“Amazing Week at La Estancia”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2013

Our family stayed at La Estancia from Feb. 19-26 and had an absolutely wonderful time. We were traveling as a family (7 adults, 1 toddler) and everything from the size/layout of the condos to the hotel's proximity to fantastic bars and dining made it easy for a group with diverse interests and needs to feel comfortable and have a good time.

We had veeeeerrrryyyy slow bag delivery service upon check in (almost 3 hours to get our bags), which had me a little worried. Luckily, that was the only snafu of the week and things went uphill quickly from there.

As you can see from the pictures, the hotel is beautiful. The views from the condo balconies are incredible (great place for morning coffee), and the resort is one of the most well-maintained I have ever seen. The condos themselves are well equipped and there is LOTS of room for a family to spread out. Ours had 3 flat screen TVs (rare in Mexico), a DVD player, and mini-fridges in every room (even on the patio!). The beds were comfortable and the housekeeping service kept everything spotless.

Food and drinks were a little bit pricey ($10/drink), but everything was very good. I got the shrimp tacos at La Parilla the first day, and couldn't stop ordering them. Everyone in our party enjoyed their food very much. The Estancia Margarita (jalapenos, cilantro and cucumber) was another popular choice for our group. Yum! If you stock up with snacks and beer/cocktails at Wal-Mart, you can mix in a few lunches and drinks by the pool and still keep a reasonable bar tab.

The pool area was great for our 2 year old...it was warm and there was a large shallow area to play. The pool next door at Los Arcos had a shallow area with fountains she loved, and the Palmar pool had a big waterslide (too big for a toddler, but great for older kids).

The one thing I thought was absolutely ridiculous about this resort was that almost all the chairs were "reserved" with beach towels by 8 am. We would be out there all day...and most of those chairs never had anyone come sit in them. It was like people saved them just in case they might feel like going to the pool later. We eventually had to join suit and claim chairs at the crack of dawn so that we could all sit together. I'm not sure if this is because a lot of the people own time shares there...but it was obnoxious.

Several of us had massages at the spa, and it was nice. The hydrotherapy area was relaxing (holy pressure shower!) and provided a nice place to relax before the treatments. Again, the massages weren't cheap ($103 for 50 minutes) but they did run some specials during the week. The $30/hr. massages aren't far down the beach...we didn't try them but we walked by them several times.

Finally, we loved that it was only a quick (safe) cab ride to a LOT of delicious restaurants. Both Medano Beach and the Marina had many options...we had amazing dinners at The Office, Edith's, Captain Tony's, Alexander's etc. Mmm.

I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone interested in Cabo. I hope to go back very soon!

Room Tip: The rooms on the north side of the hotel had more sun in the afternoon, and the ones on the south si...

“Easy, safe and completely fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013 via mobile

We just came back from an amazing 10 day vacation at La Estancia. Situated in a great location on Medano Beach just on the outskirts of the busy town of Cabo, this resort offered endless possibilities. As a guest at La Estancia we were able to enjoy the amenities of the more family-focused sister resort El Palmar where daily activities are available. We had fun painting, taking Spanish lessons, playing Bingo and sliding down the waterslide to name a few. When we wanted a quieter day we stayed at La Estancia either at the pools or down on the resort's chairs & umbrellas at the beach. There is a lovely new spa & fitness centre on site with a separate women's and men's hot tub, steam & sauna.

We really enjoyed the deli on site where food was considerably less expensive than the restaurants, and the ice cream shop was another big hit. To keep dining costs even further under control, there is a new Costco, SAMs Club and WalMart all within a 15 minute drive of the resort, or you can stop on your way from the airport.

The service is excellent all-round and the staff repeatedly go out of their way to help. We spent a day exploring other areas with a rental car company on site, which was so convenient and easy. All in all, this resort and area gave me the look and humidity of Arizona, the consistent weather of Hawaii, the safety of Canada while being surrounded by the friendly people & culture of Mexico. It's the perfect combination!

“First class Hotel option”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

I have just returned from the most amazing trip to Cabo. We have been going to Cabo every year since 1996 and we always stay at the Pueblo Bonito resorts. This year we decided to switch it up and stay at the Villa La Estancia. What a treat! Our room was gorgeous, the food was top notch, the service was amazing and I can't imagine ever going to Cabo and staying anywhere else. We had Wifi in our room, washer and dryer, HUGE kitchen, the spa treatment was one of the best I have ever had, the pool water was perfect temperature. Our oceanfront view was spectacular. The one restaurant I would highly recommend is La Casona. The first three days we did the all-inclusive and had dinner with just adults at this restaurant. The next night we went back with the kids and indulged again. We had the breakfast buffet which was such a treat with all kinds of yummy options! The pool/beachside food and drinks and service were perfect! The mojitos were delicious..made to perfection and I also enjoyed their mango margarita. The location of this resort was perfect for everyone to enjoy all the activities of Cabo yet take beautiful long walks along beach or into town. The only complaint I have is the Villa de Palmar did not have guacamole at breakfast and the sushi restaurant was not open during lunch. Other then that I can't imagine any better resort.

Room Tip: Oceanfront rooms are the best! Email me for pricing fro your next trip to Cabo

“Best Cabo Vacation EVER!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2013

This was our fourth Villa Estancia stay and this year was the best ever... We have stayed at VLE in January, June and twice in February..

From check-in to check-out our needs were met. We stayed in 1605A this trip and were a little disappointed to learn that we did not have a grill on our terrace.. My husband does alot of grilling and we just assumed since the other 3 villas that we had stayed in had grills that this one would. I will ask specifically next time... Also this kitchen was not as stocked as other villas we have stayed in... The refrigerator made a horrible noise every time that it cycled on and off.. it sounded like a metal door being slammed... we learned after the first night what the noise was and that the remedy was to shut the bedroom door...

The workout facility is very up to date , clean and had friendly staff to greet me every morning.
TransPacifico Transportation was awesome... we were unsure about spending the money on a private SUV but it was well worth the $$$ and not having the hassle of the time share guys trying to get you to listen to their sales speech... we were greeted outside the airport taken to our vehicle by our driver and given a beer to enjoy for the 30 minute drive to VLE!

Our only disappointment was the day that we left when we both realized that we had not stayed long enough!! This was our first seven day stay as we have only stayed 5 days in the past... We are already looking into our 2014 visit.. and our fifth stay at VLE!! The only problem is do we go in January for our 35th anniversary or do we go in February which we have enjoyed 2 visits?

Why go to any other vacation destination when you can go to VLE and be treated like royalty?

Room Tip: The reason why I rated the room as average was because of the refrigerator noise.. even with the TV...

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

This was our fifth trip to Cabo but our first stay at Villa La Estancia. Villa La Estancia is amazing - the villas are spectacular, the grounds impeccable, the staff are friendly and helpful, the location is great and the views are breathtaking. We already had accommodations for a week at another location and decided to stay ten days, thinking closer to downtown would be a nice change for a few days. Vicki & Malcolm at La Estancia Vacations helped us plan every memorable detail from location of villa to shuttle service from the airport - all exceeded our expectations! Our only complaint would be that we didn’t stay long enough. We are already working to secure our 2014 dates as Villa La Estancia and will be staying for a week! We can’t wait to return and highly recommend Villa La Estancia and La Estancia Vacations to anyone looking for that perfect getaway.
