We are TS owners at Sunset Beach. When we arrived, check in was quick and simple, but thats when it all went down hill. When we arrived at our room, we had this terrible smell! The smell of a sewer or a clogged drain, it was terrible. Even the bell boy/golf cart driver had a hard time dealing with it. He suggested we call the front desk, we did. When I explained the problem the said, " that there was no more rooms avial in our room size". They said that if we wanted to upgrade we would have to pay. That really pissed off my wife and I. I argued with them, then my wife got on the phone. She explained that the smell was not our fault and that we just wanted another room. They once explained that we would have to pay for the upgrade, my wife got into a shouting match over the phone. They said they would call us back it took sometime. When they did call back they stated that they would upgrade us to a bigger room that was ready. By then we were off to a bad start, it was hot, humid and we just wanted to cool off. They did send a golf cart driver to move us to another room. It was on the same building different floor. That room was in better shape, no smell and cooler. It took some time before my wife calmed down from her phone call to the front desk, asking a guest to pay for an upgrade when its not the guests fault is not good customer service, maybe since we own just a studio size suite we are not that important to the Pueblo Bonito!
The rest of the Hotel was great, the grounds, the pools are very nice. Golf cart service was good, when we would call we only had to wait for a few minutes. Our best time was spent at the sky pool, what a view! The food was good, we ate the buffet style dinners at the La Nao, other than that, we bought our daily food at the local market so we would eat our lunch in our rooms. All the rooms at the hotel have small servicebars, hot plates, microwave, fridge/freezer, all the pots and pans, and all settings that one might need.
As far as the hotel goes its one of the best we have ever stayed in. The rest of the staff was great, very polite and professional. We tried to forget our first impression and enjoyed our stay, since we already paid for it.

IWe just returned from the Montecristo Estates by Pueblo Bonito Sunset.

What stands out the most about our stay is the excellent customer service. I sent an email to the General Manager letting him know how much my husband and I appreciated the quality of service provided by his staff.

We have stayed at many 5 star luxury resorts through the years. The staff at Pueblo Bonito Sunset, particularly the Montecristo Estates, surpasses in excellence with every aspect of their customer service.

The facilities and grounds were beautiful including breathtaking views. We stayed at Villa #1. Gorgeous throughout with travertine and granite. High quality fixtures including raindrop shower heads, The linens were top notch and the beds were awsome. The private pool and hot tub, meticulously maintained on a daily basis, was the perfect place to take a plunge watching the sunset or the full moon over the Pacific.

You can visit all their pools at each of the 3 resorts via a shuttle or golf cart. We found the sky pool the most enjoyable.

Some reviews had comments complaining that the Montecristo was too far from the hub bub of Cabo. Some may not like being away from the center of action. We were concerned that this might be the case with us. We had stayed at the La Estancia last year and loved it. However, after staying at the Montecristo Estates in Pedegral, we have learned that we like the quiet side for our stay while having close access to downtown Cabo.

The air smells fresh and you can hear the pounding of the waves all the up to the very first Villa, where we stayed. It was amazing!

I highly recommend it. It is well worth the money!

I just returned from a great stay at PB Sunset Beach and like to submit some quick comments of recommendation.
- My bill was completely accurate and I did not note any overcharges.
- The staff is extremely triendly and eager to help. We lost our cell phone one evening in a taxi cab and they staff kept records of the taxis coming in an out of the resort and retrieved the phone in short order
- I found the location of having villas built into the sharp cliffs all with incredible views of the ocean to be charming and adds great character. I usually called for a cart as i exited by VIlla and in most cases a cart was there before i got down the stairs from my VIlla.
- The rooms are large and incredible - on par with top 5 star resort.
My wife and I have college aged children and were traveling on our own. Maybe our perspective may have differed if we had little ones in tow but i did meet several families that seemed to be enjoying their stays as well.

  • Liked — great villas and outstanding service
  • Disliked — maybe to isolated for some
