My husband and I and another couple visited Cabo in late January 2006. I had done quite a bit of research since I had never visited the area before. The place that kept coming up was the Villa La Estancia. My expectations were exceeded at this resort. The villas were absolutely spectacular, with very open and large areas, very nicely furnished and an awesome huge balcony overlooking the pool area and the sea. The only complaint that I would have is that the way the villas are set up, you may have unknown guests sharing your balcony. When I first read about this in other reviews, I didn't realize how much of an inconvenience this was. The resort needs to find a better way to separate the two areas, other than using a see-through bamboo divider. Next time, I believe that I would go ahead and rent the other side as well to keep privacy. The pool area was extremely nice, with a traditional swim up bar. There were at least five very large hot tubs, one of which was overlooking the sea. The resort is in walking distance (on the beach) to the little bars and restaurants in downtown Cabo. There are the typical vendors trying to sell things but if you ignore them, they go away. I had no complaints about the sand, but my friends and my husband complained that the granules were like small pebbles and hurt their feet. If this was the only bad thing, then no big deal. We ate at some fabulous restaurants...I am now Edith's biggest fan! Whale watching was absolutely worth it. The golf was quite pricey. I will definitely look forward to going back here next january!
