“gorgeous beach...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 7, 2013

my family stayed at villa la estancia for four nights ... it was super. we did a late booking but made our decision based on trip advisor and certainly made the right choice. villa la estancia is in a great location (one day we walked into cabo instead of taking a cab), has great amenities (pools, spa, restaurants, arcade, beach) and is gorgeous and well kept. the employees were especially gracious ... we talked to the people in reception/concierges a number of times about various things (thanks especially to geraldo for helping me out with a FAB whale watching trip) and they were all very helpful, kind and professional. we went to many of the restaurants on site and were happy with them all .... and again, the employees were especially kind ... we spent far and away the most time just being poolside and it was fabulous ... highly recommend villa la estancia for a laid back, lovely vacation.

Room Tip: we loved staying on the second floor and having an easy walk up ... not having to wait for the eleva...

Our family stayed at La Estancia from Feb. 19-26 and had an absolutely wonderful time. We were traveling as a family (7 adults, 1 toddler) and everything from the size/layout of the condos to the hotel's proximity to fantastic bars and dining made it easy for a group with diverse interests and needs to feel comfortable and have a good time.

We had veeeeerrrryyyy slow bag delivery service upon check in (almost 3 hours to get our bags), which had me a little worried. Luckily, that was the only snafu of the week and things went uphill quickly from there.

As you can see from the pictures, the hotel is beautiful. The views from the condo balconies are incredible (great place for morning coffee), and the resort is one of the most well-maintained I have ever seen. The condos themselves are well equipped and there is LOTS of room for a family to spread out. Ours had 3 flat screen TVs (rare in Mexico), a DVD player, and mini-fridges in every room (even on the patio!). The beds were comfortable and the housekeeping service kept everything spotless.

Food and drinks were a little bit pricey ($10/drink), but everything was very good. I got the shrimp tacos at La Parilla the first day, and couldn't stop ordering them. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food very much. The Estancia Margarita (jalapenos, cilantro and cucumber) was another popular choice for our group. Yum! If you stock up with snacks and beer/cocktails at Wal-Mart, you can mix in a few lunches and drinks by the pool and still keep a reasonable bar tab.

The pool area was great for our 2 year old...it was warm and there was a large shallow area to play. The pool next door at Los Arcos had a shallow area with fountains she loved, and the Palmar pool had a big waterslide (too big for a toddler, but great for older kids).

The one thing I thought was absolutely ridiculous about this resort was that almost all the chairs were "reserved" with beach towels by 8 am. We would be out there all day...and most of those chairs never had anyone come sit in them. It was like people saved them just in case they might feel like going to the pool later. We eventually had to join suit and claim chairs at the crack of dawn so that we could all sit together. I'm not sure if this is because a lot of the people own time shares there...but it was obnoxious.

Several of us had massages at the spa, and it was nice. The hydrotherapy area was relaxing (holy pressure shower!) and provided a nice place to relax before the treatments. Again, the massages weren't cheap ($103 for 50 minutes) but they did run some specials during the week. The $30/hr. massages aren't far down the beach...we didn't try them but we walked by them several times.

Finally, we loved that it was only a quick (safe) cab ride to a LOT of delicious restaurants. Both Medano Beach and the Marina had many options...we had amazing dinners at The Office, Edith's, Captain Tony's, Alexander's etc. Mmm.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone interested in Cabo. I hope to go back very soon!

Room Tip: The rooms on the north side of the hotel had more sun in the afternoon, and the ones on the south si...

We just came back from an amazing 10 day vacation at La Estancia. Situated in a great location on Medano Beach just on the outskirts of the busy town of Cabo, this resort offered endless possibilities. As a guest at La Estancia we were able to enjoy the amenities of the more family-focused sister resort El Palmar where daily activities are available. We had fun painting, taking Spanish lessons, playing Bingo and sliding down the waterslide to name a few. When we wanted a quieter day we stayed at La Estancia either at the pools or down on the resort's chairs & umbrellas at the beach. There is a lovely new spa & fitness centre on site with a separate women's and men's hot tub, steam & sauna.

