Our family stayed at La Estancia March 21-28. We had 4 children, ranging in age from 8 to 16. Everyone loved the accommodations! Our 2 bedroom villa was spacious and beautifully decorated. We truly felt as comfortable as being at home. The grocery store, pharmacy, deli, internet cafe were very convenient. Yes, the prices at the grocery were a bit higher, but the convenience was worth it. Only advice, don't buy more than you need for a few days at a time. We seemed to have over-purchased and left many unused items behind. There is even a young man at the grocery that will bring your groceries to the villa for you. The Concierge is wonderful! We had a situation in which we needed to get an antibiotic for one of our children. I went to the Concierge, told him exactly what I needed, and it was delivered by an off-site pharmacy within 20 minutes. The Concierge then followed-up by having the house doctor phone our villa to clarify any instructions that we might need on the medications. I would not recommend renting a car. Parking in town is very hard to come by. We arranged for a private Suburaban to greet us at the airport, and make the return to the airport at the close of our vacation. Google "Airport Transportation in Cabo"...we used "Baja Only" services. Cab rides to town were only $7 each way. Renting a vehicle for 6 people was going to be over $1000. Chairs at the pool are hard to come by. We found out very early in our stay that you needed to get them reserved early in the morning. Typically, they are all saved by 6:30 or 7:00am.

We just returned from a week stay. We rented a 2 bedroom/3 Bath unit directly from an owner. Because it was Spring Break we paid dearly for the pleasure, but it was worth it. La Estancia is located directly on the beach. The resort is cleaned and scrubbed all day and it shows! No bugs and no dirt any where. The food at the resort is exceptional. We enjoyed a breakfast buffet that put our family of 4 back about $90, but it was one of the very finest selections of cheeses and meats and fruits I'd ever seen! Some tips: renting a car will save you money in the long run. Valet parking is free. You can rent a car for about the same price as a round trip car service from the airport. With a car you can go to the CCC grocery store and stock up on water and supplies.
The market at the Estancia is very good, but is very expensive (a 2 1/2 gallon of water was $9 USD), so a trip to the CCC is a must! The beach chair situtation is not good. The chairs around the pool are all spoken for by 9 am. If you flag down a pool attendant and give him a nice tip, he will find a chair that has been abandoned for an hour or more and commandeer it for you. We recommend the La Pez catamaran snorkling tour. Dinner at La Casa was great - very authentic! I recommend this hotel and Cabo in general, although my 2 boys aged 8 and 10 were a little bored at times with Cabo.

My daughter and I just returned from from a visit to Villa La Estancia, March 6-11, 2006. Everything about the property was magnificent-- from the perfectly manicured grounds to the view from our enormous balcony to the extraordinarily helpful staff. The concierge was always willing to assist, whether changing dollars into pesos, making dinner reservations, or booking a whale-watching trip.
Our one-bedroom condominum was extremely spacious, elegantly furnished, and completely marble-floored.
Beautiful tiles and granite everywhere-- even in the pantry! We particularly admired the wrought-iron door leading to the main doors into the condo. There was extensive construction at the new La Villa Largo being built on our side of La Estancia. However, the walls were so thick that we never heard any construction noise except whe we were walking on the covered breezeways toward the elevators. The strong breezes also blocked any noise.
La Casona simply has the best continental cuisine in Cabo San Lucas-- enormous eye appeal and creativity in offering dishes such as Chilled Avocado Soup and fennel risotto. The service was flawless at La Casona.
Moreover, there was no music playing constantly, and no noise discernable from other condos. The proximity of the Grocery store, Pharmacy, and other shops made it easy and inexpensive to keep bottled water, etc. in our kitchen.
I highly recommend La Estancia!

My husband and I and another couple visited Cabo in late January 2006. I had done quite a bit of research since I had never visited the area before. The place that kept coming up was the Villa La Estancia. My expectations were exceeded at this resort. The villas were absolutely spectacular, with very open and large areas, very nicely furnished and an awesome huge balcony overlooking the pool area and the sea. The only complaint that I would have is that the way the villas are set up, you may have unknown guests sharing your balcony. When I first read about this in other reviews, I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience this was. The resort needs to find a better way to separate the two areas, other than using a see-through bamboo divider. Next time, I believe that I would go ahead and rent the other side as well to keep privacy. The pool area was extremely nice, with a traditional swim up bar. There were at least five very large hot tubs, one of which was overlooking the sea. The resort is in walking distance (on the beach) to the little bars and restaurants in downtown Cabo. There are the typical vendors trying to sell things but if you ignore them, they go away. I had no complaints about the sand, but my friends and my husband complained that the granules were like small pebbles and hurt their feet. If this was the only bad thing, then no big deal. We ate at some fabulous restaurants...I am now Edith's biggest fan! Whale watching was absolutely worth it. The golf was quite pricey. I will definitely look forward to going back here next january!

Villa La Estancia is a lovely place, and the staff is very eager to please. We went with our 3 year old and 18 year old daughters in late February (and had glorious weather, by the way!). The units are very nice and very spacious. Massive master bathroom --larger than most Manhattan apartments. The concierges are good at recommending restaurants, but you should also use the Fodor's Guide to Los Cabos--we got some great ideas from that book too. Get the grilled fish at most restaurants--it is unbelievably fresh! The sushi at Nick San was quite good too. Also good is the Fiesta night next door at Villa Del Palmar--fun entertainment for families, with all-you-can-drink-tequila and beer for Mom and Dad. BUT, be aware: there is MAJOR construction next door to Villa La Estancia and it is LOUD. It won't be done till at least this summer. We renewed our wedding vows on the beach and had to talk over the jackhammer at 5 pm! We also heard the construction starting around 7:30 or 8 a.m. That was a drag. Don't let the hotel tell you that you won't hear it--if you're on that side of the hotel, as we were, you will hear it! --Another point: The hotel staff tried to get, and succeeded in getting, a cash "gratuity" from us in order to upgrade us from a garden view room to an ocean view room. That was a little uncomfortable for us. But all in all, the beach is lovely (though not especially swimmable); the pools are quite nice and you get good food and beverage service there; the units are big and clean and well-furnished; and I think we would return. But I would want to check out what else there is in Cabo at the same price point, since the 2-bedroom units here run from about $700-900 a night, which is not cheap! This was out first time in Cabo and we really enjoyed the weather, the culture, the food and the people, so we can definitely give a rave review to Cabo in general, and a strong review to Villa La Estancia.
