My husband and I just returned from Pueblo Bonito, Sunset Beach and absolutely loved the place! I am an extremely picky traveller and like things just perfect, Pueblo Bonito did not let me down! The room was always immaculate and they never left anything "nasty" behind. Very clean bathrooms, beds and they mopped the floors daily! I am very picky - this was very clean! Even though you are supposed to pay them to wash your dishes they did ours for free before we realized we were supposed to leave them extra $ for dishes. This was fine, it took 5 minutes to wash my own, not a big deal unless your a prima dona! Yes, the maid did walk into our room after a quick knock, but we solved that by hanging the Do Not Disturb sign on the door handle when we were in the room - never happened again! Our room was at the very top of the resort and we spent the entire week at the sky pool. It was by far our favorite pool, with a gorgeous view, quiet and with great service. And yes, there was construction going on but only really noticed it one day and it wasn't constant. If you were bothered by it you could move to the other end of the pool and not hear it at all or go to 1 of the 3 other pools! All of the staff from the bellhops, concierge, maids, desk help, golf carts drivers were extremely courteous, helpful and friendly. The concierge made all of our travel plans, dinner reservations, shuttles and transfers, sight seeing reservations - it was extremely helpful. There was no rudeness, everyone was extremely polite and well mannered. If you are handicapped or in a huge hurry yes, the steep hills would be a problem, golf carts were usually very prompt but in "rush" times you maybe waited 5 minutes. My husband and I used the time when we wanted to walk "down" as our daily exercise time and the walk up to the top from the lobby is not that hard unless you are in very bad shape, elderly or handicapped. The shuttle service between the hotels was ALWAYS right on time and a great way to get around without a rental car. Must go to their sister resort Pacifica - very sophisticated and worth spending an afternoon at their pool! All in all a fantastic resort - would definitely return - and especially good if you don't want to be in the hustle & bustle of downtown! Great Place!

We have been visiting Cabo for six consecutive years, staying at very nice resorts. We have made a reservation thorough RCI and we were told Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach was very nice to stay and RCI Awarded them for great service year 2007. However, we have experienced nothing but terrible services.
We won’t recommend anyone to stay at this place if you are very active person. If you like to stay in your room, looking at natural stone and granite countertop may be you should stay there.

1. This place is way too big.
This place is build on the hill and only way to get down to pools, main lobby, restaurants, and other area, is by golf carts. Regularly, you have to call and wait for them at the stations. Often, we saw at least 20 peoples waiting at station for golf carts. Several people took off on foot, because of long lines. Can you imagine, if anyone wants to walk on the hillside road, especially in hot & humid temperature?
We are way too human to forget things, like wallets, or ID.
When you get to the pool or lobby and realize that you do not have ID or wallets, guess what!! It will take you forever to get to your room and come back. So inconvenient.

2. Slow and bad services. Due to heavy construction noise, we have asked management to move us to another room, so that we won’t be waking up by noise of jack hammer in the morning. When they finally moved us after thee days of complaining, the bathroom was not cleaned. Therefore, we asked maids to clean it quickly and she told us that her shift is over so we would have to wait till tomorrow.

We had a hot tub in our patio and pool boy came to clean everyday. We caught several times, they came in without knocking. What if we are not dressed? They just walked in without saying or knocking.

3. Construction noise. Unbearable construction noise. It took three days of complaining for us to move to other building since we were waked up by noise of jack hammer. We have been to other resort during the construction time, but this is like someone is jack hammering your back yard all day long. Who wants to spend their vacation staying at room where you can hear jack hammering going, especially with the price they are asking for? Terrible, Terrible,Terrible.

We will not be coming back to Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach.

Management response from GMSunset, General Manager
(Management representative)
Oct 22, 2007
As this reviewer correctly states, Pueblo Bonito Sunset Beach Resort & Spa in particular and Pueblo Bonito Oceanfront Resorts & Spas as a whole consistently receive the highest ratings in Latin America from thousands of valued RCI members who visit us from all over the world.

Unfortunately in this case, which we identified through ample documentation of conversations with this family, we could not sufficiently satisfy them in spite of a suite upgrade and considerable monetary and other valuable compensation. For that, I remain very sorry. Though we are building a villa next to the original villa assigned to this RCI member, there have been very few comments of noise from any of the 98 suites in that villa.

We were in awe of how beautiful "Sunset" is. Very Nice Place. All of our help was courteous. We got around primarily without the carts. We stayed in a central building though which helped. Our building was St. Ignacio which had the smallest of all the pools at the bottom of it. We had Omar, Juan and Victor as our hosts down there and they were all fantastic. Great personalities and great service.
All in all Pueblo Bonito was and is Gorgeous.
The only thing that was offsetting for us was the actual restaurants. La Nar and the Bistro... I guess we like more authentic food when we are in Mexico. The food was fantastic, don't get me wrong. Our tastebuds are just wanting more local flavor. That is something personal I am sure. But I go to Mexico for Mexican food.

We are TS owners at Sunset Beach. When we arrived, check in was quick and simple, but thats when it all went down hill. When we arrived at our room, we had this terrible smell! The smell of a sewer or a clogged drain, it was terrible. Even the bell boy/golf cart driver had a hard time dealing with it. He suggested we call the front desk, we did. When I explained the problem the said, " that there was no more rooms avial in our room size". They said that if we wanted to upgrade we would have to pay. That really pissed off my wife and I. I argued with them, then my wife got on the phone. She explained that the smell was not our fault and that we just wanted another room. They once explained that we would have to pay for the upgrade, my wife got into a shouting match over the phone. They said they would call us back it took sometime. When they did call back they stated that they would upgrade us to a bigger room that was ready. By then we were off to a bad start, it was hot, humid and we just wanted to cool off. They did send a golf cart driver to move us to another room. It was on the same building different floor. That room was in better shape, no smell and cooler. It took some time before my wife calmed down from her phone call to the front desk, asking a guest to pay for an upgrade when its not the guests fault is not good customer service, maybe since we own just a studio size suite we are not that important to the Pueblo Bonito!
The rest of the Hotel was great, the grounds, the pools are very nice. Golf cart service was good, when we would call we only had to wait for a few minutes. Our best time was spent at the sky pool, what a view! The food was good, we ate the buffet style dinners at the La Nao, other than that, we bought our daily food at the local market so we would eat our lunch in our rooms. All the rooms at the hotel have small servicebars, hot plates, microwave, fridge/freezer, all the pots and pans, and all settings that one might need.
As far as the hotel goes its one of the best we have ever stayed in. The rest of the staff was great, very polite and professional. We tried to forget our first impression and enjoyed our stay, since we already paid for it.
