My fiance and I just returned from 5 days at La Estancia (6/23-6/27). This place was awesome from start to finish. Our room was an oceanfront suite (with just two of us we didn't need the larger 2 or 3 bedroom) and we fell asleep and awoke to the sounds of crashing waves each day. The staff is great, extremely courteous and attentive to your every need, from the concierge to the pool waiters. The swimming pools are beautiful as well, and you can get a massage outside overlooking the ocean. We walked along the beach to the party spots during the day ("The Office" restaurant had a bikini contest while we ate lunch there overlooking the ocean). Downtown restaurants and nightlife are a very short taxi cab drive away (we especially recommend Mi Casa and Margaritaville for dinner and Cabo Wabo for live rock 'n' roll. Mambo Cafe has live salsa bands with a mostly local clientele if you are so inclined). The only cons I could find were minor and expected at a large resort like La Estancia and are as follows: (1)the food and drinks are EXPENSIVE ($7 for some mixed drinks), (2)if you want the prime tanning spots with umbrellas, you need to "save" your spot with a towel/magazine by around 8am, (3)a few items in the room were not functioning (room safe, one of the door knobs, etc). These were minor items but would not normally occur at a 5 star resort, and I think are due to the fact these are privately owned condos. Other than that, as I said earlier, the place is great and left me feeling relaxed and wanting to come back very soon.

My father, my 13 months old son and my self went to Villa Estancia for 6 days from May 24 through May 30th.
We booked our trip last minute and only relied on the pictures that we saw on the Internet. The hotel quality is outstanding, the staff is friendly, warm and knowlegable. We staid in a regular room not an apartment and it was a great spacious detailed room with a wonderful bathroom, plenty of closet space and a pantry with a mini refrigerator, it had a cute balcony with chairs and a coffee table. The infinity pool at Villa Estancia is fantastic and the beach and the view are spectacular.
Since this is sort of a time share they are in the process of building phase 3 try not to make them give you a room near the constructions site, the noise was not that bad however you might not like your view.
They have covered parking garage which I found really convenient on top of everything they are children's friendly. We did not try any restaurants but we used the small super marked and had tasty croissants for breakfast at their coffee shop. The fitness center seems to be pretty good even if I have not utilized it.
Cabo San Lucas is a beautiful place that is getting more and more discovered therefore in few years I think it is going to look like Acapulco so get your self out there before it becomes way to commercial. Take day trips to Tos Santos and La Paz.

I just returned from VLE 2 days ago after a 5 night stay. It is new and nice, definitely upscale with high profile/mature guests. Not for 20 year olds looking to party, that is next door at the Palmar. It is quiet and a soothing place. No hassle to buy a unit except one phone call informing us they would be happy to talk to us if we were interested. Nice bath, but very hard beds. Loved the balcony, sat there each night. There are only 2 places to eat at La Estancia-a nice steak piano bar and a grill by the pool, both very over priced. We loved Bella California, a beachside cafe next door at Palmar. Thank goodness we did not go all inclusive and bind ourselves to the resort, as there are so many great places to eat in Cabo. We walked downtown each day for dinner, it is only a 15 min walk each way, or a $7 cab ride, and I believe most VLE guests do this, as many were walking with us. Spa is great, they have daily specials. The grocery store and internet cafe are great too, as is the deli (yummy sandwiches and deserts), which are on the VLE/Palmar property. Very reasonable prices on everything compared to the VLE prices at their 2 restaurants. Never had a problem getting a chair by the pool or on the beach. The only complaints I have are that the beds are super hard and the concierge, Esteban, seems to be very overwhelmed and a bit arrogant. He does not offer you information, you must ask him. And when you do, he doesnt give you all of your options. In fact, we asked for a brochure or magazine to detail some restaurants or info on Cabo and he said he didnt have anything. He also said he didnt even have anything detailing the restaurants at the 2 resorts, the only thing he gave us was a spa brochure. We had to call to find out who had breakfast at the resort, if it was a buffet, how much it cost and when it opened or closed. This was a bit of a hassle, as had they given us this info, we (and other guests) wouldnt have had to call him each day. I just felt a bit in the dark, why didnt they have something about the resort, even in the room? We went next door to Palmar and they gave us something detailing Cabo restaurants, but still nothing on the restaurants on the property. He did, however, give us 2 good recommendations of restaurants downtown. We loved Margaritavilla and the Office, as well as Dorian. Overall, it was relaxing and I would go back . It is the nicest in Cabo and no timeshare hassles.

Our family of six people; 4 & 2-1/2 year old boys, Nana & Opa, and Mommy and Daddy, just returned from a FABULOUS stay here 4/10-14.

We couldn't get over the luxurious accommodations, beautiful views from every villa, and impeccable grounds. Using the neighboring hotel's kiddie pool and whale slide was a plus too, but we'd have been perfectly content just using the hotels two pools (with shallow areas for kids), plus great beach access (mostly yellow flags while we were there, so no swimming for our kids but fun wading & sandcastle-making!) We found great deals by searching online and booking through people/companies who represent 20+ villa owners. We will definitely stay here on our next family trip. Note, this is NOT a hotel, think of it as a condo rental with great bonus amenities.

If you do go with kids, go to Casa del Dorado. Fabulous meal (where the locals go), and they also have goats, chickens, roosters and peacocks, PLUS a swingset behind the restaurant. So our kids had a fabulous time, (and we did too without fussing kids at the table!). Our boys kept on wanting to return to the "farm restaurant" the rest of the trip, we will next time!

Complex overbuilt for public areas available to guests. While we were there over Easter there were not enough pool chairs. We observerd many guests in arguements over pool chairs.. claiming their territories as early as 6 o'clock in the morning. Service was also terrible as there was not enough staff for the amount of guests. Since this is a partial ownership complex, if there is anything wrong with your villa the resort will blame the owner and the owner will blame the resort. Consequently nothing will get fixed. This is a very expensive resort and the expected amenities such as concierge service, workout facilities, pool area, food, spa are all very average. Your money would be better spent elsewhere. They are building more phases next store so it will ony get more crowded. We were extremely disappointed with Villa La Estancia.
