and winding roads that the drivers are experts at driving on. I suppose you could walk but why when you could get a ride? plus it almost seems a little dangerous to try with the golf cart traffic. We never had to wait more than 5 minutes for a cart and we always called for one before we left our room. I read others complain about problems waiting, but I wonder if they knew to call? I would mention that I would not recommend this resort for very young children or the elderly or people physically challenged in an way. This resort is NOT for you.

We only had food and drink service by the pools and did not try the restaurants. The poolside service was fast and they would always let us know if they had happy hour specials. We tried the burgers, sandwiches, and ceviche and taco salad all very good and prices fair, nothing outrageously high.

We only heard mention of timeshare presentation once when we arrived and mentioned there were free drinks for the "welcome package" which we knew was the timeshare presentation. We actually were able to use our free drink coupons even though we declined the presentation. They didn't bother us again.

At one point during our stay I needed to visit the medical clinic
because of an ear infection I started to get. They have a wonderful little clinic at the resort that has a Dr. on call 24/7. She was a Godsend as I was starting to have some pain. She examined me and drained my ear and had the concierge fill a prescription of ear drops that awaited me upon my return from dinner. I expected a huge Dr's bill the whole thing examination/prescription cost a mere $120.00 US dollars. A bargain!

The entire resort far exceeded our expectations as it was very elegant and comparable to a five star American resort in fact, I believe better than! The service was fantastic every staff person is gracious, helpful and professional. We used the concierge service on many an occasion and never had a problem with anything we requested. The maid service was very good as well. Overall, we had a fantastic time at PBSB and I look forward to staying at another one of their resorts in an another Mexican location in the future. (see my photos of this resort in my profile)

While its location is beautiful, the Pueblo Bonito resort (PB) had inconsistent service, pricey items all around and overly solicitous time share agents. I have never been asked so many times if I'm married, if I'm old enough to purchase a time share and with whom I'm traveling. In addition, the housekeeping was so inappropriate; they moved furntiure above our floor at 8 a.m. repeatedly, they walked IN WITHOUT KNOCKING and they made our beds with stained sheets. These were offenses that were repeated despite our bringing it to the attention of two managers.
Finally, the in-room coffee and water were not complimentary. I felt that was super parsimonious of the hotel management. Still, the villa was beautiful and I loved the hamlets-like setting. Because I left with the impression that my service is not valued (in addition to reporting the case to two managers I followed up via email), I will not go back. But, I made sure to have a good time!

Although Pueblo Bonito Beach Sunset Resort is a beautiful place, it is very costly. Once off the plane, and after being hounded by every Mexican and their brother to check their resort out and the 1/2 hr ride to the resort, you are greeted by bell boys. Ok, nothing wrong with the later part, but you have to travel 99% of the time by golf carts driven by employees, which is a tip of 10 pesos here ($1) or 10 pesos there. Anyways, after a week of giving every driver 10 pesos or more each time you hopped in the back of their golf cart, and if you're like us you like to see and do a lot so it becomes rather expensive. Like I said, the place is extremely beautiful, but good luck if an emergency arises and you need to make either a local or long distance call to the US. Fortunately, I had my cell phone which allowed me to make international calls unlike the other three people I was traveling with. The resort nickels and dimes you to death, and then when you don't have change for a tip then rudeness rears it's ugly head at you. I'm a Mexican woman, but the Hispanic women working at the resort were way too good to assist any American, especially during a time when your flight is canceled due to a hurricane (then no one was helpful at all…not even Continental Airlines, but that’s a different story). We did happen to meet a very nice lady working for the resort from Seattle, Washington (Michele). As for the locals, it was very obvious they do not like Americans much there. I am fluent enough in Spanish to know when you are being talked about. Yeah, I busted out several of the locals talking about us. Just because I speak English does not mean I don't know how to speak Spanish there, which I proved several of the locals wrong when I heard them talking about "us Americans." It rained off and on for 2 days while in Cabo San Lucas, and we were literally walking through crap because of the streets flooding and the sewage backing up into the streets. As for my experience, I would not go back to Mexico and would never recommend going there to anyone. My trip to a place that wants the American dollar but is far from being friendly was one I'd not want to take again. One good thing about Cabo San Lucas, Cabo Wabo bar at night is the happening place to party. Whatever you do, DO NOT eat at Lenny's deli (the trailer as it's referred to). It is way over priced and the food is not all that good. I had better food at Mi Casa than at an $85 meal at Lenny's.