We really enjoyed the deli on site where food was considerably less expensive than the restaurants, and the ice cream shop was another big hit. To keep dining costs even further under control, there is a new Costco, SAMs Club and WalMart all within a 15 minute drive of the resort, or you can stop on your way from the airport.

The service is excellent all-round and the staff repeatedly go out of their way to help. We spent a day exploring other areas with a rental car company on site, which was so convenient and easy. All in all, this resort and area gave me the look and humidity of Arizona, the consistent weather of Hawaii, the safety of Canada while being surrounded by the friendly people & culture of Mexico. It's the perfect combination!

I have just returned from the most amazing trip to Cabo. We have been going to Cabo every year since 1996 and we always stay at the Pueblo Bonito resorts. This year we decided to switch it up and stay at the Villa La Estancia. What a treat! Our room was gorgeous, the food was top notch, the service was amazing and I can't imagine ever going to Cabo and staying anywhere else. We had Wifi in our room, washer and dryer, HUGE kitchen, the spa treatment was one of the best I have ever had, the pool water was perfect temperature. Our oceanfront view was spectacular. The one restaurant I would highly recommend is La Casona. The first three days we did the all-inclusive and had dinner with just adults at this restaurant. The next night we went back with the kids and indulged again. We had the breakfast buffet which was such a treat with all kinds of yummy options! The pool/beachside food and drinks and service were perfect! The mojitos were delicious..made to perfection and I also enjoyed their mango margarita. The location of this resort was perfect for everyone to enjoy all the activities of Cabo yet take beautiful long walks along beach or into town. The only complaint I have is the Villa de Palmar did not have guacamole at breakfast and the sushi restaurant was not open during lunch. Other then that I can't imagine any better resort.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms are the best! Email me for pricing fro your next trip to Cabo

This was our fourth Villa Estancia stay and this year was the best ever... We have stayed at VLE in January, June and twice in February..

From check-in to check-out our needs were met. We stayed in 1605A this trip and were a little disappointed to learn that we did not have a grill on our terrace.. My husband does alot of grilling and we just assumed since the other 3 villas that we had stayed in had grills that this one would. I will ask specifically next time... Also this kitchen was not as stocked as other villas we have stayed in... The refrigerator made a horrible noise every time that it cycled on and off.. it sounded like a metal door being slammed... we learned after the first night what the noise was and that the remedy was to shut the bedroom door...

The workout facility is very up to date , clean and had friendly staff to greet me every morning.
TransPacifico Transportation was awesome... we were unsure about spending the money on a private SUV but it was well worth the $$$ and not having the hassle of the time share guys trying to get you to listen to their sales speech... we were greeted outside the airport taken to our vehicle by our driver and given a beer to enjoy for the 30 minute drive to VLE!

Our only disappointment was the day that we left when we both realized that we had not stayed long enough!! This was our first seven day stay as we have only stayed 5 days in the past... We are already looking into our 2014 visit.. and our fifth stay at VLE!! The only problem is do we go in January for our 35th anniversary or do we go in February which we have enjoyed 2 visits?

Why go to any other vacation destination when you can go to VLE and be treated like royalty?

Room Tip: The reason why I rated the room as average was because of the refrigerator noise.. even with the TV...

This was our fifth trip to Cabo but our first stay at Villa La Estancia. Villa La Estancia is amazing - the villas are spectacular, the grounds impeccable, the staff are friendly and helpful, the location is great and the views are breathtaking. We already had accommodations for a week at another location and decided to stay ten days, thinking closer to downtown would be a nice change for a few days. Vicki & Malcolm at La Estancia Vacations helped us plan every memorable detail from location of villa to shuttle service from the airport - all exceeded our expectations! Our only complaint would be that we didn’t stay long enough. We are already working to secure our 2014 dates as Villa La Estancia and will be staying for a week! We can’t wait to return and highly recommend Villa La Estancia and La Estancia Vacations to anyone looking for that perfect getaway.