Stayed at Sunset two weeks (8/25/08 - 9/08/08) and were blown away by its unique location and beauty. As we have traveled all over the world, we were so impressed by this place. We booked thru RCI as an exchange and we happened to purchase another time share while here.
Yes, things are expensive here however well worth the trip. We always take most of our meals and eat out occasionally. The food at the Bistro was superb, especially the Shrimp cocktail.
The food from any of the pool bars was excellent.
Every room has a great view and the gold cart (taxis) were always on time and prompt. Fun way to get around.
Yes, this resort is built on a hill-small mountain however getting around was not a problem. I think this resort could be managed by someone in a wheel chair if some mobility was available. I have bad knees and walked more than I would have ever expected. Each level is mostly flat with small upgrades. Each level had a pool, restaurant, store, etc.
If anyone wants additional information, please feel free to contact me.

First things first- when you fly into Cabo- [if you have never been], get through customs and DO NOT STOP UNTIL YOU ARE OUTSIDE. Schedule your cab ride or car rental ahead of time and know exactly where you are going. There will be TONS of time share reps trying to confuse you into stopping to talk to them- do not stop. I used the shuttle service that the hotel's website provided and they were waiting outside with a sign for me and were very organized. They make stops at the sister resorts so it probably won't just be you they drop off and Sunset Beach is the last stop on their list. Took about an hour because we made stops at all of the hotels.
Now to the resort:
I visited PB Sunset Beach the last week in August and it FAR exceeded my expectations. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL!!! Even the "junior" suite was big. It has its own living/dining space, kitchen, bedroom, 2 full bathrooms, and a HUGE balcony. There are 3 swim up bars and if you're looking to get away from the kids- the mid-level pool has a seperated kids and adult pool.
The golf carts that take you around the resort were very quick to respond- never waited more than a couple minutes. The sky pool was my favorite as it overlooked the whole resort and came with the best service. "Jose Luis" is the guy to look for up there- he was always sure to make sure you had a drink in your hand if you wanted it!
I ate at the Bistro- food was good, service wasn't the quickest I've ever had but I'd still recommend it.
If you take a cab into the city it is usually a flat rate of either $6 or $10.
We spent a day at "PB ROSE" .... was glad I chose "Sunset Beach". It is a beautiful resort but there is only one pool and not nearly as relaxing. Something to consider- if you are looking to swim in the ocean, the currents in Cabo are a LOT stronger than what I was used to on the east coast. I didn't find the ocean water in front of Rose calm enough to feel comfortable to swim in. Being able to swim in the ocean in front of the hotel was almost a deciding factor on which resort to pick for me, but after checking it out I am glad I went with Sunset Beach. No need for the ocean water as there were 4 pools with people ready to serve you by them as you laid there! Also, if you decide to lay out on the beach at Rose, lay on the second row back so you're not hassled the whole time by people trying to sell you various things. They do have a few water sports available in front of the hotel- we did the glass bottom boat tour and that is where I got my best pictures of the famous arch.
"La Dulce" is an Italian rest. in the city that I HIGHLY recommend- relatively inexpensive and the portions were a good size.
You would be ok to take a credit card and american cash- even most of the cabs we took accepted American money. .... although they give you pesos back in change if you do that.

I cannot say enough about the resort- everything from the room service, to the views, to the golf cart drivers- all of it was great.
Would DEFINITELY go back!