My husband and I stayed at Villa La Estancia in October 2012 with another couple. We rented Villa 3201 with the panoramic ocean front views. The views were gorgeous, the terrace was perfection! We booked with Malcolm and Vickie at La Estancia Vacations and they were great, from quick responses to providing great information, we had no complaints about our encounters with them.
The villa is all the way on the left side facing the ocean if you are standing on the beach looking toward the resort. La Estancia is the middle of the trio of hotels that are part of this resort. La Estancia is the top resort and you have the ability to eat at any of the restaurants at any of the 3 resorts if you purchase the all inclusive plan, which we did and found to be very convenient. Despite having our own full kitchen, we still enjoyed the convenience of the AI plan.

We purchased groceries from Walmart, which as everyone says is about a 5 minute cab ride. Very convenient and easy. There is an onsite grocery store with all the essentials. Prices are a bit higher but you can find wine reasonable there and if you forgot anything (medical, snack, drink, you can find it there).

The Villa was very clean and looked exactly as the pictures showed. No surprises. There were only two couples so the third bedroom went unused but it would be more than plenty of space for 3 couples or a family to stay in this villa. They cleaned the villa more than they said they would, i believe they are scheduled to come a few times a week but they seemed to come almost every day and at least every other day. Might have been that the resort was not at capacity when we were there.

There was no need to save seats at the pool, there were plenty this time of year. They have chair side service for eating and drinking, it is a bit slower pace but you are on vacation and should not be in a big hurry anyway.

The beach is not user friendly. Though it is said to be a swimable beach, that is a relative term. We did arrive a day after a hurricane went over the baja, so I know that played into it, we were smacked around and beaten up by waves upon arrival. However a week later when the hurricane's impact was long gone, we still got tossed around quite a bit in the ocean. The sand is VERY hard, little granular pebbles, so not a good walking beach barefoot anyway. The hotel did a baby turtle release which was absolutely awesome. We got to hold the baby turtles and then release them into the sand and watch them head to the ocean and be swept up by the waves. That was a very cool experience.

The guys in our party wanted to do some fishing. We used Aby Charters and Captain Helio Garcia was very responsive and accomodating. They went out 3 times during our week visit and caught Dorado and Wahoo two of the three trips out. No sailfish but they had a great time! Aby Charters is really reasonable, dependable and friendly. No complaints there at all.

We also did some adventure things. We did a half day four wheeling with Baja Buggies. My husband and I don't enjoy being knocked around so that was not a fun experience for us, but the other couple loved it! Just know your limits and what you might enjoy. It is certainly NOT for someone with a bad back. They take you through the dry water beds and onto the beach by the ocean. Very pretty but extremely bumpy as it should be given it is Baja Buggies!

We also did the Sling Swing through Cabo San Lucas Tours. Unfortunately they booked us for the wrong day despite sending us a confirmation for the correct day. IN the end we went out another time and when we came home and complained since we had to re-arrange other things in our trip, they did a very fair make good and credited us the entire cost. It was a disappointment and aggravation on vacation to deal with but they made it right in the end and we were able to still do the sling swing, which by the way, was AWESOME! A huge adrenalin rush!!! Highly recommend this. I would NEVER do it again, but it was an awesome experience and I am so glad I did it!

We also did SNUBA for the first time ever. We did this through Cabo San Lucas Tours too and that went great. Snuba is very cool. You are underwater on Jetson like scooters and they get fish inches from your face as you feed them crackers. That was awesome. A word of caution here though, don't jump into the water from the boat before the SNUBA if you have any ear clogging issues. My husband jumped in and his ears filled up and he ended up not being able to clear them and the pressure in the SNUBA was too much for him, he had to bail. So he missed out. You are only 15 feet under water and teethered to a bouy so you aren't far down and can bail at any time.

We also had a private chef come in one night. We used Chefincabo.com. Chef Jorge was our Chef and they did a very nice job, on time, clean, top notch.

All in all this was a fabulous trip and we truly loved it. In our opinion worth the extra money to have the panoramic views. The penthouse would have been awesome BUT there is no coverage from the hot sun, where as Villa 3201 has the awesome views and ceiling fans on the terrace to make for a more enjoyable time on the terrace. The hot tub on the terrace is also awesome and we used it several times.

We like to try new places but everyone said they would love to return to Cabo again and we would absolutely stay at Villa La Estancia again and book through La Estancia Vacations!

Room Tip: If considering Penthouse or Panoramic rooms, think about the exposure to the sun. Penthouses don'...
